  1. Hadn't heard that info before. Interesting. It would definitely explain, why the Lakers have this lighter yellow shade issue, all while Nike has had the proper darker shade available for the Jazz.
  2. Not a fan of the rainbow style overall, but I do think they did a pretty good job with these. The green shades tie in well with purple, and even though I didn't notice at first that there was also a blue panel, I doesn't really bother me or break the harmony. I also had a similar thought about the collar, but it doesn't ruin the jersey for me. Other than that, they really should've used the wordmark from those same jerseys that came before the current set. What about their Earned uni from last year that had the antler template? Aren't we gonna see it again? Should've been their primary template.
  3. Yeah, I figured. Would've still preferred to see the net side panels on both sides, since as I said, they don't really work together, and this style was already thrown back to previously.
  4. Always found that Nets wordmark ugly, and while they did the right thing in adding the Kidd era side panel pattern, the Dr J era stripe with the stars doesn't work there in such a narrow form. All in all very meh. Should've put the aforementioned side panels on both sides, they had always been very symbolic for the Nets to me. The notch wasn't present in the big logo sculpture they repainted nor in the practice court graphics that we saw. Seeing the logo in just plain black is very underwhelming, though. Would've benefitted of a yellow outline, if they're about to use it as a team color.
  5. I love the impact that Rubio has had. Exactly what the team needed.
  6. I thought at first that maybe it could do without the pinstripes, since the honeycomb gradient is clearly the thing of these mixtape jerseys – otherwise it would be a perfect primary jersey without the gradient elements – but the stripes do compliment the look.
  7. You know, even though the Hornets' jersey was overkill at the upper part with the pinstripes going over the honeycomb, it still ended up among the better sets from this mashup theme (they're still using the improperly thick stripes, like they used to on the Classic editions a couple years ago). A very cohesive and representative set of the Hornets' identity through the years, capturing the 90s' spirit and capitalizing on the current trends at the same time. It is basically a fashion jersey, which it's more suitable for, but that's where we are with the NBA and Nike nowadays, having teams wear different fashion jerseys on the court. BTW, Miami's set is as well executed in a fashion jersey sense. The Spurs' set is nice, but I would've kept the numbers black too, with the colored outline, that's what it's missing to me to have the right visual balance. Lakers' purple and powder blue set is rather nice too, blows their primary purples with black out of the water (which isn't a hard feat to accomplish). Boston also has some appealing elements going on in their unis, even though I'm not sure all of them – like the white nameplate under the number right above the white waistband – necessarily work together. The Rockets' managed to make their unis quite interesting too after I wasn't excited at all to see them just switch the yellow in their championship era logo to gray. Very well constrained all in all without going overboard, using the T-Mac era side panels on the shorts on what is otherwise the Barkley era base, and the wordmark from their championship identity as a nice accent. I would've liked to see the 90s' rocket added to the center court logo, though. Also, what is the grayscale gimmick that OKC is doing with the court too? Who thought it was a good idea with an already lackluster identity? Am I missing something?
  8. This. On both accounts. Still no Nunn either. I expected him to be an important contributing factor for the Lakers.
  9. The whole jersey just looks very bootleg like some unprofessional fan concept. It has the bird crammed together with the art deco wordmark above it in a double outline, and a different style, heavy block number in a double outline and a drop shadow stacked on top of it all. Then it has the number in a different font on the back, which doesn't work to begin with. They needed to have the wordmark without any outlines, like it was in the original, or with only one. Should've also used the lighter number style on the front moving the drop shadow block font to the back, if they so much wanted to have two different number styles.
  10. Why did the Suns and the Jazz opt out of having a mixtape jersey, again? The leaked Suns' set was decent for the theme and on par with many of the better looks of all the rest. Also, it doesn't sit well with me that the Hawks recolored the ball in the logo to red both on the uniforms and the court, making it the same color as the bird, while otherwise using the color scheme of that identity. I also didn't expect the Knicks to look that good and fitting in black. They pull it off totally without having to roll your eyes at the sight of a team after another jumping on the black bandwagon just because (...it apparently sells well). What they did to the logo at center court leaves me scratching my head, though. I wouldn't have filled it all with black.
