  1. Me too, I think thats really cool and wouldn't mind if more teams adopted that sytle too
  2. If the team is dead set on using the uniforms they debuted, here are two changes that I would really like to see. Switching the facemask out to gold really ties everything together with this uniform and harkens back to the history of this franchise. The next change is on the away uniform. I shared one I found on Twitter a few posts up that looks a lot better than what they're using, but I would swap out the colors on the numbers. Bring back the gold outlines that they've been using for the last 40 years and switch the gradient in the numbers to black. According to team president Jason Wright they had to include black on the uniform in order to have a black alternate, so doing it this way would still allow that but keep it to a minimum.
  3. my second biggest gripe about the new helmet after the fact that it lacks a gold facemask is that the 'W' decal makes the stencil line shiny. Should've gone with a fully cut and transfered decal to get rid of those spots or should've gone with the metallic finish
  4. Ran across this photoshop of the away jersey on Twitter, its not perfect but still way better than what we got And in case anyone wants to see my version of the rebrand, check out my post in the Concept forum here https://boards.sportslogos.net/topic/125084-washington-commanders-giving-them-a-respectable-look/
  5. Haha, that would be cool, but I'm just a fan that likes to dabble with photoshop I know, I've seen a number of concepts for this brand and they are all better than what we ended up with. Thanks!
  6. Code and Theory did the Washington Football Team logos as well, so it makes since why the new 'W' is reminiscent of the last one
  7. I've been a lifelong fan of Washington's NFL franchise, a just like almost everything they do, yesterday was a complete disappointment. Although I would've preferred they stuck with the name Football Team, Commanders isn't the worst thing in the world. They got a few things right with the rebrand, I think the 'W' is a pretty solid logo and I'm a fan of the Commanders wordmark. Other than that, pretty much everything looks like garbage that belongs in college so here is my attempt at showing that they are a 90 year franchise and not some expansion team. First up, we have the logos and wordmarks. Like I said, I do like the 'W' as the primary so that stays unchanged. I like the Commanders part of the wordmark but not the font they used for Washington, so I decided to transfer over the version from the Washington Football Team as it has some style and fits in with the primary logo. I don't understand why they decided to make two different roundel logos as alternates, so I modified the one I like better for my alternate logo. The one they went with has too much white in it and its too busy with the addition of the championship years. How stupid of a design was that, are they gonna keep cramming more years on if they ever win more Superbowls? I also streamlined the inner part of this logo to get rid of some quirks. In the first quadrant, I put the DC flag to better represent the city instead of the 3 stars they went with that almost makes them look like they're from Tennessee. I left the primary mark in the top right quadrant but increased its size to fill up a bit more space. In the bottom half, I decided to put the '19' and '32' next to each other, that way its easier to read than the cross pattern they really went with. I also changed the numbers to a block font for a more traditional feel. Up next we have the primary helmet. I like the addition of the primary logo on the sides better than the numbers from the previous brand, and brought back the iconic gold facemask which really helps tie the uniforms together. I also went with the same striping pattern from the jerseys for consistency, and although I do like the satin helmets, I'd go back to the metallic finish because it always looked great on field. Up next are the uniforms. I can't believe they went with all modern garbage after talking about wanting to honor the past and traditions of the franchise. For the home uniforms, I did stick with a few things that they did right. I kept their new sleeve striping as it makes me think of the stripes in the DC flag. I also like the addition of the stars inside the collar and kept the Commanders wordmark on the front, although a shrunk it down to a normal size. I'm not a fan of eliminating TV numbers unless there is absolutley no room for them anywhere, so they get moved to the shoulders like a number of teams have done in the past. I also carried over the the traditional block font and color scheme for the number over from the previous set. I brought back the gold pants at home because its far super to the burgundy/white combo, and kept the striping consistent across all aspects of the uniform. For my aways uniforms, I went the classic route of them being an inverse of the home set instead of the recent trend of something that doesn't match at all. Another thing I carried over from the new set is the Washington wordmark on the away jerseys. I think thats a cool touch to represent the team name at home and the city on the road like a lot of MLB teams do and wouldn't mind if other NFL teams started doing this. White over burgundy will be the standard road look because its such a beautiful combo. I also paired home both the home and away jerseys with monochromatic looks to be worn a couple of times each season. I have been a fan of the white on white, especially after the Gibbs 2.0 playoff runs, but it should be used maybe two or three times per season because white/burgundy is still superior. All burgundy is an ok look and I'd break it out maybe once per year. Its obvious that Snyder has wanted to incorporate black into the team identity for some time, and there are some fans that really like it but what they went with is pretty bad. The camo patterns on the sleeves and collar will never be seen unless you're standing right next to the players, and that helmet is so bad. For my version, I wanted to make it look like it could still be from the same team so I went with a recolored set of the standard uniforms. I did like the addition of the DC flag on one sleeve and the alternate patch on the other, so I moved them up to the shoulders to make room for the traditonal sleeve stripes. I also like the wordmark on the left chest and stencil style numbers to tie into the military theme so I retained those. I may try and come up with a throwback look for another alternate but I'm pretty happy with this look so far.
