I'm more on the side of this feeling wrong only because the Cubs had to clinch on the road instead of at home. If this series goes down the same way with Game 7 at Wrigley, rest assured they are wearing their classic home white.

Even then, I don't feel that this was as bad as say, the 2016 Cavs in black when clinching their title, for instance.

I do have one recent pick that I wish went differently: 2022 Astros. Personally, it feels weird to see them win the title with what began as a BP jersey and is now a glorified alternate instead of putting on their home white or the orange alternate.

Houston Astros top Philadelphia Phillies 4-1 in Game 6 to win World Series

I agree with this one - winning the 2017 WS in the orange alts was acceptable, but it just felt bleh with them winning the WS with this jersey in 2022.

Also, since they are back in the playoffs, the Marlins winning the 2003 WS in their black alts always felt odd and bland for me...

    Bingo.

This logo is so terrible on so many levels. It only lasted a few years, which ended up being the only time in my life I actually watched wrestling. I just assumed it was supposed to be some abstract symbol. Literally never noticed the WCW for the longest time. So not only does it look incredibly stupid, I wonder how many people actually noticed the letters.

It tried to look futuristic, but instead it looked way too goofy.

The poster child of failure - WCW from 1999-2001.

There's nothing intrinsically wrong with them per se, but because we've all gotten so used to wordmarks being centered underneath the front collar, it just ends up looking like a production error to have them on the shoulder instead. The Seahawks are an exception because there's at least some actual design there and it's not just tacked on like the other two examples.

I think the only team that has pulled it off are the Seahawks because it incorporates so well into the design.

It's the same thing for the random team logo patches on the shoulders - it makes no sense, and I think the only team that pulls it off are the Steelers.

I know Kaprizov is 97 for the same reason, as well as Crosby. And any kid born in 99 has to use a different number for their birth year in the NHL (and just across hockey in general)

I know those higher-range numbers are becoming more common in motorsports, especially in those series where drivers choose their numbers. Seeing drivers have numbers like 63 and 81 are pretty wonky at first glance, but it's interesting because some drivers choose those numbers because it was their first karting number.

  5. I've enjoyed this series so much! I'm a huge alternate history nerd, so getting to see "what could have been" visualized has been great. Take that well deserved rest, and keep on making amazing concepts!

Mountain Dew is making a return to NASCAR with Justin Haley & Kaulig Racing

Haley's consistently had some of the best schemes this year. This, the Tide Ride, Leaffilter, the Benesch car at Chicago...

Kauilg has been cranking out some of the best paint schemes in the game the past few years, IMO.

The fact J&J had used the exact same logo since 1887 is mind blowing.

I can't think of another logo that's older than J&J (maybe Coca-Cola, or Shell?) but the fact that this logo was used for that long shows the test of time.

  8. I do think that the New Jersey state flag's colors do match really well with the Mets IMO (and are also a good color combination in general). It gives me Kent State vibes, which is good (coming from a Ball State fan). Keep up the good work!

On the disappointing side, but it is what it is. No use complaining about it. The ride is still open, so hopefully they do their homework and find the best candidate for the position.

Maybe it could be Chandler? I'm trying to think of candidates, but nothing comes to mind.

  10. This is brilliant stuff. I am not really a Hoosier fan (Go Boilers!) but I have always respected their identity, especially the candy cane stripes. Simple yet effective.  I do feel like this is something that IU can capitalize on with their other sports, and not just limit it to basketball. And, your mockups are very good too.

I'm hopping onto that website now. Keep up the great work!

I don't know if this is an unpopular opinion, but I would love for the oversized O'Brien trophy to come back in center court for the NBA Finals. Maybe it's because the opulence of the branding has been basically nonexistent for the past few years, but I feel like these special made courts (and the patches on the uniforms) adds to the importance of the event.

I like Justin a lot and he's the reason I find myself rooting for the Kaulig guys. He has specifically said that Keselowski was part of his negotiations so I think the alliance between the two will be pretty strong. I wonder if Keselowski is thinking long-term and wants Haley in the Ford camp sooner than later.

I see some parallels between Kes and Haley; both have a great ability on superspeedways, and Haley has shown that he can contend on road courses as well (just like Kes in his prime).

Sure, RWR is aligning itself with RFK next season, but it kinda seems like a step back for Haley.

As for the Haley move to RWR (as I have his car as my profile picture)...

I can see why people are seeing this move as a downgrade; RWR is one of the backmarker teams, but I feel like them signing Haley will be a move in the right direction. This means that they can focus on one driver full-time (ideally they would just field one team for Justin), and he brings some good experiences; he's great at superspeedways and has shown that he can hold his own. The RFK alliance will help things as well, and I hope that RFK will put some of their staff over at RWR to help things and to strengthen the alliance.

I really want this to work for Justin.

Once again JRM drivers screwing themselves out of good finishing position.

This time, Berry and Mayer having the best chance at finishing 1-2 only for Berry to lose his cool and wreck himself trying to door Mayer, but not before Allgaier slammed into the wall on the final lap.

    What a miserable team honestly.

Berry snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. I'm still trying to process how the heck Berry lost that race.

In other news, Denny has officially solidified himself as NASCAR's #1 heel.

I’m sure Indianapolis is lovely as most cities are but does ANYBODY consider Indiana nights uniquely special enough to deserve a uniform?

Hoosier here, and no. Indiana nights are not special. They are forgettable.

  16. Lifelong Colts fan here, and who knows, I might be going through the five stages of grief?

Black? On a Colts uniform? What type of sacrilege is happening here?

However, the racing stripes do work (because it is Indiana) and the heather pattern are interesting.

But, if any team does not need an alternate uniform, it's the Colts! The home and away sets are the definition of classic and timeless, and they are just now toying around with the Colts identity.

Full disclosure: I just saw this uniform five minutes ago, so I'm still letting my emotions process.
