Most people understand pitch black to simply mean extremely dark. Pitch blue is a clever name to me, though one might find it a waste of time to make a blue so dark it's nearly indistinguishable from black anyway.

If that's the case, most people are wrong. Not knowing what a word means doesn't excuse its misuse. That point is mute [sic].

I completely agree with your second sentence.

Why is pitch blue so stupid? It's like pitch black... but blue-tinted. Makes sense to me.

Because 'pitch' is an actual thing that is black.

I'm guessing he meant the inner blue circle and the outer blue circular outline.

It definitely could've been any other shape besides a circle/roundel, but does it really matter? It's a placeholder.

I wasn't sure that was a dark blue as opposed to black. Or am I missing something?

“Pitch blue” is about the stupidest name for a color I’ve ever seen.

However, it’s slightly less dumb for a baseball team.

I have a hunch this is a future Mountain Dew flavor.

Did he become a Milwaukee Brewers fan? Guess he could not take the Mets anymore lol

Barstool arranged for him to be here. I know he was on Steve Czaban's morning show today. (Czabe is in Milwaukee, albeit virtually, these days)

So... as I mentioned, we've got three uniforms left missing.  I was able to find on Twitter mentions of the St. Louis blues being delayed until June.  I knew I'd read that on here somewhere.  I also found mention by fans that the Brewers are awaiting their City Connects.

Then there's the Cubs.  I've had the Wikipedia page for the City Connect program up because it has the dates and days for each so I don't have to keep reopening other pages.  Looking at it a second ago, I just realized that it says the Cubs wear their City Connects on Friday home games "June-September".  That... seemed... odd.  So I went back through the Getty galleries for their games.  In June 2021, the uniforms were revealed.  Since then, it appears (unless a couple slipped through out of the 486-ish games) that they have every year started wearing them at the start of June and then gone back to home pinstripes the last few Friday home games.  I can see wanting your fans to see the traditional look at Wrigley at the start and end of the season.  It's just odd to see that it seems a concerted effort to hold them off until two months in.  I've never heard this mentioned before.

Post game today (per Brewer beat writer on Twitter), the scoreboard graphics were showing a player in the City Connect uniform, possibly an indication that they're coming soon.

Gonna get blasted for this one, but there is nothing less interesting and more space consuming than full-season uniform predictions that serve nothing but to exercise the poster's fingers and make the thread pages and pages away from any legitimate discussion.  I suppose this post is somewhat the same thing, but i'm sticking to it.

Since this is about reality, maybe there could be the "pointless full-season uniform-prediction outpost."

Last year's thread said (paraphrasing) 'don't use this to make your predictions' in the opening post. This year says 'go ahead'.  I'll sit out this year's thread, because I'm in agreement with you on the pointlessness of those predictions at any point in the year.

There's this umpire grades twitter account that I like, but I haven't tried to commit any umpires' names to memory.

There was a guy who had a near perfect game behind the plate in the NLCS last year. Was wrong on two pitches in the whole game. Don't remember his name, don't care to look because he did a good job and not knowing umpires is how it should be.

Yup - Umpscorecards is a great follow. I like looking back on how I think the game was called, and then also comparing this picture to the at bat in MLB.com's Gameday.

I know I'm late on this, but I'm playing catch up.

I can't speak for DC or Virginia, but the Maryland agency is the Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA), so Marylanders don't always think Department of Motor Vehicles when they see DMV.

It actually seems like the ultimate 'city connect', in that one area uses that acronym for something that is seemingly totally different from everyone else 🙂

  10. Cubs and Cards agree to a 2:30 rain delay on Sunday night, starting at 8:45PM Central, to avoid a 5-game 3-day series in the only other meeting in St. Louis this year.

That schedule is a problem for two teams in the same division.

At very least, they could presumably show some 2D renderings.

Depending on the design process, they literally might not exist. I think what @MCM0313 is getting at is that they may have developed helmet concepts but not uniforms to go with them.

Maybe someone more connected to the process could chime in.

Jeez, you’re super hypercritical of a team based in Detr— oh wait.

No. I'm supercritical of an idiotic idea.

I didn't really expect you to answer the question I asked, but I'll try again. If people in Detroit aren't attending games now, what makes you think moving  them 2.5 hours away will make more of them attend? Remember - that's what you said here:
Would there actually be enough fans willing to make the 2.5-3 hr trek outside of Detroit to see a spring league football game? Enough to fill 1/3 of the stadium?

Just throwing out ideas for the UFL to mask the horrendous attendance numbers of Ford Field

How about finding a place that wants to attend? Moving them Western Michigan in hopes that people would make a 2.5 hour drive is stupid. They aren't making that long of a drive now - why would they do it to go someplace else to see them????

    Seriously - WTF?

Pretending to be shocked, the now defunct Louisiana VooDoo owe UL Lafayette more than $30,000 for use of Blackham Coliseum. The insurance certificate provided to the university listed the  also now defunct Minnesota Myth as the insured party. Im pretty sure this is the same reason they got kicked out of Lake Charles.

That would be the perfect way to do it. The White Sox did it with theirs, I think it would be a great way to keep a traditional look (I.e. pinstripes) with a more modern outlook, and keep it in the Yankee's ballpark. Even do a hat with a Navy "NY" logo outlined in white and boom. There it is.

Because some other team did something is not a good reason for another team to do it, especially one with a storied history and infrequently changing uniform. This same suggestion was made in the NFL thread that because the Carolina Panthers had done something, the Green Bay Packers should as well. Nope.

So what is "enough", and why is minor league football expected to draw so many more people than other minor league sports? The league-wide attendance average for the AHL this past season was 5,920, and that was a record high. The top team, Cleveland, averaged 10,347. For baseball, the IL averaged 6,061 and the PCL averaged 5,762, with their top teams averaging 7,990 and 7,048 respectively.

So while Michigan's numbers could certainly be better, it seems pretty in line with minor league attendance numbers.

I guess 'not enough' in terms of being financially viable.

Too many people seem to will this into being bigger than it is. I agree with you that it is minor league football. But minor league football doesn't play in major league venues on broadcast TV - so there's a disconnect. I try to point that out when people don't seem to (want to) see it.
