Minnesota really did a number on Michigan State.

I think Michigan State might not be very good.

Someday voters will stop giving Miami top 25 preaseason rankings. Not that there's any excuse to be getting blown out by Middle Tennessee if you're any P5 school. I guess Cristobal is like Miami in that people really want him to be good in spite of all the evidence.

App State went full Falcons, giving up a 28-3 lead to James Madison. Mr. Madison is the new Sun Belt daddy I guess.

Tampa's looked pretty good, but definitely not as good as the Bills right now.

Hate to say it, but the Snatit is an absolute joke of an organization. Who would give all that money to Ryan freaking Tannehill besides us? And like 10 sacks in a playoff game, at home, as the 1 seed, against the f'in Bungles and they STILL LOSE?! If that doesn't convince you this team is pathetic, then I don't know what to tell you.

They're an organization that seems like it doesn't care. With better ownership, there's something there. Every decade or so they have a world-class defense, but they have no desire or drive to make something of that. Feels like some of that happens in spite of those in charge. But hey, at least they've been to a Super Bowl unlike Detroit or Cleveland.

Boy, am I glad I wasn't able to watch this game tonight. And that i'm not Mike Vrabel right now.

Agreed. If he worked for a real organization he'd get paid to not work. Instead he threw his lot in with the Titans.

My dream if I were a coach would be to get hired by a major program that thinks they're supposed to be title contenders like Auburn. That way I can get fired with a fat-ass buyout. But my dream is to be very lazy, because I'm built different.

Yep, the Snatit getting smacked just like I (and every Martian with half a brain) knew they would...no wonder they dressed up in icy surrender whites tonight.

Gonna steal this. Don't get too litigious about it, please.

Does Vrabel end up in the hot seat after this? Kinda feels like it may be just about that time. They’ve steadily declined every year since that fluke run to the AFC title game

His seat should be magma hot, but unlike the Titans I care about winning games.

The Bills look scary as hell. Titans look like their window has completely slammed shut.

This is the perpetual state of the Titans. Can you believe that there are people that thought that Tannehill was the guy? Tennessee is the least interesting team in professional football and they share a league with the Falcons. It's impossible to properly convey how impressive that is.

  6. Herm's Devils did beat Arizona 70-7 back when I was pretending to root for Arizona State. So that was neat. Otherwise, what a weird and dumb hire whose only great moment was predicated on the other school being run by people somehow even more incompetent.

As a football fan, how can you objectively not :censored:ing HATE the Falcons? What a useless franchise, my god.

Like, if you’re gonna suck and lose all the time, just suck and lose all the time. This kinda play week in and week out is absolutely ridiculous.

They're like the NFL's version of Nebraska, except without any history of winning to feel warm and fuzzy about.

I can't emphasize how much I do not do this normally, but the Broncos should fire Hackett. The Broncos screwed around trying to decide what to do on 4th down, finally went with a field goal but wasted so much much time they got a delay instead. Then they punted.

Then they stopped Houston to set up a punt return. Only problem? Denver didn't send out a punt returner and had to burn a timeout.

As I was typing this, Denver used their last timeout to avoid another delay. This is a very dumb team destined for fourth place in what is otherwise a very good division.

Yeah that's anothing thing, The Broncos gave up a haul for a QB they don't trust with the game on the line?

Not sure if it's a trust issue. I think it might be a stupidity issue. In what world does anybody prefer to take a 64 yard field goal? I will forever talk mess about Drew Lock, but any other coach would have let him go for it on 4th down vs. a SIXTY-FOUR YARD FIELD GOAL!

There are a couple of good things though. 1. Anytime I'm down on myself, I can remember that I didn't strategize around kicking a 64 yard field goal and 2. We can forever bury the idea that coaches are very special geniuses.

They're just some dudes. They might work harder (or at least longer) than most people and have way more pressure than the average person, but they're not special.

  9. I don't normally do this, but fire Hackett. That was a legendarily stupid coaching job. We've seen what needs to be seen here. Go ahead and move on to somebody that won't settle for a 64 yard field goal for no good reason. A field goal that wouldn't have been necessary if the Broncos had taken two chipshot field goals earlier instead of piss-poor 4th and goal plays.

Exactly what the powers-that-be that tuke CFB want us to do to do: continue to talk/debate/fight about it. Keeps the interest up, keeps them in the headlines...keeps the revenue dough rolling in.

If there is some media conspiracy, it's simply to pump up the bigger name teams. Having numbers beside both Texas A&M and Miami's names makes for better TV. A&M's resume thus far is a win over an FCS and a loss to App State. North Carolina beat an FCS and also beat App State in Boone but is still unranked. Such is the power of the preseason poll.

Realistically, most AP voters (and especially coaches poll voters) just lazily put teams they know. Notre Dame is still getting AP votes. Nebraska got a vote in the preseason poll. I mean I get it, it's hard to meaningfully rank teams after the first 10 or so.

If you watched that Texas game and didn't get the impression they're one of the 25 best teams in the country I dunno what to tell ya

If Texas A&M is a top 25 team and an App State team that dominated them isn't, then what are we doing?

  12. Texas getting ranked after a loss while Marshall and App State are still out after wins is only one way in which college football has shown that it's just a parody of itself.

The other being Nebraska refusing to wait a few weeks and instead just torching $7.5 million for no reason. We've reached peak embarrassment for Frost's Nebraska. Waiting to lose to Oklahoma and maybe Indiana isn't going to hurt anything.

They serious about boosting that Dallas skyline, ain't they? It'd be better if more than maybe 3 or 4 people outside Dallas even knew what was in Dallas' skyline. (Shoot, there's probably people in north Fort Worth who couldn't recognize the Dallas skyline if you put it right in front of them.) The killing thing is the skyline actually looks rather distinctive for what it is.

I recognize the Reunion Tower (had to look up its name though), but having that bridge randomly thrown in like that makes it look like they stole the Gateway Arch from St. Louis.

  14. Arkansas State trades in embarrassingly truncated sleeve stripes, for embarrassingly truncated shoulder stripes with new road jerseys. The home jerseys worn last week were the same as the old ones, with the sleeve stripes and rectangular font that ULM also uses. So not sure if this is going to be one of those weird things where the road and home jerseys are mismatched. Wouldn't be the first time.

They were even picked to finish behind James Madison? This is JMU's first season in FBS.

Yep, Old Dominion was picked 7th, and James Madison 6th. Also kind of surprising because Old Dominion went to a bowl game last year, while Georgia Southern for instance only won three games.
