Likely no.  They'd have to work out a whole permanent identity, including logos, uniforms, and a full brand strategy, and given that Fanatics can't even get MLB uniforms to the teams in time (and those are pre-existing designs), there's zero chance they'd be able to get stuff to NHL teams (or get merch in stores - I forget if they actually make the NHL uniforms).  MLB is top of their food chain.  NHL... probably close to the bottom.

Just like nike doesnt actually make the MLB uniforms(made at the old majestic plant that fanatics bought), Fanatics doesnt make NHL uniforms(made at the SP plant. Which, incidently, made the jerseys since at least the reebok days).

This move happening during a switchover from adidas to fanatics branding might actually help them, as new jerseys already were going to have to be made.

Are there any recent examples in other pro sports leagues of teams having uniforms literally not available before the season?

The NHL always took preventive measures to ensure that they did.

During the EDGE and adidas switchover, teams were not allowed to have alternate jerseys to handle production. Home+away for 30 and then 31 teams is a lot easier when you're not worried about alts.

aren't they the ones wearing it? you wouldn't want to be told what to wear.

in a job where i'm expected to wear a uniform? I'd be 100% okay being told what to wear.

I'm a soccer ref. I wear the Offical Sports uniform as expected by USSF the way i'm told to wear it. Food service jobs I've worked? Same deal, you wear the uniform. Lifeguarding? again, same deal. ZERO issues with it. It's a sport, you play a uniform.

People are (rightfully so) :censored:ing on fanatics..... but aren't Nike the ones that produce the jerseys,? In the same factory in Easton, PA where Majestic made them?

Or is that over with now 😞

    Fanatics owns that factory.

    The real real answer:

    Franklin.jpg

With this as the theme song.

The Union and their fans have leaned heavily into the Franklin imagery. All Philly teams should follow suit.

I join you in that bias. I would assert that Philadelphia City Hall is the most beautiful building in the world.

The building is so grandiose that it cannot adequately be captured in pictures. You really have to go there and just marvel at its splendour. From all angles — including from within, in the passages to the internal courtyard — it is breathtaking. I've never been so awed by any other work of art.

Still, the primary symbol of that city is Franklin.

One of my favourite parts of the 76ers package is the ballin ben logo

    3588_philadelphia_76ers-secondary-2015.p

    (from the mothership)

Goofy, yes. Buf it's just perfect for the city and team.

Not exactly. Someone from the visiting team's fan base will be like "Hey, let's go to Vegas for vacation this year. This particular week. The Tigers are in town." You're not getting that much with any other city except maybe New Orleans.

I'm planning an Austin trip around TFC/DCU so yup, this.

Really? You want the Lions to lose because of pants? The team is on one of the greatest runs in sports history and you want to see it come to an end because of pants?! I know what site we are on and complaints are valid but at the end of the day we're all here because we love sports. Who cares what they wear right now because this season is crazy. I want to see the Lions get to the Super Bowl and win.

It's not my team, so yes. I 100% want the best dressed team to win, unless it's a team I hate.

Hi, all. I've noticed that jerseys sold for retail, have gone towards using gluing the name and numbers on back - but why the change from sewing it on? I know how it can be a big mess to deal with in removing them, and how it is impossible to do so in most cases.

It's how they come from the factories, and factories do the cheap method AND what's fastest.

You can go to a variety of places online that do hand sewing and do it well and are licensed.

Not really uniform related, but why does it seems like TV networks now love using white as the background color of their team

Graphics for scorebugs? For example, CBS has the Steelers score box shaded white for this Bills game? Is there not enough contrast between blue, red, and white and black and yellow? CBS always used to use yellow or black as the background color. It makes sense when the two teams colors are similar, but not the case in this matchup.

I guess it just sort of bugs me. Anyone else notice this?

I love it. Steelers wearing white so their box has a white background. Bills in blue so blue box

  10. Bills, more than anything else, need blue jerseys, white pants, red socks at home and white shirts, blue/white pants, and red socks on the road.

Whatever helmet does this the best should be the one they use. I'm leaning towards white, but the socks (as @Jer15 knows very well) matters most.

