well, next week, undefeated Syracuse host 2-2 Clemson and I can't believe that is a factual statement I just typed. I already know this can only end one way, but Syracuse's prospects look pretty bright provided they can win even one of their next three games.

Even if not, that back end of the season's looking quite favorable for a strong finish. At the very least, it is nice that for the first time ever*, Syracuse has gone through its non-con slate undefeated.

*yes, since 1991 because everyone in the Northeast was independent, don't care

Syracuse/WMU kicked off at 12:30 and they're at halftime just not at nearly 2:30.

Why should any college football game take more than four hours?

The kicker is SYRACUSE HAS BEEN STREAMING EXCLUSIVE FOR THE SECOND STRAIGHT WEEK AND BOTH TIMES IT'S TAKEN 2 HOURS TO COMPLETE A HALF EVEN WITH THE NEW RULES!

Yes I know the Orange have put up points in bunches to lengthen the game, but still, IT'S STREAMING EXCLUSIVE!

That the Sox fanbase is as geographically limited as it is makes them admittedly a neat oddity of baseball. The only other team that that's the case for is the Islanders. (Topic for another day and another thread, but the Bears really punch below their weight as a national fanbase on both the "Chicago team" and "major-market NFL team" axes.)

Are the White Sox kind of like the Mets in terms of the geographic and demographic split we have in New York? So like the Mets fanbase is mainly Irish and Jewish or you're from Queens or some of Long Island if you're not in a majority Italian neighborhood (and unsurprisingly the two demographics has a lot of the old Brooklyn Dodger fanbase) while the Yankees pretty much have everyone and everywhere else. Then for the White Sox's case replace Jewish with Black and Queens with the Southside.

  9. Yeah ESPN's NBA coverage has always been... not great. Breen's the only touch of class it really has and outside of that everything seems mailed in, forgettable announcers and analysts, or downright bad (Van Gundy and Jackson, the studio, the 1 minute "halftime shows" that have 30 seconds of promotion and 30 seconds of LeBron or Curry highlights). The new head team should be good given Doc's prior work and if Doris can get back to the way she was back in the mid 2010's, but even if not she's miles ahead of the past two analysts.

TNT's obviously got the sauce with Inside the NBA and the production, though I will say the analyst side's really fallen off a cliff the past 5 years or so. Harlan/Eagle/Anderson are all great, but man Reggie and SVG are BAD.

Agreed. It's always cool and special to watch a Final with a franchise that has the chance to clinch their first title, sometimes after decades without much or any success. That certainly beats Warriors win lol or Yankees win lol.

We all know the user in question also complained non-stop about the Lightning being in their 3rd straight Cup Final the previous season, don't we?

  11. Just to back up with the Jets throwbacks, it is nice to get the 80s and 90s logo on the helmet and overall it looks great. The bad news is, that's now guaranteed to be two less opportunities for the Jets to actually wear any green below the neck right off the bat and the throwbacks don't replace the black alt. So already down to just 5 times the Jets might actually wear their actual primary color, and you know if they get off to a fast start they're gonna ride the WAH once again like they did last year

  12. I would greatly appreciate it if Illinois could stop being two years behind Syracuse in creating the same uniform all the friggen time. This has got to be like the 4th time out of the past 5 sets they just took what Nike gave Cuse and slapped the I on it instead of the S, though I guess this time it's the striping pattern a little bit up the shoulder instead of the sleeve

The canceled Madden 96 for the PS1 was supposed to feature the Fox graphics package. However, not a fan of how the inverted the colors of the Raiders logo.

Believe it or not, that's how Fox actually did the Raiders graphic (and the Lions, too). Though Fox was correct with the Chiefs logo IRL while Madden's is off in this graphic

Rochester is an interesting idea. Buffalo owns western New York, but couldn't support a third team. They struggle to keep up with supporting the Bills and Sabres. However, a team in Rochester would siphon a lot of support from Rochester and Syracuse that would be spending sports dollars at U of Syracuse or the Buffalo pro teams. Also draw some basketball fans from Buffalo to them. And grow a new base of fans who may watch on TV Buffalo sports and be fans of them but don't actively spend money attending games might latch on to a Rochester team. And become a regionally aligned team.  There are better options out there, but it is an interesting idea.

Eh, Rochester's in both the Sabres and Syracuse basketball spheres of influence for the winter, plus more importantly there's no real corporate support outside of Wegmans there since Kodak and Xerox went belly up 20 years ago. Given the Bills and Sabres were both on shaky ground in the past 20 years, there's probably a zero chance of the NBA of all leagues ending up in WNY
