  1. If it wasn't about money and was more about academics, FSU and Clemson wouldn't be trying to bolt the ACC. The question for Boise State isn't how smart they are. The question is how much money will they bring in. If they keep on winning they will always have hope. Not saying it is a lot of hope but academics will not be the dismissal.
  2. That is true, too. Actually, the more I think about it the more I call BS on PK's post. Was it Nebraska the lost it's AAU status? However, still an uphill battle for Boise State but I am not saying it is as much as a reach as people think. It is all about $$$$$$$$$
  3. Part of the Pac-12 (and the Big Ten, for that matter) is that they require their members to also be major research institutes in some field. It can come off as a little snobby, but they wish to preserve the academic integrity of the league. For that reason, I'm almost 100% positive that Boise State will never get the Pac-12 call. BYU might, if the league can agree to accommodate their religious scheduling objections. Yeah, I made the post with BYU 99% in mind. Just threw Boise State out there. However, I do think the Pac 12 will have to figure something out. 16 in inevitable one day soon.
  4. If everyone else moves to 16, the Pac 12 needs to to keep up. Then BYU might get in by default. You can work around the Sunday thing if needed. Even if BYU is football only. Hard but possible if desperate. I think Boise State could get lucky this way, too....if they keep winning. Just pointing out how I think it isn't impossible. Extremely hard but not impossible due to slim pickins out west. It may not happen this year but CFB is moving to 4 huge conferences of 16 with a pod system.
  5. I think they will stay put for awhile for geo reasons. I'm not sure if the SEC will bite or not. It is the best time with the ACC about to be cherry picked by the Big 12 and possibly the B10. Didn't B10 already express interest in expanding if it presents itself? I don't remember. I can see VT fit in very nicely with the SEC so you might as well grab a 16th. That is why I think NCState. They don't think of basketball like the other two NC schools. Might as well get the NC market with them to bring yourself to 16.
  6. UNC and Duke have no concerns for football. I think they will work with the Big East in some sort of fashion.
  7. Sadly, I think FSU is first domino of the ACC They are and they tried to tell Swofford that. He didn't listen so now the ACC is dead. Way to go, Swofford. To the "why is the SEC going after NC State? They aren't a power". It isn't about power. It is about markets. I mean, Mizzou and A&M aren't better programs than NC State. They really haven't mattered in CFB in a long time. It is the Markets they wanted. The SEC is strong enough to focus on markets rather than super powers. Who would you get rather than Nc State?
  8. FSU is in. Big 12 will pay most of the exit fee. Noles to the Big 12
  9. Someone is teasing that Yahoo! is about to break something huge. CFB related but I don't know what. Going to break tonight. Has to be Big 12 expansion or another program done something bad again. Big FSU news in an hour. Notre Dame is being wined and dined by the Big 12. Of course the ACC/Big East/Big 10 has been doing this for years.
  10. Rams. You might have nailed it. Barron's job may be gone.
  11. This is gonna be a stupid question, but what value does NC State bring to any conference expansion, really? Their football hasn't been that good and the rest of their athletic program's mediocre, plus they aren't making that much money from what I understand, so it's not like there's that much to gain by adding them. I mean I guess there's the research triangle deal with them, but wouldn't that make UNC and Duke way more valuable? Footprints and what not. Feel the need to get the NC market. Duke & UNC want basketball number one. Big East at ACC has decided to go that route. Will they work together? Anyways, Duke and UNC see things the way Swofford does. That is why FSU is pissed.
  12. I think when it is all said and done you will find out that FSU and the Big 12 has been talking for awhile. I think FSU gave the ACC a chance but the new contract was crap. FSU said, c-ya!
  13. Interesting tweet from Corey Fravel. "My sources confirm an agreement in principle has been reached for Clemson to join the Big12" Super conferences are coming?? Some smoke about the SEC talking to VT and NC State. And now a lot of people are saying FSU is in.
