  1. I really like the new Seahawks set.

I'd tweak a couple of minor things, but I think over all it's really good.

I agree. The only thing I'd change is to make the helmet grey and to wear the grey pants more often. Other than that, it's a nice, modern look that isn't too over the top.
  2. Sharks aren't going anywhere; the Bay Area is way too valuable and too demographically picture-perfect (young, affluent, tech-savvy). I wouldn't be surprised if they wound up in the Warriors' new arena, though. The Shark Tank won't age gracefully.

That's pretty much what I thought when the Warriors announced their intentions to build a new arena, way back in 2012. We might even see a rebrand (no way that they keep the San Jose name if they permanently move to SF, unlike their temporary stay in the Cow Palace), which would be welcome in my book.

I'm attached to the Sharks' name and general logo/colour scheme. San Francisco Sharks works.
I'm fine too with the Sharks moving to San Francisco and keeping their identity intact. Though they should start working with the Warriors soon to get the arena to fit a hockey rink, so we don't have another Islanders-Barclays Center fiasco.
  3. I know South Africa is a coastal nation, but at the same time it's in Africa. It's hot there.

Um, Africa is a very large place with many different climates.

South Africa, due to a combination of ocean wind currents and elevation, is actually rather mild. Rare to spend much time above 90 degrees F.

But that's in the summer. The World Cup was held in June, which is the Southern Hemisphere's winter. So this was the average temperature in the various host cities:

Wasn't it winter during the actual tournament?
Did you not even read the post that you quoted?
  4. If it has to be held in the winter, then it'll have to be held at the end of 2022 because of the 2022 Winter Olympics in February. If they held it, say November 17 through December 17, 2022, it might work out. The European leagues would have to start their seasons more than a month earlier (say, mid-July) to compensate for the lengthy international break, but with no World Cup that summer the early start would be welcome by European football fans, I'd imagine.

Could work, but that would mean a shortened offseason, which I doubt players would be in favor of.
  5. Moving it to the US, surely. Media exposure, opportunity to boost the game in a still-developing market, infrastructure well in place. Who knows? If NYCFC builds their park big enough they could host a marquee game.

Or they could just have it at MetLife Stadium. I figure all of the games would be played in NFL or college stadiums.
  6. The Seahawks unis are gorgeous.

I don't think that's really an unpopular opinion. I like them too, but my beef with them is the color balance. If they wore the grey pants (with green feathers in the stripe) as the main option as well as switch to a grey helmet, they would look perfect.
  7. I've always heard that Buffalo was talked about for expansion back in the 80's and our AAA ballpark is supposed to be expandable, but just no. We might be able to fill a stadium maybe, but I don't think the corporate money is there in any fashion. I'd wager that we're one of the worst markets for big corporate headquarters. We're almost always the #3 US market for Stanley Cup Finals behind the two teams that are actually in it, and I think we do well in NFL Playoff ratings after the Bills pack it in. I don't think we even register on the baseball ratings and I rarely hear anyone talk baseball around here; if so, only the big, big stories.

The Atlantic Cities wrote a great story on the MLB and Buffalo last July.

As both Coca-Cola Park, along with the Colorado Springs stadium opened in 1988, they are now tied for being the fifth oldest park(s) in AAA baseball.

That's kinda scary; I didn't realize parks had sprung up like that for minor league teams. While looking at stadium ages, I discovered that Buffalo's is also the biggest stadium in AAA with a lead over the next ballpark of almost 20%. That was a really cool article for a Buffalonian like me who only knew whispers of that whole deal. It's a good place to watch a game. My only complaint is that the outfield looks out onto a tangled mess of highway, on- and off-ramps, and ugly property... if the stadium were rotated 180 degrees, it would look out right into the heart of the city.

    Looking towards the outfield:

And compare that to the view behind home plate:

I love Coca Cola Field too, but I agree the outfield view kinda sucks. Home plate facing the city would be 100x better.

  8. 1. I like Pinstripes on road uniforms and wish the Twins and Rockies would bring them back

I like the Twins' current road uni better because I was never really a fan if that script, but I really liked road pinstripes. However, I just don't see them making a comeback anytime soon.
Put the current road script on that jersey and you've got a winner.

  9. I don't get Indy in the South, though.

I always thought it would make more sense to put Baltimore in the AFC South and the Colts in the North. And as odd as it is to have the Cowboys in the NFC East, they have too much history there. They have been there with the Giants, Eagles, and Redskins (and Cardinals) since the merger. There will be an apocalypse before that changes.

  10. This one seems to be pretty unpopular lately: I love RevoSpeed helmets. They're so comfortable, and they just look good.

I agree. I wish my school would get them and my coach was talking to the principal about it. Though I'm graduating next year so I won't ever get to wear them. My brother will get to though, lucky bastard.
