Here's another idea i've had (and trying out new template built from @OhioSportsMan61's templates), doing something like the Everett Silvertips for the Avalanche. I used the mountains from the new Colorado Rockies City Connect uniforms. Just can't pinpoint the best combination for equipment (blue/burgundy).

I came around majorly on the Avs' blue equipment this postseason. I was pretty firmly set on Team Black Equipment, but after seeing it for a few years now the blue equipment is easily superior. Honestly what did it was that Twitter post the Avs put out that was linked like 10 pages ago that had a player in blue equipment next to a player in black equipment, and when I saw the black equipment I thought it was an edited photo to make the shorts and helmet look like a locked feature in a video game for some reason.
All this to say, though, the absolute weakest part of the Avs' whole identity now is the blue numbers on the away jersey. Maybe it's because of the burgundy outlines, or maybe it's just because I got so used to dark colored numbers on the roads, but those light blue numbers are really tough to look at for me. It ruins the look for me. I feel like I'd almost prefer them to just use burgundy numbers and risk an overabundance of burgundy. Then again, maybe what the road uniform needs is not a silver outline on the numbers but that extra blue stripe to not make the numbers feel so out of place.
First half of this is me exactly as well. At first I did not like the blue at all. But, I also didn’t see it a ton. That same post got me thinking, it was the inception point. Having followed the Avs for the playoffs I got used to it, and then honestly making their uniforms for EA NHL04 mods really brought me to embrace it.
Even the road, which I at first hated how there was no blue on the jersey. So I made both, and I just looked at it so much that I felt the jersey lost some of that updated feeling with the single stripe. Looking at the road as a whole now, with the blue equipment and blue numbers, it works fine for me.
i do agree on the point that the silver needs to be a little brighter. I think the fact I could adjust that for the game helped my transition a lot.

Here's another idea. More directly inspired by the Colorado flag.

I know this isn't anything groundbreaking but here is another uniform. Call it a jump from their other Stadium Series or a variation of their current alternate. After this i might do one more, I want to make a blue uniform for them that works, so we'll see. I think I've finally come over to the 'Blue Side' of the Avalanche debate, so these are just all bouncing in my brain.

the white numbers maybe aren't the best idea. maybe blue numbers with a white outline so it looks like part ok the stripe
Yes. At first I thought the silver was enough to make it stand out but guess not. I’d change it to blue, just haven’t yet

Here's another option, which frankly I do like better than the last. This is an update to the Avalanche's original alternate jersey to fit the new updated branding with more blue, new font for the "COLORADO" and numbers of course.

Thought about it some more and if the burgundy doesn't work out, here's blue.

I could have sworn I've seen something like this before, but couldn't find it. Basically reworking the Stadium Series uniform a bit. Changed to burgundy equipment.

This is awesome. The black alternate is really nice, but honestly my favorite are the edge unis. Your evolution makes perfect sense though for each era, although I wonder if a total rebrand would have come instead of going stealth.

The application of the new Stanley Cup logo with the patches is sooooo good. Sewn on like that example earlier and it does a great job of having a big event feel without being too in the way
I was kind of indifferent to it but watching the game it does look really good.

i'm in a weird transitional state where i'm starting to recognize the black gear doesn't fit with the Adidas version of the Avs as much as the original, but also still not 100% on board with the blue. I'm seeking help and soon i will make it.

Alright, this might be my last entry in this unpopular topic, but it's the last team that jumped out at me for a possible connection with this template. I give you the Washington Capitals in a different terrible edge template:

This was one of the worst templates of the Reebok era. I'm not sure that recoloring it for more teams makes it a better template. Both the Jets and Avs look better now than in a paint-by-numbers sweater.
The stripe on the Jets' pants is pretty cool, though I'd probably reverse the direction of the plane so it matches the logo and doesn't look like it's in a nose dive
I get that. I'm just playing with it. If used in certain ways it isn't as bad I guess. To me it can be a cool, modern design utilizing the underside of the arms in a way no one does. For sure OTT and PIT did it no favors, let alone the fact that 3 teams used the same template in the first place. I wonder if Tampa was the only team to use it if it would have gotten the same level of hate.
I had the same thought this morning on the Jet stripe, so maybe i'll swap it.

Next up is Colorado, with two options to continue the blue vs burgundy conversation.

I don't know how I fell down this rabbit hole, but I ended up looking back at the Lightning's edge uniforms and I have a new found appreciation for them, if not a guilty pleasure for it I suppose (except the socks). Yes, it is a template, but they used it so much better than any other team that had the same base. It's modern and simple. So, I started having fun with it and seeing what other teams it could work for. There probably won't be many, I don't plan on doing every team, but here we go.
Starting with the Jets.
This one is perhaps the easiest transition and because of that really works for me. It helps emphasize the aviator blue on both uniforms without throwing the balance off too much, and it was an easy leap to go from the lightning bolt on the pants the streaming jet.

Regardless, if it ends up being Colorado - Edmonton for the West final it should just be Edm whites vs Col darks the whole time.

Thanks @WavePunter. I worked on it some more. I think i have it 98% there. Just playing with color arrangement and deciding if the outermost stroke should go around the head. Also kicking around if i want some more detail in the beard/stache or not, keeping in mind it'd be small as a shoulder logo.

Also this adjustment not only on the neck but the color, matching their current C logo.

How's this update? still unsure what the best solution is for the back of the neck, but swapping the colors on the V helped blend the head to it better.

I really like the concept! It looks really good. The only thing that looks odd (imo) would be Johnny's neck.
Thanks. That’s the area I’m working on now to try and connect the head to the V.

Started working on this today to put onto a Canucks concept. I like the idea of the Johnny Canuck logos, but not the execution. The Vancouver Giants new alternate really hit that concept out of the park, so i wanted to use that to update the V logo for a shoulder patch. I have to figure out how i want to join the head to the V, so that'll be the next update.

Love the Sharks home and road. The orange really sticks out and adds to the look, more so than what they’ve actually done with it. My main feedback was going to be teal numbers on the road. It’ll help balance more especially with the arm design being black. I’d like their old font that went with this style jersey as well, or something new. Block font doesn’t fit the curves as well.
also, small detail, but I’d use the fin logo on the pants at the very least, if not the shoulders.

Ownership prefers the orange, IIRC. And from what I've seen, most fans are fine with either color scheme being used as long as the original logo is back in the primary position.
Not that I’m a dedicated Ducks fan, but I kind of fall into this group. Eggplant/jade is unique, orange/black feels like a fit for California team. I actually really like how the logo is on the orange alts.
uniforms need to be fixed either way though.

I think if the Oilers took a different approach with the "McDavid Era" of navy it would have worked out differently. Believe someone else posted this recently as well. Not even going with what the Condors used, since it's really just changing the blue to navy, but there were a few ways they could have done it that would have been a smoother transition, close enough to the old but still new.
Something like this would have been an ideal route for this approach:
You could have white or orange numbers for the homes, slightly updated gloves with just the orange cuff or solid navy, but overall I feel it's a good blend/update of their past looks. Although maybe i'd go back to the curved pants stripes as well, since those were unique to them.
