  1. Moral of the thread: We are all entitled to own whatever we want and nobody has a right to set the amount you must pay them. Since it's wrong of them to deprive you of things you want, just steal anything you don't feel like paying for. Exactly. A jersey is a luxury item. You're not entitled to one. If you think the prices of the official product is to high don't buy it. If enough people don't buy official jerseys for this reason then the prices will drop. You're capable of effecting the market without supporting illegal activities such as ip theft.
  2. I don't think that's as unpopular as you think. I really liked the Jays angry bird, too. I think the issue that most people (myself included) was the color scheme, or at least how it was used - overwhelming black. I'm kind of glad it's gone, though. As much as I liked the old one, I like the new one better. I think the angry bird would look out of place on the current, "toned down" logo. You're probably right, but I wanted to call special attention to it as most people focus on the overwhelmingly negative parts of the old Jays identity. In the middle of all the crap, there was a nice logo in there that never got its due. The jay head was pretty nice. The chrome J he was attached to ruined it.
  3. Since you asked Like anything else, it's a design element that works for some teams, but not others. Disagree. I prefer white, with black working for the more traditional teams. I liked the idea of it, but the shade they used was off. I like it for a few teams, like the San Francisco Giants. It's gotten way to widespread though. The Senators and Blue Jackets' alternates would improve tenfold if they used regular white. Agreed, though for me it's a comfort thing. I tried wearing them when I played in high school, and I just didn't care for them. I prefer baggy pants. I disagree. I think the purple and green era marked the low point for the Bucks uniform-wise.
  4. I like powder blue, but I really dislike it as a helmet colour. I don't want to see the Chargers or the Panthers go with powder blue helmets, and I think the powder blue Oilers helmets are extremely overrated.
  5. Actually it was the Sabres who played the "we have lots of Canadian fans we can't afford to lose" card last time Balsilie was making noise about a team in Hamilton. I don't know of any Canadian fans who claim the Sabres as a "Canadian" team.
  6. The Markham idea is interesting. Sure, the Leafs would demand some astronomical amount of money for territorial rights, but they would already do that with another team anywhere in Southern Ontario. There's probably a limit of how much they can ask for, right? The part I wonder about is could a team in Markham get away without paying the Sabres anything? It's considerably further from Buffalo than Hamilton is. I would worry a little about another Southern Ontario team's impact on my Sabres, but it just makes so much sense to have another team somewhere around Toronto. There are 6 million people in the GTA and 12 million people in Southern Ontario; do the conversion of how much Americans care about hockey to how much Canadians care about hockey and you could seriously support three NHL teams in Toronto. What percentage of the league's teams are in financial trouble? The NHL needs to stick its franchises wherever they will be supported. Markham's not happening. MLSE made it very clear they weren't going to tolerate a team in Hamilton. They sure as hell won't allow one in Markham. It's not as simple as paying a territorial rights fee. The Leafs have one of the most hockey-mad markets all to themselves. Why would they give that up if they didn't have to? As for the Sabres, a team in Markham would hurt them as much as a team in Hamilton would. The Sabres draw in fans from southern Ontario that can't get Leafs tickets. Put a second team in southern Ontario and you suddenly have an option for those fans within driving distance that doesn't include a border crossing.
  7. The Devils are often ridiculed for their sub-par attendance, and the Islanders are often in the NHL relocation discussion (I'm still holding out for the Kansas City Islanders myself, just because I think the Utah/New Orleans/Charlotte NBA discussion deserves a sequel ).
  8. From the NHL uniform thread. I like the Bruins' black alternate sweater. It's a nice homage to older Bruins sweaters. Also, I'm not a fan of their gold Winter Classic sweaters. If the Bruins are going to have a gold alternate sweater I would prefer it to be a colour-swapped take on their home/road template. The old style spoked B is terrible and I just don't care for the Bruins in brown and gold. The opportunity for the Bruins to be a brown and gold team was missed a long time ago. They've been black and gold for so long that the brown just doesn't look right.
  9. My mistake then. Sorry about that. Internet and all
  10. At the very least try to sell out the side of the lower two bowls that the camera faces. Come on Gary, Eric Bischoff figured this out in 1999.
  11. Exactly. I have a hard time believing that an "authentic" is really worth the $300 price tag if it isn't even on the field. You can't tell me that a real player's jersey costs more. If so it would cost an astounding amount to dress a football team. If you don't feel the $300 price tag is worth it, then don't buy a jersey. It's that simple. You're not entitled to jerseys at a lower cost. They're luxury items. If you can't afford them or don't want to pay the price they go for then you don't get them.
  12. If the Leafs threw a fit over Hamilton there's no way they ok a team in Markham.
  13. I loved the Blue Jays look with black, blue, and gray. Uniqueness no longer gets you anything apparently. Stellar contribution with the picture. Really added to this thread. Some of us, myself included, appreciate when a team does something unique and not a carbon copy of the past or of other teams. First off, what Goth said. A unique set that looks terrible isn't suddenly good just because it's unique. Secondly the Jays didn't "carbon copy" the past. They took the classic look and updated it. As for the graphite cap? Sorry loooooogodude. Unique or not, it doesn't fit in with the current set. Different colours and logos.

  15. Welcome back ;)

  16. I hope you get drenched in the semen of 14 elephants, 6 horses, and maybe a woodchuck. Charming as always.
  17. I always prefer coloured alternate baseball jerseys that use the city/location name to the ones that use the team name. In my opinion these.... ...look better then these....
  18. I hate the Orioles' cartoon bird in all of its forms. Go Leafs go! Go Raps go!
  19. Those Detroit fans sure looked like they were having fun.
  20. Heck, if the Hornets move to Montreal they can keep their sweet fleur-de-lis logo.
  21. I always thought Montreal could work as a NBA market. Make it two!
  22. I like to think they're counting people Gary Bettman imagines were there.
  23. Well it can't be that bad if they aren't buying a parking lot from themselves.
