Dude, there's still a week and a half before even the preseason starts. This thread is about week-by-week matchups, these predictions are merely speculation regarding that topic. We'll have our fun now, and then talk about what teams actually wear when they wear it.

I'll add that this is no different than people in the NFL Changes thread speculating what throwbacks and alternate helmets might look like.

So why exactly are the Titans dropping the normal Columbia Blue jersey? Are they afraid a completely different style jersey with no trace of red would look too similar to the throwback?

Also, this is Year 6 of the current set with no signs of changing.

Not to mention the navy numbers and navy helmet/pants. This franchise isn’t the most intelligent when it comes to uniform-related decisions.

Let’s hope with how popular the throwbacks are that they go back to light blue as the primary color if/when they finally rebrand.

I once was a big defender of the set, but ever since I moved to Denver it just feels so tired. The team's performance of late hasn't helped, but seeing those jerseys and that logo all over the place have really attuned me to their flaws. The orange shade is too faded, the jersey design clearly doesn't work with an orange base (and the white uniform has always felt dull), and the logo's aesthetic has been copied to the point of overexposure.

It was a revolutionary uniform for the time and incredibly important to the team's history. However, it's long-past time to move on to something new.

The white helmet doesn't really work with the all-orange set, but at least it gets the team a little bit further away from a navy base.

It’s not the NFL’s fault. These teams know the rules and are choosing to add random alternate helmets anyway. The Broncos could’ve scrapped their orange Color Rush for a white one and chose not to. This helmet wouldn’t even match their regular road uniform.

So the new trend is wearing helmets that don’t match anything else at all in the uniform?

First the Lions in Honolulu blue helmets and all grey uniforms and now Denver in white helmets and all orange.

    Yuck.

You forgot the Colts and their super on-brand black helmets.

It’s funny how a few days of teams bringing back throwbacks has everyone fooled that uniform aesthetics are improving, yet we still have several teams doing stuff like this, which pretty much cancels out any “progress”.

  5. Disappointed we're not gonna get this color matchup from 2017. Would've looked cool with the current Jets green uniforms and Mahomes and Rodgers. Instead it will be the fourth time out of the last five meetings that the Jets will be in white.

I actually thought this would be a black jersey game for the Jets, which would've been fine if the Chiefs wore red pants. But now NY will probably wear it against the Falcons or Texans instead and there will be no bright colors at all, which usually happens when they wear it.

  6. Like the Browns, this is a nice look aesthetically, but I can't stand white at home against teams that haven't visited the building in 6-8 years. At least this means only one black jersey game?

It will be amusing when the black-jerseys-are-fire crowd finds out that this only leaves one opportunity for those to be worn. Then they will complain about the three game limit that they didn't know about until now.

  7. This look reminds me of what the Lions did. A helmet that looks so out of place and doesn't match the rest of the uniform. The socks or pants matching the helmets would help.

It's just so sad the NFL is allowing this to happen to its brand. A handful of solid throwbacks that will be worn for one game each (Bucs, Vikings, etc.) doesn't mean that football uniforms are trending in the right direction again overall. And who knows what kind of mess the Broncos have put together for next week.

  8. Colts take the cake for the absolute most pointless, because-we-can, because we want to make a social media unveil video, uniforms released by any team ever.

    Are these horrible? No.

Are they better than if they did an all-black uniform? Absolutely.

Do they make any amount of sense or are the slightest bit necessary to enhance their wardrobe? Absolutely not.

100% agree with this take here. Their current set is unique and has subtle design elements that tailor it to their brand. The throwback set is great, but it's just stripes.

Their current uniform does a great job of blending classic uniform elements with unique flourishes that make it more than just something out of a catalog.

This is my problem with most throwbacks and why I think they work better as throwbacks, but 9/10 people will see a 70s uniform with a gray facemask and outdated logo and be like “Bro these are fire. This should be the permanent uniform. The NFL is soft for only letting them wear it three times!”

Except that game 2 years ago was when ARZ was in the uniform that they are leaving behind. I don't mind because the Cardinals have new uniform sets. But yeah, I am disappointed about the SF game. I wish it was like the 2007 game. You wanna know something? I don't know if you're aware. A lot of teams have worn their alternate or throwbacks against the 49ers. If you count what teams have an opponent wearing their third or fourth jersey against them, the 49ers are the most of all teams. After them it would be the Giants.

Good thing it's a 17 game season now. There's a chance to recover that lost opportunity. Maybe when the 49ers and Browns meet again by drawing each other?

Nice to see someone who has the same mindset about these things Yeah, hopefully they finish in the same place in 2024 and the Niners visit again, but the odds of that happening aren’t great.

This actually happened with the Bears and Browns though. Cleveland wore white throwback against them at home in 2021 and is now hosting them again in a non throwback game two years later.

Might be a scorching take but this throwback set is a just a tiny bit overrated. Still very much worthy of bringing back and a damn good uniform, but I honestly prefer the Vikings' current set to these by a good amount. The yellow and white on the stripes get muddied together at a distance due to lack of contrast and the gray facemask, though historically accurate, doesn't match the rest of the set at all. Feels weird to me having  a dull gray element on an otherwise bright and cheery uniform. Easily the next best set the Vikings have had, just wouldn't be my cup of tea if it returned as a full-time set.

Again, still a great uniform, love it as an alternate, I just wouldn't want to see this era's set return full time. The Vikings current set - so long as monochrome is avoided - is a modern classic and among the NFL's best uniforms.

I completely agree. Their current look is cool and has some unique modern elements. The throwback works perfectly as what it is.

It sadly could be that they are wearing these once and then wearing the dumb all-purple color rush twice.

I was thinking one game would be reserved for that, but I don't believe they've ever worn them multiple times in a season.

  13. The Vikings said they are "debuting" their throwbacks on opening weekend, meaning they are probably wearing them again, but I saw in the article it said they can wear them once per season, which is simply incorrect. They can wear them three times.

  14. The Browns are wearing all-white for the ONE game on their schedule I specifically wanted to see them wear brown for: Week 6 vs. the 49ers. Why must this always happen with  inter conference matchups I'm excited for?

This is what we got in 2015:

And this is what I was fully expecting and hoping for this year:

They're wearing the white helmet three times, which means at least we won't see the pointless Color Rush all-brown look anymore. I guess that's why they felt the need to shove it down our throats last season.

Texans will wear the red helmets for three home games, including Battle Red Out on Nov 26

    Source: https://www.houstontexans.com/news/houston-texans-announce-2023-home-game-themes

"The team will wear their Battle Red Helmet, which debuted in 2022, during three home games this season, the maximum number of times allowed per the NFL."

This is interesting and potentially could mean that they will pair them with the navy Color Rush set for one game. I’ve always wondered why the team doesn’t wear red more than one game. I have a feeling it might be the Watt Pittsburgh game in addition to the Thanksgiving weekend Jags game, or maybe the Christmas Eve game against Cleveland.
