FWIW, Hartman’s contract with the Commanders is one of the largest for undrafted free agents at $245k guaranteed. He’s likely to make the roster right off the bat. Beating out Jake Fromm and Jeff Driskel for QB3.

Speaking of 2012, Kyle Shanahan had an interview at some point this past season where he described in detail how they had planned to sit at R1P6, draft Ryan Tannehill, then turn around and draft Russell Wilson. Oh, what could’ve been.

For any undrafted free agent QBs, the goal needs to be Cooper Rush or Jake Browning, playing well enough to keep your team competitive and earn a pretty decent contract as one of the better backups in the league.  Time will tell if Tommy Devito or Tyson Bagent have a long term future in the NFL though.  Hartman can have a career in the NFL if he can be Rush or Browning....or unless he's great at the film room, which can get a mediocre QB a 5 or 6 year career (Tim Boyle).

I think they would need to do a lot of work with the Coliseum. Not as much as what the Raiders wanted, but there has to be some upkeep done to make it worth the city's, and the UFL's time.

There will probably be some renovations to the Coliseum when the Oakland Roots start playing there in 2025.

  3. A potentially bad QB Class for next year, plus teams that could need QBs in Dallas, Las Vegas, Cleveland, New Orleans, New York Giants, New York Jets, Pittsburgh, LA Rams and Seattle, none of whom have any idea who their long term guy is going to be.

I will laugh so damn hard if the Cowboys let Dak Prescott walk because they think Trey Lance can be the one.

Technically different owners, even though same family.  At least I'm pretty sure they were not drafted by the same Rooney.

It was pretty touching, once Jeff Lurie got on the phone to talk to him, as his mother had recently passed away, and Lurie had grown close to their family over the years, knowing him from the time he was born.

The Eagles frustratingly don't seem to care about the LB position, but I hope so much that he's good and can stick with the team.

I don't wear jerseys, and only own 4, ranging from 1991 - 2008.  Jeremiah Trotter is one of those 4.  I'm so happy that they got Jr, even if I've never actually seen him play and don't know if it was a legit pick or a "let's do his dad a solid" pick.

Jeremiah Sr. also doesn't have to go very far to watch his son play.

  5. If the AFL collapses, I could see Albany, Orlando and Nashville all jumping to the more stable IFL, but they might struggle mightily like the Jacksonville Sharks have.  However, all three would benefit the IFL in a few ways.

    • Orlando would become a close geographic partner to the Sharks and they would renew that rivalry from the NAL.  Albany would give the Massachusetts Pirates a close geographic partner.  Adding Nashville would give the IFL a footprint in the South outside of Florida.    There are large parts of this country where the IFL has no presence in.
    • If all three jump, plus the addition of the Fishers Freight and Dakota Bucks, that would give the IFL 21 teams with 5 brand new teams for 2025 (well technically 4 since the Bucks would be re-activated but with a new name, with rumors of the team moving from Bismarck to Fargo).

  6. Some notable undrafted free agent QBs include Kedon Slovis (Colts), Sam Hartman (Commanders), Emory Jones (Ravens) and John Rhys Plumlee (Steelers although he's coming into the NFL as a Wide Receiver, which he apparently played a bit of at UCF).

Have there been any instances where the same owner drafted the father and the son, like the Eagles just did with Jeremiah Trotter and Jeremiah Trotter Jr.?  Hearing them talking on the phone, when they've known each other since the player was born, was pretty cool.

    Also, Dallas sucks.

Steelers with Joey Porter and Joey Porter Jr.

I think you have a point, other than Carson Beck, Quinn Ewers, who's going to be available that moves the needle? Cam Ward and Dillon Gabriel might be able to move up in the draft with their stats, but Gabriel will have to deal with some tougher defenses in the Big Ten this year and Ward is at Miami which brings its own challenges. Cade Klubnick could come out, but I don't think that he's any better than what quarterbacks are still available in this year's draft. Will Howard has the chance to do something at Ohio State, but he might not even be the starter in August unless Chip Kelly decides to go with age before talent. DJ might help Florida State win a lague title and a playoff game, but he's more likely yo be playing in the UFL or CFL than he is in the NFL.

teams that could be looking: Cowboys (if Dak walks away), Giants, Jets, Raiders, Seahawks, Rams, Steelers, Titans, Browns and Saints

And say that whomever has the first pick can't draft him because Dion doesn't like their third string LT.

Deion has already listed the teams he wants to take his son and Travis Hunter.  Basically all of the teams he's played for (Falcons, 49ers, Cowboys, Commanders, Ravens) and Eagles.  None of those teams need a QB, unless the Cowboys let Dak Prescott walk away (which is still possible).

Coach Prime is going to hype his son Shedeur up as a first round pick.

  11. So do you guys agree with what Mike Florio says about defensive head coaches in that if the OC that they hire becomes a head coach, that team is most likely to hire a new OC who may have a new system that stunts a young QB's growth?  He also says that having an offensive head coach is better for a young QB because they will have the same system in place even if the OC leaves for somewhere else, so because of that he thinks that Nix and McCarthy will do really well.
