Thank you guys for the comments! Not going to lie, highlights and shadows are a weakness of mine when designing logos so thank you for the advice.

I updated the logo with two designs, one with a faint shadow and one without.

     FB48Cfm.png

    9qcGMY7.png

    • Added more spikes to the back and left foot
    • Added more breaks to the side of the head
    • Added purple spikes on the ears
    • Re-added purple on the tail
    • Straightened out the side and belly
    • Added a highlight to the side of the body
    • Updated the front feet

Thanks for helping me out and let me know which design you like better and/or if there's anything else I need to add or change.

    I would say:

     - show the separation of feet from the legs like the old logo

     - have that line on the right side of the frog's leg run up a little more to show more separation of the leg and body

     - the tail and left back leg still look connected, so show a line there, too

     - I like the gray shadow

And you don't have to, but I'd like to see a little red under the eye.

(I'm the TCU fan here, so of course I'll have more thoughts on it than everyone else. But this is an improvement.)

At an event formally unveiling plans for a new state-of-the-art headquarters for the team, Seattle Sounders FC brass also announced that they're planning to "explore the club's identity" as part of an anniversary celebration dubbed "March to the 50th".

Chief Revenue and Marketing Officer Taylor Graham will head up the process which will incorporate talent from Seattle-based creative agency DNA, Seattle-based design studio Column, and New York-based creative studio Athletics. Graham reportedly said that the initiative could result in anything from a complete retooling of the Sounders' visual identity to a logo package that is barely changed.

Sounders FC Majority Owner Adrian Hanauer noted that the current Sounders brand is effectively disconnected from the historic brand and that the club's hope is to integrate the two during this process. He apparently stated, "This will ultimately be our fans deciding the look and feel of our marks going forward."

Second attempt at updating Washington: this time I went with the Redwolves nickname that’s been floated around. I actually think it makes a lot of sense, so I thought I’d whip up a logo/uniform concept

The look stays pretty true to what the team has traditionally worn, with some minor tweaks. I don’t think I love the yellow jersey, but I wanted to stay away from black and throwbacks are probably off-limits. I’d love to hear everyone’s thoughts on the Redwolves and Bengals. Thanks again for taking the time to have a look.

Well... so much for this... :(

    You sure?

You'd think that, Texas (especially the Metroplex) being "'Murica" personified, they would stay FAR away from any team with these European naming standards (main reason FC Dallas is thriving is because of their amazing academy). "You're in America, so call yourselves the (locale name) (nickname)!"

You kind of just did, didn’t you?

Oh trust me... no I didn't.

We all get that the name isn't great and hell, even I wanted them to go with "Fort Worth" despite the fact that I'm glad they used the Panther City moniker, but these subtle, smug (and slightly ignorant) comments get on my nerves.

You could ask why the team is named that, maybe learn something about a city that's new to this sport and pretty much never gets any attention outside of TCU, but nah, let's all just crap on it and throw out stereotypes.

The one and only problem I have with this is the Stockyards Coliseum motif, and it's the only problem I've had with this identity since it was revealed... well, other than not going with "Fort Worth".

People will see it and think San Antonio, not Fort Worth.

Unless the NCAA takes it over, which if I were them I'd rather not, what kind of money will they get? At the end of the day they still need to pay the bills and becoming a quasi-FC/BS division won't help them pay the bills.

The NCAA is as good as dead... at least on the football side of things, anyway.

There still needs to be some kind of collective bargaining agreement since we're pretty much acknowledging that this isn't "armature sports" as it should have been a long time ago.

Too many middle of the road teams and eventually we'll have 2-4 teams in each league that are winning everything and 60+teams that are just punching bags for those  8-12 teams at the top. It's a good way to kill off interest in the game when games are over before they even start. It won't be immediate, but it will eventually drag down the quality of games when Bama is beating every team it plays by 40 every week and Ohio State can just book their hotels for championship weekend in August.

But that's mostly already happening... only three schools since this playoffs started (Bama, Clemson, Ohio State) have been pretty much guarantees to make it in.

That's really not my point, though.  FBS and an FCS are both Division 1 with their own individual playoffs. I don't see what it would hurt if there's a sub-division in between, like with my C-USA examples, that has its own separate national championship.

If Kent State can win the Division I basketball championship, they should have the ability to win the College Football Playoff.

My only response to that is:

We have FBS and FCS in football, but not in basketball or other sports... so what difference would it make if we added a sub-division to the sub-division?

If you want to pretend that it's a true college football playoff, all of the leagues should have a chance for the title. Not saying automatic bids, but the current proposal of the 6 best league champions getting included in the playoffs. Before you say, "What about that mid-major with 4 losses"? . . .

    Don't assume.

I only did this because, if we're being honest, even in my fantasy mock up of these conferences and playoffs, they'll still find a way to keep these smaller schools out of the playoffs. Even now, I believe there should just be separate playoffs for the Power Five Four and Group of "Five".

I'm just going with what's being presented right now. Personally, I'd prefer an 8 team playoff, 16 max... but just the talks of that are currently on hold because of UT and OU.

  11. My fantasy set-up for College Conferences
    -------------------------------------------------------------
    Five 16 team "Super Conferences"
    ========================
    - "ACC" (ACC + Notre Dame & WVU)
    - "American XVI" (Best 15 of the Go5 teams + one Big XII member)
    - "B1G" (Big Sixteen; Big Ten + Two Big XII members)
    - "Pac-16" (Pac-12 + 4 Big XII members)
    - "SEC" (SEC + Texas and OU)
These 5 conferences play for the 12-team College Football Playoff with bowls.
    ______________________________________________________________________
    Conference USA
    ===========================================
    - Atlantic (12 teams)
    8 C-USA members + 3 independents + 1 FCS call-up
    - Central (14 teams)
    10 MAC members + 2 C-USA members + 2 FCS call-ups
    - Mountain (16 teams)
    9 Mt. West members + 4 FCS Call-ups + 2 C-USA members +1 Independent
    - South (16 teams)
    8 Sun Belt members + 7 C-USA members + 1 FCS call-up
This would basically be four different conferences falling under one brand and having its own separate 4-team playoff.

He mentioned that TCU might be more attractive to the PAC than TTU. Growing grad studies program, urban-ish campus (only one left in the Big XII), and, yes, it a religious private school but it's no where near the level of BYU or Baylor. When I was out in Texas, I spent a decent bit of time around TCU and it's not an overly religious outfit. My roommate was in grad school there for evolutionary psychology and knew quite a few fellow atheists. In the end, DFW is a helluva lot easier to get to than Lubbock.

I live down the street, I am a TCU supporter... can't tell you how many times I've been saying this to people.

TCU and Fort Worth fits in with "Pac 12 culture"  A LOT MORE than people think it would . . .

I'm not critiquing, I'm just going to say as Rangers fan and a Texan in general... that just doesn't look right without the Red White and Blue.

I was kind of hoping that COVID-19 would be the end of some of these pointless bowl games. Silly me, I forgot to realize that companies will throw millions of dollars at their feet.

While I won't say these other Bowl games are "pointless", I WILL say that it's funny seeing how they'll add more Bowls but having an 8 team playoff in a league of over 130 teams for the actual National Championship is too much and "diminishes the regular season"...
