  1. Friendly reminder that the Lions teased an announcement then told us they're switching from Pepsi to Coke in their stadium concession stands.
  2. We can make whatever we want on here. We don't have to answer to owners, stakeholders, marketing execs, focus groups, etc. Who knows how many times those people have gotten in the way of designs this board would love.
  3. I love this scheme so much and wish some team would take it on. I pitched a logo in these colors to the Maine Celtics when they were considering the name "Beacons" before they landed on "Red Claws". They liked it but it didn't work out. It's too good to not be used.
  4. I can see the Kings adding a tiny bit of red to their scheme, but going back to blue seems unlikely. It sounds like we'll be getting another majority black/white team though.
  5. Orioles next week: "Our city connect is inspired by historic Baltimore . We based our new wordmark off the old Inner Harbor Barnes & Noble signage, and the black jersey color comes from the bottom of the Lightship Chesapeake."
  6. As long as we're all sharing our Nuggets wishlists: I loved their statement uniform from a couple years ago, before it was changed to a Harlem Globe Trotters jersey. I'd simplify the color scheme a bit and remove the circular lettering setup then build a set around it. Add some topographic lines into the navy part on the shorts if it feels boring, or make them more mountain-like. Done.
  7. In less than 24 hours I've totally swung around on these, but only based on the mockups with white/red/white and red/white/red. Without those existing, the sets they released are still played out. When the non-monochrome is shown I actually really like the look.
  8. I'm genuinely interested in why people believe this. I don't necessarily disagree but I think it's not a cut and dry belief I hold anymore. Is it so fans wearing the jerseys and apparel out in the real world/in the stands all look like they are repping the same team? Or is it so photos of one game match photos of another game perfectly? The red jersey will not be worn next to the white jersey in any other setting than the uniform unveiling, so what's the importance of them matching exactly? As a brand/logo designer my thoughts have evolved on the subject because it used to be important to "see the logo the same in every application", but it's become more common practice to have application specific logos that all come together to form a cohesive visual of a brand. Why are sports uniforms any different?
  9. Ugh. Arizona is too big, they should never wear monochrome, blah blah blah, all the things y'all said. These aren't the worst thing ever made, just boring and played.
  10. From the maybe-possibly-probably not image of the pants behind the word jumble I am now expecting no dark cardinal color and no heavy use of orange. It's dumb, it's based on nothing, but who cares, this is the fun part where we are just envisioning the possibilities. I see a very similar red color still (if darker then it doesn't hit maroon), white shell with silver flecks and chrome facemask, 3D looking cardinal logo, pretty minimal red and white uniforms with some silver accents, deemphasis of black, and the flag somewhere on the 2 main uniforms. I suspect the orange color that has been mentioned time and time again is only used in the flag design and nowhere else in the uniform. This is all speculation and worth nothing to anyone, therefore I must post it.
  11. But is THIS a hint?? Brother-From-Michigan could be the name of the shade of orange!
  12. White helmet (maybe matte), 3D effect logo, white facemask?
  13. If they are one of the teams changing this year (or next year) I'd bet they're leaning toward more of the blackletter look from the statement jerseys, not less. Personally, I'd prefer that to the current Icon and Association wordmarks.
  14. Garth Brooks designed a Thunder uniform?? Where would one find this information?
  15. My bet is on Suns, Mavs, & Wizards to get new unis. Just feels like it's finally the year for all 3 of them.
  16. Speaking of gradients, and trying to make sense of the info we've heard; both the Suns and U of AZ have used striped or 8-bit gradients, is there a chance the Cards go this route? It would explain the inclusion of orange, and might even explain the use of maroon and warm gray as well.
  17. Blue with black outline would look good on both white and silver backgrounds, while the blue with silver outlines should just be used on black backgrounds.
  18. The Cards have been using this look on social for a little while, interesting here is the gradient from orange to maroon/cardinal on the left side and the orange drop shadow on the last name. The X and logo are still showing an athletic gold color but the drop shadow and top left are definitely orange.
  19. Seems at least possible that this Maroon and Orange business is on an alternate uniform only, right? Some have seen it, some haven't. It looks out of place with the white helmet and doesn't match the draft hats but seems legit? I'm betting on an alternate uniform going desert themed. Sand, orange, maroon, gray, more drab and dusty than the actual identity and uniforms.
  20. Kicking this off, Minnesota, Washington, New York, Indiana, and Dallas introduced their new Rebel edition uniforms today. 3.5 out of the 5 uniforms are black. I haven't read anywhere whether more teams will reveal later on or not, I DID read that Atlanta rejected their design because Nike didn't put enough thought into it. Wouldn't be the first time one of these designs was rejected (Dallas last year).
  21. Hadn't seen these posted here yet in their entirety, if they have been I'll delete. I hadn't seen the shorts yet at all. Plus, I figured the Nike explanations could prompt some discussion, as usual.
  22. Also see: Utah Jazz of 1996, All Star Game was in 1993.
  23. Since Ryan Smith's a tech guy and seems to be a trend chaser, and the Jazz have used every color in the world, could they pull off a black and white and blurry gradient look? (then what would they do in 2 years when thats way out of style?)
  24. I guess so, but I see the balance of purple and teal very different between throwback Jazz and current Hornets.