  14. Enjoy hiring a new President after this. Granted finding one is going to be hard. I wonder how much of his pro ACC rant was a PR directed move by the emperor...I mean the BOT. Anyone who knows how these decisions are made knew he had no say. The BOT has all the power. Remember, the prez and AD told Bobby he could stay as long as he wanted. The BOT's said GTFO old man.
  15. Sounds like Texas is saying "I don't want to but since you are twisting my arm." I'm excited! I think FSU is a done deal. It is just a matter of who goes with them and how many. Today I am expecting just two teams but they can change in an hour. I think this is great for CFB....if your team made it. Heh, just heard the AD and BOT told the FSU prez that he would not be needed in this decision.
  16. BYU wont be in the big 4. Their no Sunday play really hurts them. I don't know the deal with VT/UVA. I noticed myself that no one in the media is counting them as a packaged deal. Great question.
  17. The more I think about it the more I like the idea of the Cotton always hosting the Big12/SEC winners in the first round. Same with the Rose always having BIG/Pac Champs. It will still get Championship ratings. Let the Orange, Sugar and Fiesta rotate. Tradition is kept/made. I have a feeling Big 10 may snag Maryland if they can land ND. Big 12 gets FSU, Clemson, VT and Louisville. All fun speculation except for FSU. Again, i'd bet the farm five years from now they wont be in the ACC. Big 12 has a chance to get the biggest Florida school available. In state foes from the rival conference is great with that new bowl contract. One more random thought. I think the three other big conferences are cheering for the Big 12 to take FSU and whomever. They want the Big Four Empire. This will get done. TCU and Utah were the lucky ducks in all of this.
  18. So they just made the Cotton Bowl at JerryWorld have slightly higher prestige? He isn't a very good GM but he is an awesome business man. Cotton Bowl might end up hosting a playoff game.
  19. A 8 team playoff if you think about it. Me likey.
  20. Pretty much. The Big Four conferences will probably just end up raiding the remnants of the ACC and the new Big East and that will be that. Thanks, BCS, for ruining college football. I see where you are coming from. Luckily my school got in the big four (fingers crossed) so im happy with it. I will miss the underdogs coming out of nowhere. FSU became FSU by doing that. I think this will be the last earthquake for CFB conferences but it will be a doozy.
  21. I think this was all foreseen. I think the playoff will become the contracts in the first round. I think this is why they made the move to the FBS so easy and dropped old standards. There will be two FBS. They will be known as two different entities. The SEC likes it the Big 12 is getting good. It is healthy for both. Same with B16 with Pac 12.
  22. No doubt. Meaningless exhibition bowl game, anyway. So happy for this four team playoff. I think this will be the final straw for ND to go somewhere. I think the ACC is about to get carved up.
  23. Interesting tweet from Greg Swain. Greg Swaim ‏ @ GSwaim # FSU, # VaTech, # Clemson fans fasten your seatbelts...this may happen much quicker than even we anticipated!! The new Bowl deal between the Big 12 and the SEC is a big indicator to me.
  24. The higher ranked are the ones crying about the ACC and talking about the Big 12. It is the underlings saying they are happy with the ACC. Classic business PR. Staying in a basketball conference will kill FSU football. FSU football still pulls in ratings and the Big 12 sure could use a Florida school right about now. I am a huge believer in where there's smoke, there is fire. Too much chatter for nothing to be happening. I'd bet the farm that FSU wont be in the ACC five years from now. Oh, and Louisville and the Big 12 has been talking for awhile. FSU and Clemson calling the Big 12 (Who has been sewn at the hip lately) threw in the monkey wrench. Just another fun rumor.
  25. The two Big East schools are the Cards and Bearcats. I am hearing the Big 12 is willing to pay FSU's exit fee. The ACC meetings are in my hometown right now. Doubt any news will leak. They are all probably drinking scotch and playing golf all weekend.
