  1. Huge unpopular opinion here I bet. I really like the Rockies purple pinsriped road unis and I am disappointed to hear that they're changing them this year. For one, there's more of a sense of uniformity throughout the set currently. Second, they just look great on a road grey. I don't know, maybe it's just because I rarely see them being played(only one pitcher on their team actually like them). All they have to do is fix that wordmark. I mean seriously? Silver and black lettering? Are they trying to be the White Sox? I really would suggest a monotone look. In other words, black on purple and purple on black. They could be one of few teams to pull off a look like that.

I agree with all of this.

    -----

The biggest problem I have with the current Coyotes set is the poor color balance. Their uniforms feature sedona red and white. Excluding the logo, that's it. What about sand and black? It would be so easy to at least change the white to sand. Even still, there would be no black. Color balance is key to a good uniform set. The Phoenix Coyotes currently lack this.

  2. I love collar wordmarks in the NFL. I'd like to see a league-wide mandate on them for every team, save for teams like the Steelers and Jets who use them in their chest logos.

Like anything else, it's a design element that works for some teams, but not others.

This statement NEEDS to be understood by...well, just about every single member of this board. I hate it when people say things like "every team must wear x shade of pants with x jerseys" or "all monochrome is bad" or gray facemasks must not be used". It is all about the team involved and how they use it. Some elements work perfectly for some teams, and not so well for others.

  3. With that said, I was lucky enough to have won some money on a game show, and have decided that for the first time in my life I will be purchasing an MLB authentic jersey. I had no idea prices were so high now a days for a Cool Base jersey, I guess I hadn't looked at a price tag that closely in a few years, and was wondering if anyone here could recommend a good place to pick up a perfectly authentic jersey for a good price. The cheapest authentic retailer I've found so far is Jersey Joe.com, with a customizable Cool Base for $229.99 -- is there anywhere cheaper or am I about at that limit?

SportsK has it for cheaper. That is the easily the best site for officially licensed hockey and baseball jerseys.

Their website doesn't look that great, but it says at the bottom the jerseys are made by Majestic and that's exactly what I'm looking for, thanks!

I would recommend Sportsk in a heartbeat. Best customer service ever. The products are legit.

  4. I apoligize, but I still don't understnad something. First off, counterfitting is illegal. I get it, and there is nothing to argue there.

Well that's more then some others in the thread have been able to grasp, so congrats.

I think the problem is in the motive...

The motive, as it's been discussed, is meaningless as long as the person can admit that that they are buying an illegally produced product and that they're morally in the wrong by supporting intellectual property theft. If you, as a consumer, know these facts but decide to buy a counterfeit, for whatever reason, anyway, then fine. That's your decision.

...why would the consumer want to purchase a product that they likely know is a fake?

You assume we (people who obsess over uniforms and logos) are the norm. We are not. I would guess most people who buy fakes are legitimately ignorant that what they are supporting IP theft and buying an illegal product. They just think they're getting a great deal. If someone is ignorant of their purchase, then there's no moral issue. Heck, I don't even see an issue if you know you're buying a fake, as long as you admit that you're supporting an illegal business practice and that you're morally wrong on the issue.

If you were to compare a nicer fake (yes, there are some)...

Even the nicest fakes are inferior to the official replicas when it comes down to quality. It might seem close enough, but I gaurntee you it'll start to fade under the lights once you really start to examine it.

Or just put it through the wash and watch it fall apart.

...to the replica posted above, the fake seems better. Looking at 1) material, B.) accuracy, and III.) price, which is better? 1) replica, B.) fake, and III.) fake. Two of the three factors favor the fake jersey. Don't you think that if the quality and accuracy of the replica jerseys was much better, people wouldn't feel so strongly against paying more than $60? Many people seem to purchase a $30 fake over an $80 replica because the accuracy is way better.

That's a pretty big assertion. Like I said, most people are probably ignorant. Those that aren't either try to perform mental gymnastics to "prove" they're right or accept that they're wrong and just say " :censored: it."

The amount of people choosing to buy fakes over the real thing is minuscule, if only because the amount of fakes that are just as good or better then official products is minuscule.

Personally? If I want a jersey I'll wait until I have the cash to afford it. I won't spend less money on an inferior product. I'm smart enough to realize that I'm not entitled to my favourite team's jersey and that the smart thing to do is simply wait until I can responsibly purchase one.

Alright, I follow you here. Thank you for summing it up like that. One thing, the motive. I completey agree with your statement, but...if the league/manufacturers were to improve the quality, or better yet accuracy of the replicas, wouldn't that help solve the problem somewhat? I realize most average fans might not care about that, but don't you think it would help?

  5. This is stupid, the people in this thread bitching about people buying fakes and all that are probably the people that download illegal music and software programs.

Actually I don't download music illegally.