  8. Those gold facemasks help this set out a little bit, but its still a dumpster fire
  9. I agree with you on a the majority of this, but for the secondary logo they should've gone with the roundel from the alternate jersey. Its a cleaner, streamlined version that is actually in team colors, plus its not as cluttered since it doesn't have the championship years on. The number fonts are the same across all three jerseys, its just that the aways didn't get the stencil lines for some reason to match the home and alternate. Also, the thickness of the away stripes seem the same as the home set, so atleast there is a little bit of consistency there albeit with a different color scheme. One thing I do kind of like with this set is the application of word marks on the jerseys. The Commanders name is too big on the home set but I like how they went with the contrasting Washington mark on the aways, it reminds me of MLB teams that use team name at home and city name on the road.
  10. I just read an article from the Washington Post and it says Tanya Snyder was heavily involved in the design of the uniforms, so I'll put as much if not more blame on her than on Nike. Here's to hoping that the Snyder's are finally forced out of the league after this court case and we end up with a competent owner who will go back to a classic re-design in five years. 2027 can't get here soon enough. Here is a link to that article https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2022/02/02/washington-commanders-name/?utm_campaign=wp_main&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter
  11. I've been a fan of this team a long time and they always find ways to disappoint me, so I don't know why I thought today would be any different. It's so bad that I almost want to question my Fandom of this dysfunctional franchise and pick a new team. Everything about these uniforms is a step back from the previous set and looks like it belongs in college or some crap league. Its really a shame that they had to go from looking like a 90 year old franchise with a classic, timeless uniforms to this hot mess of garbage, expansion team nonsense. The only thing I can hope for is that in 5 years we get a Bucs style rebrand to bring them back to normal and a top 5 look in the league again.
  12. Huge downgrade across the board. Here's to hoping that they wake up in 5 years and bring back the classic Football Team uniforms. Its a shame that they got rid of the unique two stripe sleeve pattern and ripped off the Chiefs sleeve stripes on the burgundy jerseys. And why can't teams just use a traditional block font right? That would help this set out a lot. What a way to celebrate 90 years of this franchise.
  13. Turns out the name has been out there since September It is what it is, but to wait two years for them to announce Commanders is a bit of a let down. I would've been much happier if they would made the Football Team name permanent. The only thing that needed changing was the helmet, slap a stripe on it and the 'W' on the sides and it would've been perfect!
  14. Looks to me that its about the same size as the Bengals word mark which I don't think looks bad
  15. I think that will be some ugly alternate and not the away jersey, I think the away will be an inverse of the burgundy jersey
  16. If the unis look something like that I guess I'd be ok with it, but the jerseys and pants seem like they'll still be a downgrade from the previous set
  17. Thanks for making this list! Most of the cars look like crap with the numbers being moved but a few look pretty decent. I wish the numbers were still in the middle of the door and that they used 5 lug wheels, but it is what it is so all I can do is hope that the racing is good
  18. I don't agree with you on the name Red Wolves, I don't understand all the hype and it seems like a pop warner team to me. I do agree about the uniforms though, it will be a travesty to lose them. Its one of the top looks in the league and is just as wrong as modernizing a team like the Packers, Bears, or Raiders. Hopefully they'll bring the current uniforms back in the five years when they'll be eligible to change this mistake, which conveniently is when they should have a new stadium.
  19. Well this looks like it is going to be terrible and such a let down. The burgundy jersey in the video looks like it would be a nice alternate or color rush to their current look but isn't as good as the current look. The only good news is they might be keeping the Washington Football Team name, but if thats the case they should've just stuck with the current classic uniforms and added the W and some stripes to the helmet
  20. What a terrible uniform set that is. Maybe one day they'll pair the white jerseys with silver pants and finally decide on one shade of blue.
  21. Those logos and name choices for Washington are terrible. If I had to pick one I guess it would be Wolves, but if they're going to change the name I'd want Hogs as it still ties into the history of the team. I don't know who is making the call as far as branding goes, but hopefully Snyder comes in and just leaves it as Washington Football Team.
  22. I dont have any experience with Nike jersey, but I would think this is the real deal. It seems like it is built with some quality unlike counterfits.
  23. I agree. I think I would rather see some rookie QB, let's say for the 49ers, look down on his chest and say, wow, I'm wearing Joe Montana's number. It doesn't disrespect what that player did, it honors what he did. JMO. I agree with you, hose numbers should be available to continue the greatness of them. I realize it is a different sport, but I believe Dale Earnhardt Jr said it best with this quote from scenedaily.com, ?I don?t look at the numbers tied to drivers as much as just the history of the number,? Earnhardt Jr. said Saturday at Homestead-Miami Speedway. ?The number is more of a bank that you just deposit history into."
  24. Any ideas on the "All Star Game" font?
