Caitlin Clark's run in the Women's Tournament isn't going to end well, but she's on her way out anyways and headed to the Indiana Fever of the WNBA.

On the Men's Side, I have been watching Purdue closely and Zach Edey is super interesting to me because I want to see how he turns out in the NBA.

Not sure he will turn out in the NBA. He’s slow, not particularly athletic (relative to the NBA), and his entire game is within, like, five feet of the basket. He’ll get abused in the pick and roll. There’s not much place for someone like him in the modern NBA.

Everybody involved, even the bookie, have said Shohei had no involvement. Saying he's the victim of massive theft.

Well, Shohei’s own team initially said he wired the money.  I wonder if his team rushed to put that out to disconnect him from any actual gambling and then the lawyers got involved because they recognize how bad this guy writing $4m to an illegal bookie looks whether he gambled or not.

Oh, and the reason they say the story changed is because they were still using this guy to do the translating. I don’t know, this just seems like a super :censored:ty cover-up even if the guy didn’t do anything that wrong (well, wiring the money might be a felony, no?).

  3. This has the potential to turn into a pretty big story.  Ohtani’s team initially said he transferred the money to cover the the translator’s gambling debt. Now Ohtani had no knowledge of it.

Biggest star in baseball might’ve wired an illegal bookie millions.

  4. I think Minnesota should at least consider trading Jefferson but that isn’t fair value for him. Jefferson’s trade value is at least two firsts, I’d think. Giving up Jefferson and a first to move up ten spots?  Hard pass.

I like love this configuration/package for Atlanta. My only complaint is that I wouldn’t have it right after Daytona.

It’s been a fun race so far. The kind that I don’t feel like an idiot for watching every lap of.

    edit: what a race!

Race was an absolute snooze fest and Austin Hill winning was the NyQuil to end it all.

What’s the deal with Austin Hill?  Haven’t followed closely the last few years but a lot of people seem to dislike him winning.

  7. I like Harvick but Bowyer needs to go. I prefer the way NBC does it with a former driver and former crew chief. Just don’t really see the point of having two drivers.  But would really just prefer not having races on FOX at all.

I enjoyed the race and it’s still a must-watch for me every year but the 500 is losing its luster a bit and FOX is a big part of it.

A&M have proven time and time again they don't deserve anything. They're probably cranky they actually have to play Texas again, because it's another game they have a good chance to lose (sarcasm).

Nobody has proven they don’t deserve CFP consideration over a team with a comparable résumé like Notre Dame has.

Imagine being a football program so big and powerful that you don’t have to play in a conference and can pick your own schedule, and STILL choose to play both of the service academies 🤦‍♂️

Does Notre Dame still get any bull:censored: privileges with the CFP that they did with the BCS? I still can’t believe they gained an automatic BCS bid every time they won ten games.

There was 2020 (or 2021?) where they got curb-stomped in the ACC Championship game by Clemson and got in over a more deserving Texas A&M team.  So yeah, the bias towards ND was strong enough to somehow get two ACC teams in despite consistently being a weak conference.

  10. First off, yeah, lol @ Bradshaw. Second, It’s comparing a guy’s first seven years with other guys entire careers. It’s insane.  I mean, I guess people can use whatever criteria they want for GOAT conversations and Mahomes does need a bit more longevity, imo, but his resume through his first seven years is unmatched and, frankly, nobody is all that close. He’s well on his way.

CMC had 30 touches tonight and had a season-low 3.6 YPC. I'm not buying that as another Shanahan choke for his  resume

I'm surprised by that YPC.  Thought it was higher.  I guess the Chiefs defensive line was really hit or miss and the run plays were either a an easy five-or-so yards or stonewalled at the LOS; no in between.

With any other RB, I can see the argument, maybe.  But McCaffrey's role in the pass game makes him so dangerous, it's not like you're just not utilizing him on non-run plays.

Shanahan's only fault, imo, was taking the ball first in OT.  And even then, there's at least a case for it (D needing rest, plus if the Chiefs tie it, you get first crack at second possession).  Still didn't like it, though.

12 or so straight passes to start the second half with the best running back in the NFL was odd

It definitely wasn't 12 straight.  The first possession they got behind the chains after a penalty.  The second they ran a pass out to the flat to McCaffrey that was effectively a run.  And then the third possession, the first play was a CMC run that went nowhere.  So it was six plays without a run and one of them was effectively a run play.
