  1. On a side note, I hate TV networks that advertise a big event (i.e. Super Bowl, etc.) in a way that makes it seem as if you wouldn't be watching it if it wasn't on their network.
  2. I look forward to the day when I am allowed to hate a woman in her job because she sucks, and not be heaped on with a lot of "you hate her just because she's a woman".
  3. I dislike it. Again, we've got the LA Lakers, LA Clippers, and Sacramento Kings. And let's be honest, the Lakers are probably the ones that could best claim the California crown. (But none of them should). There was nothing wrong with "San Francisco Warriors," and even their time in Oakland could still make sense if you expand it to imply the San Francisco Bay Area. (This is how I now justify the 49ers being in Santa Clara). Silly admission here - In my youth I used to think the Washington Bullets played in the state of Washington and couldn't figure out why they played Seattle, they were from the same place, they should be friends...
  4. The closest team to me growing up was 2000 miles away, so I didn't have local teams to follow and chose a wide variety of them. But I've told the story of how I became a Giants, Chargers, Dolphins, and Huskies fan before. My favorite story is how my dad became a Steelers fan. His buddy in USMC boot camp in 1969 was from Pittsburgh and was always talking about how much he loved the Steelers and they were going to bust out and be great soon. Right after boot camp, my dad was sent to mechanic school in Memphis and his buddy went to Vietnam where he was killed on the first day. So my dad decided to honor him by rooting for the team he loved so much. Worked out well for him I guess...
  5. When I lived there, "visiting Tukwila" meant something else entirely, "I went out with this girl last night and after dinner we went back to my place and visited Tukwila."
  6. The owner of the Alaska Aces says they're going to be just fine... http://www.adn.com/article/20150128/amid-expected-ahlechl-shake-aces-here-stay
  7. NFL: Chargers - when I was first getting into football, my dad bought me a preview magazine. The cover article was "Why Fouts is better than Bradshaw". As my dad was a Steelers fan, I wanted to root for a better team and that seemed to be the one. NHL: Penguins - I like Penguins, so despite my 5th grade classmates strong efforts to make me an Islanders fan, once I found out there was a team called the Penguins, they became my team. MLB: Giants - I don't know why I picked them back in 1982 when I started watching baseball. I just did and have followed them ever since. NCAA: Washington - Attended there. My dad didn't want his kids to root for a college team until we went to a school, so I never had any interest in college sports until my senior year in high school when I knew I was going to go to UW. I don't automatically root for USA national teams. It depends on the sport and who they are playing.
  8. Army-Navy is ignored. So theoretically, and highly unlikely, Army and Navy could be undefeated and 1-2 in the BCS standings and would play for the national title no matter what happened in the Army-Navy game...
  9. Hypothetical question here: What if this year's Army-Navy game would have had an impact on the final BCS standings to determine who's going to BCS bowls? Do they postpone the BCS selection or simply ignore Army-Navy in the standings? One big problem with that is that Army-Navy is always held after the conference championships. If they both joined the ACC, that game would have to come before the ACCCG due to a possible impact on who plays in the game.
