2014 Sochi Olympics Jersey Series

Other than a few exceptions, international jerseys have gone very downhill since the World Cup in 2004. A lot of them have become templated messes, so here's a series that's the reverse.

The first one is Canada, clearly based on the Canada Cup teams of the 70s. They had a distinct design, and didn't have any black. Red and white are the only two colours in this set. Unlike the 70s version, the leaf extends to the bottom of the jersey.

Slovakia's is a new design, centered around their flag. Their 2010 jersey was a bucket fill template jersey, so I thought I'd be a bit more creative. The logo stays the same, because I thought the use of the crest was cool. The patch commemorates Pavol Demitra.

Both are good, though for Canada, a good idea would be to give the arms maple-leaf stripes. That's unclear, so think of it like this: the Summit Series jerseys had the top part of a maple leaf coming up from the waist. Do that, except it's coming from the wrist cuffs.
