I'm in the camp that the alternate MNF theme is better than Heavy Action. Heck, I use it as the intro song for doing games at my local high school.
For my contribution, I feel like almost every national NHL theme song somehow someway slaps, and one that didn't deserve to slap as hard as it did was the NHL on OLN/Versus theme before they went with that forgettable one for 2010-2011. Clearly the entire budget for the first season of coverage went to paying the music company

MSG+ rebranded to the equally creative MSGSN and also broke out a new scorebug, though the rest of the graphics remain the same for now. We'll see if that changes up come regular season time

Few days late on this. Normally I'm not a fan of Syracuse going orange/orange/orange, but it contrasted really nicely with the black and gold of Purdue on Saturday. The new lighting system and roof they put in the Dome the past 2 or 3 years helps a lot, too

Probably wishful thinking, but then again you do have Lou in charge, but at least with Mr. and Mrs. Met the Islanders' 50th logo is where the ad placement is

Looks like the Sharks change might actually be imminent
Between this, the confusion on what jerseys the Knights have, and the late Canes home jersey swap, is it me or has this season had a lot more late announcements and surprise changes since the pre-CCM/Koho deal days?

At first glance I loved it, but then looking at it closely they need to bring in some silver to that. Definitely an upgrade either way

New NFL Graphics chart (at least so far until Week 1 where it is all set in stone):
- ESPN/ABC: ️ (Obviously)
- FOX: ️ (but they have the Super Bowl and the last time they unveiled new graphics it was a Super Bowl so watch out)
- CBS: ️ (Obviously, Week 0 CFB games using the current graphics)
- NBC: ️ (Unveiled during the Super Bowl)
- Amazon ️ (by default for replacing FOX so it is on the Obviously category)
- NFL Network: Probably going back to in house production so ️
I'd hold off until Week 1 with ESPN/ABC given the new Buck and Aikman era starting for MNF. Fox can be unpredictable but I can see them holding out to the Super Bowl or ride it through to their next Super Bowl in just 2 years time
FWIW all the college football broadcasters that had Week 0 games (ESPN, Fox, CBSSN) all have the same packages as they had last year. We'll see if NBC finally gets Notre Dame off the 2015 set but not holding my breath there

Man this looks like it's gonna be even better than 1.0. Doubling down on being the only good leaguewide jersey program

So, quick question: now that Amazon Prime has Thursday Night Football, where does NBC go from here? Are they just gonna keep rocking with Sunday Night Football, a playoff game or two, and then the Super Bowl in 3 years?
NBC's still got their usual deal of SNF, the Kickoff Game, Thanksgiving Night game, and 3 playoff games plus the Super Bowl on Winter Olympic years. Only thing the TNF package changes is Fox doesn't air their 10 or so Thursday Nighters anymore and NFL Network's live regular season games are just for the December Saturday games and a few Europe games here and there

Has a feel of something NBC would come out, in a good way. Based on the shots from that article it looks like a pretty good graphics package

Warner Bros. Discovery isn't going to acquire programming that costs them money. They can't even afford to do the show where Samantha Bee stands in front of a TV with her hands on her knees and complains about Bernie Sanders. Maybe they'll do a show about college football players renting apartments. They can do that.
Yeah Warner Bros. Discovery's going all cost cutting, plus they've got the ginormous renewal up ahead soon with the NBA deal up in 2 years to deal with on top of just starting two medium-term deals with the NHL and MLB. I don't think they're going to rack up any other rights for a while
-
NHL 97 just stuck the Islanders in the original colors during the Fishstick era, so take that as either a glaring miss or a protest against how they looked

Good news is it's looking like it's just the fans doing a blackout while they wear the 90s throwbacks

Well if there's anything we've learned the past 12 years or so, there's nothing the Mets love more than to break out a new uniform for one weekend in August every like 3 years just for it to never be seen again, so until proven otherwise I'll say that's what's going to happen

But the sports aren't all broadcast by the same entity, so that isn't what happens. Each sport negotiates its own contracts.
Sort of
College football is done conference by conference after the College Football Alliance was shot down by the Supreme Court, so there's no blanket TV contract for college football. As a result, each conference has their own TV deals, usually for all the sports in the conference but in some cases divided up sport by sport. College football's got its own ecosystem with the College Football Playoff and bowl games each having their own TV deals. Then the NCAA Championships have Men's Basketball as one contract with CBS/Turner, then the vast majority of the rest of D-1 sports' television rights all under one contract with ESPN. However, that latter contract also includes women's basketball along with every other sport, so that's come under fire lately as the women's basketball tournament could make a lot more money going by itself than at the comparative bargain ESPN's getting as including it with the non-revenue NCAA Championships contract. With the way things are going, I could see them breaking off the NCAA Tournament rights for women's basketball and maybe some or all of baseball, softball, FCS football, men's hockey, and lacrosse (combined into men's and women's rights) tournaments into separate, independent contracts that would be up for bid while the remainder of the non-revenues stick into that blanket deal.

I was heading into this expecting the decals to be all white and be devoid of green, so this is better than I expected. But still, the best helmet option for the BFBS alts (which I'm on record and stand that as far as BFBS alts go, it's done pretty well) is the one they already have with the green helmets.
Texans remain the only team that's doing any hit towards my "alternate helmets only for throwbacks" stance, FWIW. Panthers are okay but would've been better off trying carolina blue for an alternate and the black helmet's not an improvement over the silver ones, so that's a wash.

I'm very much so in the camp of "the only alternate helmets should be throwbacks," but I really do like what the Texans have done here (much to the contrast of the Saints botching up what should've just been a color swap). These could work well with the color rush jerseys, too

Plus I don't think you'll see them lifting local blackouts for streaming any time soon either, as they're making a killing off those OTA contracts that they just re-upped and giving the option to just cut the cord entirely negates those mega deals. So basically for now it'll be what Sunday Ticket was on DirecTV, but via streaming
And goes without saying DirecTV's probably on its death bed with this news