You're using a Transformers avatar. Did you get prior written consent from the creators?

Do you have written consent from the Washington Redskins and/or Sean Taylor?

Fact is that Hasbro, TakaraTomy, Paramount, and Dreamworks have released sets of Transformers imagery, including the Decepticon logo in my avatar, to be used free of charge for use as message board and IM avatars. I could stick a picture of Optimus Prime's face in my avatar space and it would be ok because the owners of the Transformers brand have made it clear they have no issue with people using their IP in such a manner.

Really, though, you're just trying another variation on the same tactic. To try and deflect the issue. What I do is unimportant. The topic of the thread is counterfeit jerseys. Everything else, as far as this thread is concerned, does not matter. At all.

Like BBTV said. If you know it's wrong to support intellectual property theft and you do so anyway then go ahead. The total failure of people here to even recognize that it's wrong is baffling at best and downright sad at worst.

This next image is from NFL Shop. If you are worried about the integrity of these 'counterfeit' jerseys then you should also be worried about 'official' jerseys as well. Turns out the Packers collar is not solid white. Seriously NFL, if you want to stop the counterfeiting, get your own :censored: together first.

I think we've covered this before.

Late in the season, when they've run out of white jerseys for teams that go far in the playoffs, they simply take blank Raiders white jerseys and put the appropriate stripes and numbers on them. Hence you'll have disparities like this.

At least a hundred times. It's crap, but it's normal and it's still a licensed replica.

Also, the quality or accuracy of officially-licensed replicas or even on-field jerseys is NOT repeat NOT the issue here. NOT.

    NOT.

I apoligize, but I still don't understnad something. First off, counterfitting is illegal. I get it, and there is nothing to argue there. I think the problem is in the motive, why would the consumer want to purchase a product that they likely know is a fake? 6. i think im one of just a handful that think the gators should go to the white helmet they wore last year as a primary.

I'm with you on that one. I think the orange ones look too dated.

I don't hate the orange helmets, but the script is VERY dated. I haven't written in cursive since third grade.

Agreed. It's the script that ruins it for me.

  7. So, I have a whole lotta jerseys. But, I wanted to show three here. One is authentic; one is fake; the other I'm not really sure given the price paid for it. I'm curious, just from these pictures, who can tell the difference...

    th_2005NewEngland.jpg th_2002Cleveland.jpg th_2010Minnesota.jpg

From a distance, I think it's rather hard to tell. Get up close (or enlarge the photo) and the fake is obvious. Two of these jerseys cost $40, the other $85 (on sale). But, can you tell me which is which...?

I can tell you the Twins one is fake without even enlarging the picture. The tail of the script is wrong.

  8. I like the thread idea, Raysox.

A few I like that everyone else doesn't:

-Bengals current unis. Why does everyone hate them? I think they look cool.

-Vikings home and road unis. Perhaps it is just because I am a die-hard Vikes fan, but I like em.

-Vikings purple pants- only with the white jerseys. I would love to see them wear purple pants for at least a few road games.

    -The entire Seahawks look.

-Rams white pants at home- but not full time, just as an alternate.

-Steelers throwbacks with the yellow helmets and black jerseys.

    -Thrashers light blue jersey

    -Mooterus

    -Predators mustard 3rd jersey

-old green and black Devil Rays look

-old purple and black Diamondbacks look

-Mets black (the black/blue hat anyway)

And a few I don't like that everyone else does:

-Cowboys unis. They are so inconsistent.

-Raiders unis. They seem so bland and boring.

-Canadiens road jersey. It should use the same striping as the red jersey.

-There are a ton of classic, traditional teams that everyone loves. They usually only love the team's look because it is so traditional. Often the look is very dated or inconsistent, but just because it is classic or traditional, it automatically "looks good".

  9. Couldn't we just dig up the annual prototype thread?

Does it really matter that much to you? Has this thread somehow made your life a little less enjoyable? Unfortunately, the world just isn't as neat and orderly as we'd like.

On topic: I really like that Suns jersey.

Actually, I was considering digging it up because I have tons of pictures of prototypes and I don't want to take the time to load them all when I'm sure they are in some thread around here somewhere.

My fault. I apologize. I thought you were pulling a backseat mod thing. Back seat moderating drives me nuts.

You can find a bunch of the pics here.

No problem man. That link should help take care of quite a few. Thanks for sharing.

  11. I am just starting to try out Inkscape, and I am a bit confused with the whole file saving process. I know you have to save it as SVG to work in Inkscape, and in PNG as a picture. When I save it as a PNG and then go to view it as a picture (standard Windows photo gallery), it is small and has a lot of extra white space around it. Why is it smaller and how do you make the background transparent?

Also, is there a way to add more than one stroke (outline) to an object?

I have watched GBM's tutorials but I can't figure these two things out. Thanks for any help.
