Let's talk about the report button.

Recommended Posts

As a moderating team, we appreciate what you, the general membership, do in helping to keep the CCSLC a Fun Place On The Internet.

HOWEVER.

Some of you are abusing the privilege.

See a dirty spammer? Report it.

See someone post something generally offensively? Report it.

Porn? Report it.

Politics? Report it.

Don't like an opinion? Cope.

Want us to fight your battles for you? Cope.

Someone posted something in another forum by accident? Cope. We'll get there.

Thread dormant for a week? Cope.

Get the picture?

99% of what is being reported, we've either seen or will see, or simply doesn't need to be reported. Only something really egregious needs to be reported.

Trivial things, personal battles, and ZOMG A POLL IN CONCEPTZ can wait, or be left alone. We'll get to it.

The report button is not your birthright. Use it only for good.

Bringing this post out of the mothballs to add a couple points of emphasis.

*If you submit a report without any content/context, it will be ignored.  Our job is not to guess why you may think that a post needs to be moderated.

*If you feel the need to report a post, don't turn around and also engage it with a GIF or a reaction.  All that does is makes more work for the moderator team as we have to edit your post in addition to the original and all subsequent replies that arise.

*Poor taste is not report worthy.  Save the report button for something actually offensive.

*Someone posting an image too large for your liking is not report worthy.

*A thread being too long for your liking is not report worthy.

*You not understanding a joke is not report worthy.

Bumping this for reemphasis.

Double posting does not require moderator action. DO NOT REPORT.

Posting duplicate topics will be eventually noticed. DO NOT REPORT.

Adding to this, realizing you've posted in the wrong forum does not warrant the use of the report button. Tag or PM a moderator and we'll take care of it.
