I'm gonna say that Cavs font derived from Suns font because look at Suns wordmark which they use since 2013 and then look on Cavs (since 2017) and notice similarities between them.

Unofrtunately it is league wide thing since 2020/2021 and the reason is $$$. On the other side of baseline in regular season there are ads. Covid opened doors for that and no one wants to close them.
