So do you think it is better not to do it?

But to do what I have in mind I need a lot more time and consequently have funds available and be able to concentrate only on the project.

How about turning your artworks into something real? Like a poster of all the leagues you created?

You people can go cry some more because someone posted a Sports Design opinion on a thread about Sports Design...  You can get your panties in a twist because someone pointed out how many times a striping template has been recycled ad nauseam by Adidas.

I mean, you're not wrong. After all, even during the O6 era, there are small minor league teams whose jerseys have stripes of every thickness level, pattern, and other variations. Okay, maybe 1 of them might look what Adidas keeps 'recycling'.

But what do I know? It's a Heritage Classic with a fauxback flavor (at least that's what Buffalo is going for). Wish the Leafs would do the same and just lift some old jersey from the past and apply it to their design. Makes it more tolerable than whatever they have currently.

  3. If you want to take away from the black alternate jersey, look at the name plate there:

    FKojsVfXIAAf48c?format=jpg&name=medium

That is the only good part I have to say about this jersey. Imitating the logo wordmark and apply it the same way to the name plate is a nice touch and isn't too bad at all. What IS too bad is that it's now stuck with lame jersey nobody buys.

Like, that's a nice diamond in a pile of goat :censored:.

Bettman is just a stooge for the owners. He takes point when it's league vs. players, league vs. TV partners, league vs. advertisers, etc., but when it comes how the NHL organizes itself and where they plop down their franchises, the owners call the shots while Bettman spazzes out to the media on their behalf.

You should be barking up the trees of the Molson Family, MLSE, and Jeremy Jacobs, probably in that order. They're the ones most responsible for the NHL tying itself in double-knots to avoid placing a franchise in one of the very few viable open locations in North America with an actual hockey appetite and wouldn't require constant handouts to keep afloat (barring another crapout of the Canadian dollar).

Huh, I thought the commissioner is the one in charge of who gets a franchise. I get there must be an owner's vote or something, because that's the only reason why they don't want to take the heat and instead let Bettman do it.

Still, not liking a decision to keep a failing franchise afloat and approving ad patches on jerseys (even when it's small).

  5. It won't come to me as a shock if Bettman and the rest of his gang build a church upon the First Nation graves, take a huge dump on said church, spewing out anti-mask and anti-vaxx statements like yapping dogs, and to top it all off, intentionally misgendering and insulting some group of Trans people, JUST to spite the Canadians into furious thinking and bluffing while laughing at how much outrage they can get and still get their positions as official leaders of the NHL.

EDIT: I feel this 'wishing a terrorist to come and kill that guy' isn't enough. Gary Bettman makes mentally challenged people look like Einstein in comparison, considering what kind of thinking he's thinking. I may be a middle-level autistic, and even I know that is shameful by league's standard.

Wouldn't it hurt to add in the team's name? Right now, it could be any team if you replace the flower with something else, because it looks a bit generic.

Maybe you can make the logo shaped like a Mitsubishi logo while modifying its shape to be appropriate for football.

Market size can't be the only metric that's used in these decisions, as it's not an apples-to-apples comparison.  The Tampa Bay Rays are a great example.  On paper, MLB baseball should do OK there, but the area is very sprawled with little density, poor (if any) public transit to get people too/from games, and a pretty lousy pro sports culture in general.

Phoenix isn't much different.  It's market size is also spread out over a huge area made up of strip malls and parking lots.  That's not conducive to sports that play more than once a week.  I've been in the Phoenix area a bunch of times, albeit only in Phoenix proper once, but my observation of Phoenix proper was that nobody actually lives there and it's a ghost town after 5PM because everyone's going home to Scottsdale or one of the neighboring communities.

A smaller market where the games are easily accessible and a higher percentage of the market actually cares should be what the NHL is going for since it's more gate driven than any of the other sports.  For the other sports where revenues are driven so much by the markets that they're selling to the TV and radio partners, it might be another story, but the NHL should stop pretending it's anything but a niche league and go where people want it rather than try to force it for no reason other than to appear major league.

Isn't Phoenix a niche market in the sense of the fact hockey isn't super popular there? Because on the other hand, practically everyone (even myself) wanted Quebec to have their franchise back which tells me it's not a niche market, but a major one outside the paper.

