Full disclosure- the original name was going to be the London Knights, but I found out there's a sports team in London already using the name, so changed it to respect that.

There was a hockey team with that name here, but they folded 20 years ago. (And today I learned there are a couple of other teams from different sports using that name)

As a Brit living a stone's throw away from London, I don't think I've seen any team play up the Guards imagery before. In my head they kind of just get lumped in with tourist tat stuff, but still it's an interesting idea for an identity.  I appreciate what you went for with the main logo but there's a lot going on and a badge like this makes me think more of the other football. The crown works well and I like how you incorporated that into the helmet, although the Guard logo probably makes the most sense as a literal depiction of the name. I agree with The Impaler that the Guards is the better name choice.

The London Lancers I really like and that main logo is spot on. If given a choice between the two teams then I'd probably pick them (even though red's my favourite colour!)  White numbers would probably stand out better on the home and rush jerseys.

Also, while I'm here; the Chicago Blues concept is fantastic.

Speaking of the Ducks, I love that we are getting a plum purple jersey from them but I don’t understand why they didn’t just give us a straight throwback.

I can think of one reason: they're already selling it.

The Ducks have started selling an Adidas Team Classics version of the original eggplant jersey. Maybe it's an early hint at another Throwback Night like they did in 2013, but it could also mean nothing in particular.

The triangle might be a nod to the Platinum Triangle of Anaheim, the Ducks were the first professional team to use the name of the city and that might be why it was silver on the road jersey.

I thought that might be the case, but it turns out Anaheim came up with the Platinum Triangle well after the Ducks were formed, I believe around the early 2000's (someone from the area would probably know better - Google can only get me so far)

With Anaheim unveiling this new jersey, does this mean the orange jersey is retired?

Yup, but it's not the first time. It briefly got shelved with the switch to Adizero, then they introduced the 25th Anniversary third, and then they brought the orange third back into rotation. Hopefully it returns again in 2024.

  5. I'm conflicted. I'm happy that the classic colours are back and I dig the more traditional take on the original striping design. Bringing back the old shoulder patch of all things as the crest is certainly a choice, almost giving the impression of a Winter Classic-esque jersey circa 2009-ish, or something like the Panthers or Blue Jackets jumping onto the trend around that time. That said it's my main point of contention; if it was just the original Mighty Ducks crest this would have been perfect. As is, it's kind of just okay I guess. And yet it's still better than the home and roads.

We already got a straight up throwback for the 20th Anniversary, a throwback-inspired look for the 25th, and even the orange thirds and last year's Reverse Retro with that original logo on it, so I can appreciate that maybe they wanted to try something different this time. But this is more than likely replacing the orange third jersey at least for this year, meaning that particular logo isn't even going to be on the front of a jersey for the 30th Anniversary, never mind that the thirds being retired yet again - even if it's temporary - further kills any hopes I had for an overhaul.

As a faraway fan I've yet to attend a game in Anaheim and never got to see the original eggplant and jade look in person. Ironically I was in Ottawa while the Ducks were playing the Sens for that one Throwback Night in 2013. I'd meant to plan a trip in 2018-19 but regrettably never got around to it. Depending on their plans for the 30th I was thinking of finally taking the plunge for my once in a lifetime chance to see them in something reminiscent of the original uniforms - and now I'm not sure if I want to 😅

  6. I like that the numbers don't overlap the sleeve stripes anymore. Still don't like the nameplates but at this point they've made it their gimmick so whatever.

The Ducks just posted this, giving us a look at their 30th Anniversary patch on the home jersey and pretty much confirming no major changes this year, unless there's some sort of throwback or other anniversary jersey planned. Oh and there's an ad now too. Yay.

  7. One time I was walking through a supermarket car park and happened to spot a Ducks 20th Anniversary sticker in someone's window. It's rare that I run into a fellow fan on this side of the pond, much less walk past their car.

Of course I've also seen countless people wearing a Yankees cap or some other apparel with that NY mark, a good majority of them probably not knowing or caring that they're an actual baseball team.

  8. Unpopular opinion: I like the current Pepsi brand. I don't prefer the 'smile' over the wave but I like the brighter blue and the overall clean look of it all.

New logo is alright, but the black text and outline around is a bit much. It fits better on the Zero can than it does on the regular - and that was a deliberate choice:

    Quote

“We think that the non-sugar segment of colas will continue to grow very fast in this country. We’re seeing consumers pivoting,” Laguarta said, noting that zero had already been a “strategic” product in Europe and elsewhere.

To that end, “zero sugar is going to be the protagonist of our communication strategy,” Porcini told CNN.

To highlight the zero line, the new logo uses black font and a black border, a nod to Pepsi Zero’s black can and label.

That design process can be an intense and lengthy one, which is why the NHL will ask teams to put a hold on uniform overhauls for the time being.

  10. I'm British and the "T" falling off is how I learn we have a national baseball team. That may be ignorance on my part but probably shows how well the sport is covered here.

I don't follow baseball too closely but thanks to my time on these boards I at least have an understanding of the aesthetics and what makes a uniform work - the only part I don't get is why road uniforms are usually grey, but I guess that's one of baseball's traditions. With that said; Great Britain has one of the most half-arsed uniforms I've ever seen, and it's also exactly what I'd expect from them.

This shows another problem with the Coyotes' identity though. What's their main colour? The Rangers are a blue team. The Kings are a black team. The Coyotes are....????

    Always in the red 😛

In a way I prefer this colour for the Coyotes and I can appreciate the use of a Kachina design like their primary set, but its use here isn't well thought out. The wordmark looks like it was made for something else and the slightly jagged (rocky?) design isn't helping. The cactus 'A' patch is cute I guess.

Part 1: I just hope the current home and away are mothballed. I will gladly take a return to the Mighty Ducks logo because I think a complete eggplant and jade return is off the table now. Maybe they see what Buffalo did and have a throwback alternate.

Yeah they're never going back to the old colours, but all of this would be the next best thing.

What was his hit rate on the RRs? Who are his sources?

He apparently got "conflicting reports" about what the Ducks were doing with their RR. To be fair I could see why any given source (especially one who doesn't pay as much attention to this stuff or got a quick glance at best) would see a white and orange Mighty Ducks jersey and go "that sure is a white version of their third".

I would not be surprised if the Ducks just split the difference and do the old jerseys in the current colors, like what they just did for their second Reverse Retro.

Unless they surprise us with something new altogether I still think the current third with a matching white version is a safe bet. Maybe the white uniform takes cues from the Reverse Retro and goes all in with the orange pants. The Samuelis love them some orange so it seems like the next logical step.

  13. As much as the Wild have basically repeated their last Reverse Retro, it's a nice look for them and the colour scheme compliments the logo well. I wouldn't want it to become their full time look - not that I would oppose it, either - but they should at least keep it around as a once-every-so-often heritage jersey or something. They're never getting the North Stars name but the occasional throwback to that era is the next best thing. Speaking of repeats I'm getting a sense of deja vu as I type this.

Also it's funny seeing them dress up as their predecessors against the Jets 2.0