  11. I don't know what was the skepticism about the pick at first, it was visible from his college play that he's got it. Jalen Green, on the other hand, looked to me like just another Coby White, and hasn't changed that perception yet.
  12. Nice to see the shiny fabric come back. It was such a shame when it was abandoned, it added another dimension to uniform design. And for some teams – like Miami, Denver, Milwaukee and Houston – it was their thing, and their uniforms really lost in appeal after the switch to regular fabric.
  13. I don't have anything against that wishbone collar per se, some styles it really fits that happen to be modern, like that Lakers' set in question, which is my favorite all-time, or the Pistons jerseys of the same era to this day, or the Heat and what the Raptors used to have, it's not terrible even for the Warriors, but it does look better when it's of the same base color as the jersey itself. However, it doesn't match the classic style that is that Dallas wordmark and numbers, together with the "modern" style side panels they still use. EDIT: You could say that the Lakers' wordmark and number font are similar "classic" in style as what the Mavs have there, but the additional outline gives it a more dated look, and the modern collar is of different color than the jersey base, which wasn't the case for the Lakers.
  14. I know it's supposed to be a mashup, but that collar style they use now doesn't fit at all with the classic-style wordmark, nor do those side panels on the jersey. Not a coherent and successful outcome to me.
  15. That would be really cool if they mishmashed the numbers for each player too.
  16. Those alternates were great and I'm not ashamed to say it at all. One among the numerous recolor alternates in the league with slight changes during those times, that didn't feel as forgettable disposable afterthought like the current alternates produced by the City program etc do. That's what it was about. I liked the regular whites and reds too.
  17. Yes, only the NBA logo is missing on the front.
  18. Thanks, it happened to drop out of my mind. That was my thought exactly that there is no way Nike will let it be like that, unnoticeable, and if it's still possible to readjust for this season, they will definitely do it. An outline or adding a shade of color to the logo - I see it coming.
  19. Talking about the Nike diamond logo, I might've missed this info completely, but what happens to the Jumpman logo that is on the Statement jerseys in this case? Does it get the same treatment, or will the diamond Nike just be used instead of it on the Statements too this year?
  20. The wordmark change at the baseline is a downgrade, I see no other purpose to this other than to accomodate a baseline ad.
  21. I didn't hate that uni at all, and while it was definitely overthought and overcomplicated in certain parts, it was decent and visually interesting and certainly better than anything that came afterwards. Those side panels wouldn't fit with that mashup jersey, though, since they would clash with the tree trim and there would be too much going on.
  22. This looks more like just a recolor of one of their regular current identity jerseys more than a mashup... The only thing different I see is the pre-update wordmark that is of the same style. And I can't tell if the base color is black or navy. This doesn't say "mashup" to me that much.
  23. Wow, Minnesota hit it out of the park. The "fur" side panels from the lackluster gray City (or whatever) jersey weren't even necessary, although, they're not making it worse either. I'd like to see something along those lines for the regular sets.
  24. By typography I mean the wordmark and the fonts. Not that the font in the logo is anything worth mentioning. The last part of your comment totally contradicts itself. Talking about force. Right, because the jazz music is so menacing.... Generic mountain identity? FWIW, the mountains have everything to do with Utah, contrary to nothing when it comes to jazz, if we go that route (no need to). Not that it's much relevant, but... the mountains are not "a force"? Really? What mattered is that the Jazz had a unique and powerful identity with character that happened to include mountains, nowhere similar to the Nuggets', that was represented by a prominent team and players at the time that wasn't one that "you know, nobody talks about the Jazz..." (last All-Star draft). Even the note logo can be done differently. The way it is, is very plain and uninspiring. The "generic mountain identity" blows this note identity out of the water in terms of character.
