hockey week
Getting a bit speculative here:Boston BruinsThe Bruins, created 1924, will have their 90th Anniversary in 2014-15, and 90th season in 2015-16 (Remember that lockout? Yeah, that makes it tricky.) I think they'll recognize it, incorrectly, in 2014-15, and then keep the third jersey, minus the patch. First, the patch, which is on a black background:It's an amalgamation, which we know the Bruins are good at. The Bruins had a gold jersey from 1955-65, plus the script jersey from 1940-44, the Pooh Bear from 1995-2006, and the Winter Classic Jersey. The sleeve stripes are evocative of the stripes from 1951-58, plus the early years. The logo is a remake of the original logo, yet completely modern, and the hemline stripes are the inverse of the ones used from 1951-55 and 1959-65, which also saw the inverse of the shoulder pattern.Thoughts? Might we see these out of Beantown? I'll respect any opinion that you can defend.
bigbean24
That looks nice. Always seeing it in black then seeing it in yellow is a very nice change. St. Paul Pioneers(GHA) Minnesota Skeeters(CL) Minnesota Lake Monsters(UFL)
Morgan33
Anything that is gold and replaces the current half assed alternate is welcome. I hope you are right. If not I hope they make the Winter Classic jersey their new alt.
Xodius
New York IslandersThe home and road will remain unchanged, but a new third jersey will make some waves, and stick around far longer than anybody wants it to. A post on this board reported that some people inside the Islanders organization said the jersey will be black. This jersey, which I assume will be BFBS, is being introduced solely for money, so the Isles will certainly do things to bring in the cash. Script logos are popular right now, and will also appeal to the baseball fans of New York (and let's face it, having the same colors as the Mets is not something to be ignored with this jersey). Of course it will have some homage to the four straight Cups, done here with the four stripes. White sleeve ends and hemline will match the home blues, and combining the multiple stripes with the laceup (orange, like they did with their first edge jersey) will be called "vintage" and "retro", even though the Isles have never worn anything like that. Toss the regular logo on the shoulders, and you have a typical NHL cash-grab 3rd jersey.http://www.icethetics.info/blog/2011/5/7/isles-in-black-and-other-rumors.html
