On top of the issue of common fans having no taste, they just had to split the vote between their two teal over black combos, which I consider 1a and 1b in my book. Im sure there are a lot of fans like me who wish to see teal over black who also aren’t going to quibble too much over which socks they use with it. But when I voted, the poll sat at 42% for all-teal and 22% apiece for TBB and TBT. That’s 44% of fans who would at least like to see black pants regardless of the socks, yet they’re just gonna get eaten alive by the color rush since there’s no consensus on which sock is better. Good grief.

a common theme in the comments is "lets do a teal out!"

Note: the stands can do a color-out even if the team doesnt dress head to toe in that color... Penn State Firmly in College Football Playoff Mix with Marquee Win vs. Michigan | News, Scores, Highlights, Stats, and Rumors | Bleacher Report

  2. Texans have maybe the most under-appreciated brand in all of american sports.

Logo is simple, applicable in many places, yet is a spot-on representation of the nickname they chose.

The font for the wordmarks and uniforms is not gimmicky, fairly simple, yet customized and representative.

Jerseys are modern. they are simple but have a unique element in the single shoulder stripe. Fits a modern template.

Colors are good, hard to get RWB wrong. But they aren't the premier RWB team in the NFL, there's another patriotic flag team that owns that type of feel (and they happen to have had a massive run in the spotlight)

The division they play in is a downside to the brand. Jags are Teal & black and never clash well enough (except for this weekend they will), colts are so white-heavy but still are blue, and the Titans are obsessive over Navy.

Theres room for a red team, which will clash really well in 6 games immediately, and sets the brand clearly away from the Patriots. The only team in the league with a red helmet is KC.

  3. 10/10 from me. The striping was done well where the white space between red/blue really pops. Makes them look individual from the 20 other RWB teams.

could do without the twin cities jersey but for a city based alt I’d rather this than anything more extreme. At least fits the brand in fonts, colors, and logos.

A custom typeface will always get me excited, theirs is unique and has personality, but not gimmicky or ridiculous. Great stuff. No unnecessary color outlines.

both Minnesota and Cleveland made unique identities out of an otherwise non-unique color scheme.

Overall 10/10 from me. didn’t have to reinvent the wheel and this look should last for years to come.

  4. The thing with the cardinals helmet is yes, it is very gimmicky, and on it's own it is BFBS and the red flakes will look okay, the anodized logo is meh.

The redeeming factor is it will mesh with their (admittedly not-great) black uniforms wayyyyy better than the white helmet did. Its only a garbage can on fire, not a dumpster.

  5. New Georgia Tech is a let down, simply from the Gold Pants and Jersey being so off-colored. They should pick one or the other, the foil and mustard just does not work, and the problems are highlighted by consistently placing them next to each other. The 49ers make it tolerable by never seeing the helmet with the pants color.

  6. The Panthers just need to do a smidge of cleaning up, things that really only us would notice.

Drop the shoulder numbers, and move the shoulder stripes a tad higher on the shoulder. Make the silver outlines a consistent width, and then match the pant stripe to said width. Decide if they stripes should close in the armpit or not.

The black helmet is nice, but the decal should match the shoulder panther (or change the shoulder panther to match the helmet). A small blemish, but the black helmet is one that does fit the team identity.

  7. I contest the silver helmet is really good and they didn’t need to add an alt, but this black one fits the brand well and I’m a fan of it.

jerseys just need a splash of tweaks to fit the modern cuts, but the panthers have a real nice set going in the grand scheme of things.

  8. Unfortunately the latest 2 rebrands went 100% into minimalist designs.

there’s a Goldilocks range between minimalist and gimmicky, but both the Jazz and Cavs missed by giving up personality to be simplistic.

in moments like these I really appreciate the tasteful design that teams like the Warriors, Sixers, Bulls, Grizzlies all have. For a uniform to last over time it doesn’t have to be plain!

  9. The social media reaction to the white helmet is overwhelmingly “icy”

PFF is the king of clickbait but yeesh:

theres just too much monochrome white happening around the league (and college). I know it looks good, but there’s teams that have that be part of their look, and then copycats who want “icy” looks

  10. The helmet will definitely look good, but after the last rebrand and now this, it feels like they’re trending away from orange. Yeah that helmet is there but orange is hard to find in the uniforms, and now we’re getting the black and white helmet.

just wishing we have more orange in the uniforms!

  11. This helmet should be the primary, red uniforms with white pants being the standard home look. Division has 3 other blue teams, this is how they can stand out (and the league lacks red primaries!) Good job Houston, about the only thing the franchise has done right in 4 years
