He is a Pens fan, but like...how do you not rip into the Bruins with everything you have for this catastrophic meltdown if you're a sports :censored:poster?
That, and he already ripped the Penguins to shreds.

It's like the Gods of Chaos wanted to have some fun with the playoffs and, lo and behold, this is what we get...
Florida stunning Boston and Seattle stunning Colorado.
Man, I love Chaos.

Feels nice for Toronto fans to get the 20 ton King Kong sized gorilla off of their backs. The only way this gets better for them is if Florida does the unthinkable tomorrow night and beats Boston in Game 7.
Ending the drought AND avoiding Boston? Yeah, I think there are a few Leaf fans here that might end up like the end result of a sugar high if that happens.

CBS probably won't want to put a CFL Thursday or Friday night game on network primetime even in summer
Might not be a bad idea if whatever summer programming they have doesn't work out.

Paramount is CBS.
My thought is that whatever games they don't show on CBS Sports Network would be on Paramount+ for those who want to see the other games. With 34 regular season games shown by CBS Sports Network, that means the other 48 games this season (82 in all) could be on Paramount+.
This doesn't include the playoff games and the Grey Cup, but I would think that the Grey Cup would be televised... maybe put it on CBS for even more exposure.

Miami sold their souls to the devil. How else do you explain their garbage regular season?
But it's OK for Miami. They'll go 38-44 next year but because they have JIMMY BUTLER they'll be treated like they only have to try hard in the playoffs if they get there.
Garbage? They won their division. That's not garbage, man. That's just the NBA punishing those who win weak ass divisions.

As someone who lives in Washington State, I can definitely pitch in with this project. Here's a few ideas for teams.
-As @TheGiantsFan mentioned, Leavenworth is a must. They should a Bavarian style for it since it is well known for being like Bavaria in Central Washington.
-I notice that there isn't much for SW Washington on here, so that will need to be taken care of. Here's a few ideas to help with that.
-Vancouver: Fort Vancouver SC (The fort is a major part of the city's history. If you're looking for a shirt sponsor, I would suggest Zoominfo for that - a local software and data company)
-Longview/Kelso: Three Rivers United (The 'Three Rivers' name stems from the fact that there are three rivers in the area - The Cowlitz, the Coweeman and the Columbia. The colors should have some combination of blue (the high schools have blue), red (for R.A Long High School in Longview) and brown (for the paper making industry). As for shirt sponsor? Easy - Kapstone. Once known as Longview Fibre, this company is known for cardboard. You could also use Weyerhaeuser here instead as they built the world's largest sawmill in Longview in 1931)

That's going to be the plan as the ASUN is going to down to four football schools after 2024 when Kennesaw State leaves for Conference USA. The WAC is basically propping up the ASUN in this alliance.

Kind of looks like Utah fleeced the Timberwolves on that trade...
Anyway, am I the only one here peeved over Miami, a division winner, being in the freaking Play-In Round? They won their division, at least give them a top six seed as to make sure this doesn't happen again.
Hell, make the division winners the top three seeds again. If that weak-ass division winner is as much of a fraud as people say they were, the sixth seeded team would make short work of them.

Yay. It'll be nice to see the Kraken in the playoffs.
Meanwhile, Boston now has 62 wins on the season, tying the record for most wins. They're also three points away from tying the 76-77 Canadians for the most points earned in a season.
If they go at least 1-0-2, they'll break the record for points AND wins.

Sooo the league might strip the Mavs of their first round pick? Or what's the punishment?
Dallas missing the playoffs even with the reigning undisputed Cancer of the Year award winner is punishment enough. No need to throw salt on this wound.

Ugh, slow starts suck. Then again, Seattle recovered from a 2-4 start to win 90 games and make the playoffs last season, so no panic here.

I'll also throw in this for Cavemen SC: Grants Pass High School is known as the Cavemen.

Quite the April Fool's joke they pulled... good job, Battlehawks.

