  1. I spent a boat-load on raffle tickets for the Saints ring and got nowhere. It's become like mega-millions, you might have a better chance of getting hit by lightning. Class act by the Red Sox and glad the money is going to a great cause!
  2. Robert Edward Auctions has a 1955 and 1956 Brooklyn Dodger rings in their auction that ends this weekend. the 56 is when they lost to the Yankees and belonged to HOF player Duke Snider.
  3. NBA Shares Photos of How Every Playoff Team's Championship Rings Would Look The official NBA Twitter account sent out pictures of what a championship ring from all 16 teams would look like, and they all look pretty sweet. You can see links to all of the rings here: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2035191-nba-shares-photos-of-how-every-playoff-teams-championship-rings-would-look
  4. Survival79 thanks for the explanation. When Rex Ryan came to the Jets (no Rex jokes please) he wanted to send a message to his players so he wore (and continues to do so sometimes) his Super Bowl XXXV Ravens ring that he received by being a defensive coach on that team. I believe other coaches do this too, to motivate and remind the players what reward awaits them if they win a championship.
  5. Slightly Off Topic - But What the Heck. Saw Draft Day over the weekend. This movie is fantastic! There was more "story" in it than I thought there would be, and the story-line really engulfed me. I'm not giving away anything from the movie so I promise I won't spoil it for anyone who wants to see it. Two comments about super bowl rings from the movie. 1) The fictitious Browns coach who was the former super bowl winning coach of the Cowboys proudly wore his Cowboys super bowl ring throughout the movie. Although there was no close up, it looked very similar (from afar) of the Cowboys Super Bowl XXX ring. 2) Great quote from the movie - I'm paraphrasing as I could not find the quote on the internet: "If football is the ultimate men's game then why do they give the champions jewelry?"
  6. And that, in a word, was awesome. Truly a classy thing to do. But you have to admit, this is a newer trend. Really not common in years past, no? The Canadian Football League rings started this trend. The 1991 Toronto Argonauts had.... "Home" on the inside of their rings.... 2006 - BC Lions - "Reason and Purpose" 2007 - Saskatchewan Roughriders - "Believe" 2008 - "We Got Them Right Where We Want 'EM" 2011 - BC Lions = "Make History" I'm sure there were other rings from the CFL too. ---------------------------------------------------- In the NFL it looks like this trend caught on, starting in 2009.... Saints 2009 had "Special/Smell Greatness" and their scores from the games. Packers 2010 had "1 Mind/Goal/Purpose/Heart" and the scores from their games too. Giants 2011 had "All In" and "Finish" Ravens 2012 ring had the scores and teams the ravens beat none of these were memorials, just sayings i believe the poster was taking about inside engravings - not memorials.

  8. Nice touch - very classy tribute to Stan Musial! I remember the Patriots put Mr. Kraft's wife's initials on their last AFC championship ring when she passed. Can anyone remember any other tributes to those that passed away and were remembered on a championship ring? I can't recall any other examples.
  9. Hi Karl, thanks for the comment, you made me LOL! Sorry, been a little busy at work and the I love the Pro rings more than the college stuff. Thanks everyone for posting some amazing pictures of great rings, and for pointing out some erros on the Red Sox Jostens rings! Hopefully we will hear a date soon on the Seahawks rings!
  10. no such thing as an "MVP Ring". Unless this is something new. I think it's a great idea to award an MVP ring. what do you guys think about this?
  11. Hi Jay, Welcome aboard! This is a great site, full of ring people here! Should be a busy few days, that new Red Sox ring should make its debut soon! (although I'm a Yankees fan), I admire how great the 2004 and 2007 Red Sox rings are.
  12. Great photo! The Bengels ring may be bigger, but the three marquee diamonds in the 49ers ring were gorgeous and made the winning ring so much nicer and of more value than the runner up ring. I bet you are 100% right - the 49ers were probably not pleased with the size of the XXIII ring. Perhaps, that's why when they won the super bowl again, the following year, their XXIV ring was substantially larger than the (shown above) super bowl XXIII ring.
  13. Very nice quality hand-out. anyone wanting this ring will be able to find a bunch on ebay the day after the promotion.
  14. Here's another similarity: very few championship rings use this type of styling, yet the Bengals copied the Steelers super bowl IX and X design on the shanks... and the shanks on the later Bengals ring has that heavy, bold look, similarly seen on the Steelers super bowl XXX ring. Great job "King of Rings", I didn't notice the sides were so similar on these rings!
  15. Wow, great answer! I forgot that. The NFL was presenting championsip rings back in the 50's so I wonder why the Packers choose watches? I believe the NFL was pooling their money back then so It can't be that Green Bay was a small market. Any thoughts why this occured?
  16. Neither team won a World Championship, however, the 1968 Colts, who lost to the Jets, were so upset that they lost, they did not want a ring that would have said "NFL Champions" (because the leagues had not officially merged yet) so they went with a watch instead. I just purchased an amazing player watch and presentation box and will post pictures and a story soon. When the Steelers lost to the Packers in superbowl 45, they team captains voted to receive diamond watches (non gold). This was because their superbowl 43 ring was so large, the nfl mandated "AFC Champions" ring would be too small. You can see pictures of these items on my site, or backtrack here a few pages. By the way, the Yankees first championship, was 1923. I believe it was the only year they won and did not receive rings. They received solid gold pocket watches. Babe Ruth's just sold at auction for 717,000. After 1923, all Yankee championships were celebrated with a championship ring.
  17. Welcome Karlsgems! I'm pretty new here too. This is a great site, I'm so glad I found other ring collectors and ring admirers. I believe the picture needs to be somewhere already on the internet (not stored on your computer) and when you are posting click on the little image button (2 spots to the right of the link button). clicking on the button will allow you to put the url where the image is. Keep posting!
  18. Linda, do you or your co-workers ever lay awake at night, worried that someday the feds, or the NFL, or NHL or Jostens will shut you down, or worse, sue or arrest you?
  19. Championship Sports Rings - Thanks for the heads up! That National Championship Ring Rocks! What do you guys think of it?
  20. Hi King of Rings, welcome! This is a great place to hand out with other collectors and ring enthusiasts.
  21. Front office people sell rings for the same reasons you and I sell a car, or a house or a boat. Sometimes the money that can be realized can help fund other purchases, or help with retirement, or kids or gandchildren's college funds. Many pass their rings down to family members but sometimes family members don't want the rings, or, the money could be used for retirement or so many other things. If you're old enough like me to remember championship sporting events from the 70's and 80's, those players are now 50-60 years old. Well the coaches and front office people are now 70 - 80 years old or older. Few of them made millions. Front office rings, espeically when the same size and design of player rings are a great way to build a collection while not paying insane prices that some player rings get.
  22. Looks like a different logo on each ring? Did they change their logo?
  23. I agree, best college ring ever! Here's a picture of the ring and the original presentation box.
  24. Here's a story about a stolen colts ring..... I thought for sure it must the the one on ebay but it looks like the stolen ring was a player's ring and the one offered on ebay says it's a front office ring. Hummm, I wonder..... Here's the link to the story.... http://www.theindychannel.com/sports/colts/reward-offered-for-stolen-colts-afc-champ-ring
