The 90s helmets had much thicker navy helmet stripes...thus making the "it's in the details" line pretty ironic.

Nike only cares about details up until the point they interfere with their ALMIGHTY TEMPLATES. Because as you know, elite teams would play like NAIA squads if a few stitches and panels were moved.

BTW, I HATE the idea of a rivalry game having a presenting sponsor.

The Apple Cup has been “presented by Boeing”... but since it’s the state’s largest employer it doesn’t really grind anyone’s gears. Maybe it should, though, Boeing has been fleecing taxpayers through threats to move jobs away for decades now.

In my opinion, the great majority of college football uniforms from the year 2000 are infinitely better looking than what is worn today. And I was in 8th grade that season.

    Truth.

I think the turn of the century was the golden age for football and probably basketball uniforms too. I’d say things peaked between 2000 and 2005, before Nike/Oregon fully opened up the Pandora’s box of crap, and invented the lie that uniform fads somehow matter in recruiting (the multimillion dollar facilities do, with a side of free apparel, which they’ll like no matter what... because it’s free).

UCLA has a racial justice patch covering the UA mark on the jerseys. UA mark is still visible on pants, cleats, and accessories

If this is an intentional shot at UA for trying to cancel their contract it’s pretty hilarious

    RE: Maryland

The state flag has been part of their identity for decades now. The M banner logo was introduced in the nineties. The only identities they've had prior to that was the script Terps logo, and block letter M's. I know they've gone overboard with the flag over the last 15+ years, but this little beauty posted below was a very nice change up from the plain block M that preceded it.

This is a great logo. I just think the key is keeping the black/yellow as an accent and not an essential feature. Under Armour went off the deep end and it’s hurt what was a really cool brand.

Maryland desperately needs something new. Get off the flag stuff, just work with the unique color scheme, find something from the past.  Somehow they're currently managing to be both over designed and boring at the same time.

    This x 1000.

Under Armour has succeeded in making Maryland their Oregon, only for some reason there aren’t a million internet fanboys for whatever crap Maryland spews out each week.

I’d also like to take this opportunity to post my favorite Maryland uniforms back from when Nike gave them a consistent identity that wasn’t just “our state flag threw up”. Probably controversial but I love them:

New State alts for 11/14 vs Florida State - Blood Moon

    Original Speculation from teaser video...

      Reveal hidden contents

    Judging from this...

Matte Black helmet with regular sized Tuffy head logo, no stripe.

Red jersey color swap with black and chrome outline on numbers/striping and WOLFPACK instead of NC STATE on chest.

Black Pants, maybe NC STATE on pants leg instead of Wolfpack in the red/chrome coloring - maybe just plain black?

Adidas templates are total trash right now. For football and the other football.

Looks like the gray pants might be out for Ole Miss after wearing the white ones for the third week in a row.

Will be interested to see if Lane Kiffin makes this a permanent change.

Yes!! Just because the NY Giants did it does not mean every navy blue and red team has to wear gray pants. Kansas has also been very guilty of this over the years.

Notre Dame with lotsa patches this year. “Rally” seems to be the team mantra for the season, but I’m not sure what it’s doing on the jersey...

More like puke and rally, at I right folks???

This kind of garbage cluttter is going to get us stuck with more ads on unis eventually. I fear that someday the have-nots in CFB will start looking like Mexican soccer teams

  10. A&M could be good... but Adidas is the worst. What the heck fabric do they use that looks like corduroy? And on top of that everything is strrretched to heck so the numbers and nameplate get pulled out of alignment and look like crap on the field.

Nike and UA are capable of making unis that fit tight to the pads so they can’t be held by other players... without looking like football leotards.

  11. MLS is just the worst. I kind of want them to collapse. Seattle and Portland and other cities that care will find a way to have a club still. Although I’m sure MLS will hold onto the trademarks for dear life even though they weren’t even the original creators in the aforementioned cities.

Fortunately they keep finding investors who keep finding more investors who keep finding more investors.

I wonder if there is a name for that kind of scheme...

Doubt it. They would still blend in with the million other teams that use navy as their main color.

Agreed. In a vacuum I really like the Padres identity. The problem is you have LA, KC and Detroit already using blue and white (albeit lighter in the first two cases) and a whole slew of teams with blue and white in their color scheme (usually with the addition of red but sometimes another color).

Wouldn't the Padres’ identity look just as clean with dark brown instead of dark blue? And in that case it would at least be unique.