And if anyone wants to talk about Houston being impractical because of limited public access, the only possible way for me to mitigate this problem is to build an arena 10 miles away from the metro area and build a dedicated public network of train stations and buses. That hypothetical team isn't technically playing in Houston, and if the plan I come up still doesn't solve the issue, just call me a dumbass and send my head to Trois-Rivière.

It’s a realization, I feel, that I’m coming to as well. The NHL’s higher ups are hellbent on keeping the Coyotes in Arizona and a team out of Quebec City, logic be damned. Some kind of true contraction/re-expansion almost seems more likely than a simple relocation at this point. The NHL will get that sweet, sweet expansion fee when Team #32 (II) is ready!

Speaking of Team 32, how are Seattle doing, financially and popularity-speaking?

If 6 possible cities are given the honour of relocating the poor Yotes out of a cactus wasteland, and 1/3 of it ends up in Canada, Bettman will die of a massive heart attack.

But in all honesty, with the exception of Houston and Quebec City (which still has a chance of getting back the Nords even by a bit), none of the other cities are getting an NHL franchise soon. Austin is a pile of wank compared to Houston, California doesn't need a 4th team aside from LA, Anaheim and San Jose, a 2nd Toronto team will struggle against the much-established Leafs, and Kansas City AFAIK can only host an AHL-level team .

Quebec City seems the most logical choice. This seems a lot like the Jets situation with a willing owner and an 18 000 NHL ready arena already built and run by by the owners who want the team.  Quebecor Media also has the French broadcasting rights for the NHL through TVA Sports so it would make the most sense to relocate there. Move the Jackets back west to take the Coyotes spot in the Central Division, the Nordiques play in the Atlantic Division and one of either Boston, Florida or Tampa to the Metropolitan Division... But this is a Bettman run NHL so logic doesn't apply.

Probably because you can't make money off a small market team in Bettman's eyes. I'll be surprised if it actually happened because, as far as I know, Houston will be more likely to host an NHL team whether you like it or not.

  11. I'll be quite honest with you all. Nike doesn't do traditions as much often as, say, Adidas or CCM. They're experts in making bolder, modern designs that would be better fit in Stadium Series than just a regular old-timey jersey. Maybe once in a while, Nike can go back to basics with a simple pattern a la what Sweden has to offer now. For most of the time, however, all what Nike does is create balls-to-the-walls sweaters that don't necessarily fit within the traditions of hockey jerseys (e.g. their 2018 geometric eagle feathers jersey).

Because unless you're someone like China or any modern-day hockey national team, Olympic jerseys will always be weird and ugly no matter how Nike can put out on. They're not EXPERTS at traditions, and they learn very little about it.

Now, if I can say this to people who :censored: about Adidas' design choices...

  12. I prefer the Smashville wordmark to actually fit in the yellow stripe, and the yellow stripe itself to be shrink down a little. That way, it gives the C patch a breathing space instead of being squashed terribly.

Actually, the more I look at the jersey, the more I notice a load of design flaws it has. Creative, yes, but the rest is a disasterpiece by its own right. This and the Turdburger should be a reminder of how NOT to design a jersey. Especially when it comes to one-offs and alternates.

Why has no one draw the line between tasteful and ugly when it comes to Stadium Series designs?

This or nothing.  Stop being stupid, San Jose.  Your Fox Kids Saturday Morning Cartoon shark and forced dabblings of orange have ruined what used to be one of the best looks in hockey.  Right your wrongs, you stupid bastard franchise.

Keep the jersey. Remove this outdated logo. San Jose's updated logo is so much better than their inaugural season. Just remove the orange and that'll be it.

I don't like this update here. The sleeves and hem stripe are ruining the look for me. The chrome helmet and white gloves are just the tip of the iceberg. Overall, just throwback to the Gretzky days like everybody else does in the league. Here, it's what the Islanders wore except there's an extra stripe for the sleeves.

C'mon, you could've just update the old logo and be off with it. The new design is a step in the right direction with a clean look, but it lacked the punch of what the old logo has in mind. I'm disappointed.

I don't mind when an alternative kits go a little nuts. This looks good as a fashion shirt.

The last part is the sad part of what the kit is. Yes, it looks good, but only when you wear it as a T-shirt and not a football kit.

I mean, come on. Football kits are already fashion accessories. Why make it complicated than a fashion show dress?
