Junie Dunleavy's shop was not far from here. I used to see Dick Trickle in local diners around town. "Of course, that's just my opinion. I could be wrong." sc49erfan15
Bumping this because I found two more - and two older ones, at that! Mel Kenyon drove this Atlanta Falcons-sponsored car in six races during the 1973 USAC season. The first race featuring this sponsorship was the 1973 Indianapolis 500, where Kenyon finished 4th. I'm surprised by a few things here: 1973 seems very early for a NFL team to sponsor a race car; it's rather early on in the history of the Atlanta Falcons; and that this car finished 4th at the Indy 500 (albeit almost 45 years ago) and it hasn't been brought up yet! NASCAR journeyman Rick Wilson drove this Indianapolis Colts-sponsored car in the 1997 Brickyard 400, finishing 21st. As you can probably guess by the rather plain appearance, this was a one-race deal on a previously-unsponsored car. The sponsorship deal apparently wasn't made until the day of the race!