I don't think centering the badge is just about more ads on the shirts. Liga MX uses up pretty much every inch of space they can without centering badges. I'd expect them to clog up the sleeves and below the numbers before they add secondary logos on the front.

And unless someone threw Saudi insane levels of money, no team in Europe or the Americas is going without shirt sponsors ever again. I'm actually surprised FIFA hasn't done that with national team shirts yet. Chelsea only went without for part of this year because no one was willing to pay what they wanted, until Infinite Athlete did.

And even Ireland has sold national team jerseys with sponsors on them at retail. Still do on womens jerseys with sky.

I am always in favour of independent leagues. So my first reaction was: good for this team for starting up.

But a home run derby to decide games is absolutely embarrassing. Indeed, I thought that the post mentioning that was a joke mocking the league.  To know that this is really the rule is nothing short of shocking. How any baseball fan could approve of this is far, far beyond my understanding.

I'm not fundamentally against alterations of the rules, even radical ones. But this is bad. If they wanted to take something good from soccer, then they should have borrowed the acknowledgement that a draw is a legitimate result. A regular-season game tied after nine innings should go into the books as a draw; save the extra innings for playoff games that have to have a winner.

This is a case where the flaw is so big that it overshadows everything else. Very disappointing.

I like the balance that NPB in Japan has. Maxed out at 12 innings in the regular season and then it becomes a draw. Majority of games are decided by then, and if not doesn't matter.

@canzman Hey-lo there, sir. Any chance you can possibly make a correction to the Week 12 Ravens uniform image? After all, they did wear white socks as a team for the first time ever with the white jersey/purple pants look.

The reason I ask is because I like to save the different combos (by season) that you create to a special file folder. I don't post them anywhere — well may have once or twice in the past (including properly crediting you as creator) — but rather just keep them for my own personal viewing purposes & for the sake of memories. However, if I ever did for some reason, then you would of course be rightfully credited for your stellar work.

Obviously, this year is more important than most previous ones in the past, due to the long overdue Ravens template change from Nike 'Speed Machine' to 'F.U.S.E.', so it'd be nice to have each various combination that was actually worn throughout 2023-2024.

Plus, your stuff is way better than, say, GUD's depictions, for instance, what with the attention to minor/minute/minuscule details! If not, it is no biggie. Perhaps I can try as a novice to fill in via MS Paint (LOL). On the other hand, if you were to make the modification, then I thank you in advance, plus just generally speaking I genuinely do greatly appreciate with utmost gratitude all of your perennial efforts!

He fixes them a couple days after the game.

And shaky enough to lose to ZACH WILSON and barely beat Washington 2x

At the end of the day, you're judged on wins.

The steelers are an awful team, but they're in the playoffs and the Bills arent. The Eagles are 10-1. Barely win or blowout, it all counts as one win. A fluke loss doesnt magically wipe away ten wins.

This is dumb -- there's a reason that every single league in the world makes players wear their actual last names.

That's actually not true, at least not across all sports.

Soccer at the very least has some first names and some other names. Ie, Javier Hernandez wears Chicharito on his jersey.

They're definitely up there. Especially on the road. On a white, black, and gold uniform, you have a red and blue logo on the chest and a huge green logo on the helmet. Now, on the home uni, the chest ad is on par with a lot of teams out there with clashing chest ads. And the helmet ad matches in color and even has a penguin in it, but having the words "BOLD Penguin" feels corny as hell, even if it is an actual company (based in a division rival's city). Even then, I could at least attempt to tolerate it, if they didn't make both helmet ads MASSIVE.

I love this team, but everything about them off the ice has felt so stale, bland, and corporate-focus-group for years. Boring social media, lame in-game presentation, a sickening abundance of advertising and sponsorship activations everywhere you look in the arena - and this goes back years before COVID. I mean, know it's happening everywhere to some degree, but as soon as the NHL announced uni ads I knew the Pens would be one of the first to jump on and make a mess of it like they have. And yet, across town, the team owned by notorious cheapskate Bob Nutting has resisted uni ads for an entire season.

I've been holding that rant in for a long time.

All of this. Not to mention the boring bland scorebug.

FSG buying this team has been horrible, and I hate it, but like you said it goes way beyond and before them.
