  1. I wish McLaren stuck with their 2019 look. Although 2020 and 2021 were nice too. Since then (above), they’ve been a mess.

Ultimately the margins are so razor thin that if these teams can cut the weight there and apply it more strategically, they will (clearly). Even Red Bull has a lot of bare carbon fiber, but the dark blue hides it better.  It just sucks. They really need to mandate paint covering certain parts of the body.

Also, not terribly surprising but I saw a video of Verstappen streaming his simulator racing where he said the Red Bull will look the same as it has.

  2. What awful names.  I wish they’d mandate paint on certain areas of the car (like everything but the floor and some smaller areas). The entire grid being half exposed carbon fiber liveries got old quick.

Also, unrelated to this specific topic, but I wish they’d knock it off with the street circuits.

Okay, who is Warren Sharp? And why should I care if gambling-addled paranoiacs believe everything is some grand conspiracy when the most likely answer is no one is at the wheel?

He’s some hack, dart-throwing gambler/engagement farmer on Twitter.  Kind of unrelated to the faux outrage he’s always peddling, but I remember LeBatard making fun of him for going 1-15 on his picks one week.

This is such a nothing story.   Warren Sharp is a joke.  Teams with a better record are 11-3 in games this guy officiated.  He's averaged a whopping .7 more penalties called on home teams in games he's officiated this season.  That's not swaying anything.   Shame on anyone that believes the NFL has an official they call in when they need the road team to win and shame on you for spreading Warren Sharp's nonsense.

I don't really get it though - even if he used all his time before kneeling, there still would have been 23 seconds, so the situation is the same regardless of when he kneeled (except there'd be less time left for TB if DET missed the FG.

And he could have used that TO at any time in the kneel-down process, not just 4th down.

It's stupid to end a 1-score game on defense with any TOs remaining, but I don't understand why the kneel at 36 seconds changes the situation at all, given that he had the TO the whole time, and even waiting till the last second to kneel is still the same situation.

What’s interesting is the Lions took over with 1:30 left or so, which is enough to run the clock down whether TB took their timeout or not. They snapped the ball in a way that TB could use their timeout and conceivably get the ball back but, obviously, TB didn’t.

I tend to agree with the idea there was a gentleman’s agreement of some sort to just get it over with.  Or the Lions botched the timing and Bowles is a good sport.

edit: this might’ve been covered. I don’t think I read back far enough.

double edit: I guess Campbell spoke about it already and said he messed up but also he could tell TB wasn’t going to call a timeout.

  6. I think it’s a great hire for Alabama. I’ve thought about DeBoer as a candidate for Florida in a hypothetical where Napier gets fired this season but would be nervous he doesn’t have any ties to the southeast. I think that’s way less of an issue with taking over Saban’s infrastructure.

Unfortunately, I think Washington might be in trouble going forward.

Let's see if Lane Kiffin tries to jump ship from Ole Miss.

I would be surprised if he’s a target. Top of the list would be Dan Lanning, I think.  Oregon has lost their coach so many times they’ll probably throw a ton of money at him to keep him, though.

Without CMC, or Debo that offense struggled. You also can’t say an offense would still be good without purdy when his backup is Sam darnold.

Cool, cool.  So which is it -- is Brock Purdy the most valuable player or can he not keep the 49ers offense rolling without McCaffrey and Deebo?  Is McCaffrey the MVP or would the offense suck with Sam Darnold?

My bold prediction for these playoffs is that the Ravens go one and done again.

Call me salty about that Christmas loss, call me a hater (I am absolutely both of those things), but I am not impressed by Lamar. He's not even close to the runaway MVP that he's been crowned as. Against the Niners, he got short field after short field as the Ravens defense ate Brock Purdy alive. The Niners actually outgained the Ravens in that game.  He admittedly had a great game against Miami, but Brock and CMC have been putting in historic performances all season long. Brock broke a passing yards record (he only played 16 games, it counts) for a team that once employed Joe Montana and Steve Young. This entire season has been the media lining up guys and saying, "THIS guy is better than Brock. He should win MVP". They did it with Dak. They did it with Hurts. They did it with Lamar, and it finally worked out.

If you really hate Brock Purdy that much and refuse to give the MVP to him, give it to CMC. But don't tell me Lamar should win it in a landslide. Because that's just disrespectful to Purdy and CMC.

Just you having Brock and CMC being interchangeable as far as which could/should win the award make it pretty clear that neither of them are the most valuable player.  You could make a pretty good case that the 49ers offense would still go without either player in part because of the other one.  That's not the case for Baltimore.  You can spin that BAL/SF game however you want but biggest matchup of the season and Lamar showed up, Brock did not.

Last offensive play of the year was a disaster but respect to the Colts.

They got about as far as a Gardner Minshew team could. If Richardson is anything close to what they’re hoping they could be scary.

I think Richardson can be very good, especially with a coach that can plan around his weaknesses like it looks like the Colts coach did with Hurts… but Richardson’s problem is he’s made of glass.  He got hurt dancing in his hotel room when he was at Florida, iirc.

    Milroe? More like Midroe

Total Yards would be passing and rushing.

    Brock Glenn - 130 yards

    Jalen Milroe - 179 yards

Milroe completed 70% of his passes, Glenn completed 35%.

And actually, if CFB didn’t stupidly count sacks against a QBs rush total, Milroe would have 228 total yards to Glenn’s 144.

  12. Washington is impressive.  They had that big win against Oregon before stumbling through some conference games (ASU and Stanford) and I thought it was a near certainty that Oregon would get them the next time around, which they obviously didn't.  I feel like either of these teams would struggle with Michigan but I'm actually not sure about Washington anymore.

I'm just relating what I saw on Reddit: a lot of posts from people saying that they'd rather root for their most bitter rival over Liberty.

If there was a 12 team playoff, there's a realistic chance I'd have had to make this decision in a playoff game (either FSU or Georgia vs Liberty).  My rooting interests would be 1. Meteor 2. Liberty.  Thank god the alliance voted against expanding the playoff this year and saved me from that.

It's crazy that the Big Ten gobbles up so many postseason spots in football and basketball despite so consistently failing in both.

  14. I mean, you say that but the play worked. Maybe Dallas should have recognized that the receiver was off the line and #68 was in an eligible position but they were still late to cover him. The official’s mistake would be halfway understandable if he said Sewell reported instead of the guy who didn’t actually talk to him.

And then there’s the fact that Campbell talked to the officials about this specific play and how they would run it if this situation came up before the game.

The Lions did everything right on this play. They shoulder zero blame here.