Is that really true?
Legit question - how does a state governor accept/reject applications for federal funds? Not saying it doesn't happen that way, but on the surface it just doesn't sound right to me.
1. I'm not sure, but when I did write it out... I didn't know the full story. The reality was that it was a confluence of events that lead to the closing: Operating costs, enrollment trends and a very sharp drop in philanthropic giving. The $12 million in federal COVID-19 relief funds was meant to help keep the school afloat for the time being... but the governor rejected the application.
2. There are reasons as to why a governor could accept or reject applications. In this case, Governor Reynolds had got in contact with a third party accounting firm to assess the situation and they found out that the school got a $26 million loan from the Department of Agriculture, with the school itself as collateral. It was also mentioned that while the school saw increased enrollment, their financial health was also getting worst.
-
Iowa Wesleyan is another example of how the COVID-19 lock down and the aftermath from them have harmed these smaller schools. It also doesn't help that inflation has made it harder for kids to go to school and other things.
What sealed their fate was the rejection of a request for $12 Million in federal funds by the state's governor, who seems hell bent on making Iowa into the 'Mississippi of the Midwest', but this isn't the place for that kind of conversation.
In terms of conferences affected by this... the American Midwest will basically be where it is now because the move isn't happening at all now. On the other hand, the North Star gets hit *again* because Iowa Wesleyan was a football affiliate of theirs. Along with Presentation closing, the conference is now down to five football playing schools. I personally think that these schools should merge with the Frontier Conference for football. Now, yes, there are the outlier schools in Idaho, Oregon and Arizona that would make travel a little tricky for some of the schools (Waldorf being the biggest one of the North Star schools), but the schools in Montana and the Dakotas would love to see games between their schools.

But guys, think of the TV ratings and those poor execs running CBS!
The ratings might not be as bad as you think. San Diego State-Florida Atlantic being the under card here makes for a compelling match-up: The Owls' sharp shooting from three point range against the battle tested Aztec D.
Miami and UConn is the main event: The Huskies are the highest seeded team left and are also the only team here with a national championship under their belt. Miami is riding high after coming back to defeat Texas...
-
Florida Atlantic's win makes them the first member of Conference USA to make the Final Four since 1977, when Charlotte did it (Of course, the 49ers were in the Sun Belt at that time).
This is also huge for C-USA because all the money that FAU is getting by winning these games goes to the Owls and the other members of C-USA (which was something I was wondering about since FAU is leaving for the American next season - does C-USA get the money from FAU's showing or does that money go with them to the American?)

And if that is official, will the NEC rebound back with new expansion members or wait til their new callups to become full D-I members for that (i.e.: Stonehill, who just joined during this school year), or even in a worse case scenario (which is having upto 8 members and staying that way forever without expanding at all, shades of the MEAC in that route)?
It wouldn't be a bad idea to keep their eyes peeled for schools in the region that are looking to make the jump to D-I.
I know that Le Moyne and New Haven are the most likely targets for them since that would give them a nice round number (10) to work with.

Talk about a shocker that was unexpected. Saint Francis (N.Y.) is a D-I school right? And if so, that would be another blow for the NEC.
Yes it is and man, does it hurt for the NEC. To think, less then 24 hours ago, Fairleigh Dickinson was the toast of the college basketball world despite losing to Florida Atlantic.
What this does is put the league down to eight members for the foreseeable future... which is not a bad thing, mind you. In Basketball, you get an 8 team league. Football still has their 8 teams (7 full members and Duquesne).

The No. 1 seed tallest team in the country with the national player of the year loses to the No. 16 seed shortest team in the country who wasn’t even supposed to be here.
You can’t script an upset more perfect than that.
To make this even better, not only is it the first time FDU won in the 1st Round of the tournament, it's also the first time a team from the Northeast Conference has won a 1st Round game. Before today, the NEC was, like, 0-31 in the 1st Round. FDU was 0-5 in the tournament themselves.
In fact, I'm gonna say it - this is a far bigger upset then what UMBC did against Virginia five years ago. FDU was number 68 overall. They were the worst team according to the committee. Worst then a sub-.500 Texas Southern team. FDU wiped the floor with the Tigers on Wednesday to get to this game. Now?
Well, the sky's the limit for them.
