IMO, that is the best looking jersey they've ever had.  I wish they'd just reversed it on the road...

I really like the Robo-penguin as a logo more than the Skating penguin - but I get the history and at the end of the day, the skating penguin is kind of iconic, so fair enough.

I would like the Robo-penguin even more if it lost the 2 lines in the black area though (I know, don't care.) and used some subtle detailing in the yellow and black triangles on the actual jersey. I think that'd be real nice.

  2. Bit late to the party, but I don't mind the TB stadium series jersey for what it is. Seems to be the treatment that a lot of these teams go for - big and stylized so it can be seen at a distance.

Not as into Nashville's.  I could see how that idea COULD maybe work but the final execution doesn't hit. I'm rarely a fan of shoulder patches being used on the front of jerseys and the guitar pick is definitely in that category. Feels to me like it was a compromise by the designers to have to include the pick.

The Ducks just need to pick a lane.  If you're going to use the D foot, fine, but get your :censored: together otherwise.  Everything they are right now is a brand salad topped with bad 2010-ish uniform trends.  The Capitals aren't far behind with the same sins.

100%. I can't stand the webbed D anywhere near the original Ducks uniforms, it looks awful. They're 2 completely different design styles.

I'm of the opinion that the less the Ducks use orange, the better. That jersey is honestly perfect for me, especially with the dazzle fabric. It's honestly so good. Save the orange and go all out with it in an alt jersey.

Yeah I agree. It's really nice -- a perfect balance.

  5. I can't really explain it, but I always had a slight soft spot for the Ducks wordmark and the uniforms they were used on. I mean I never loved it, but maybe it was because I was a supporter of them moving away from the Disney identity at the time, I liked seeing the Ducks look a bit more serious and mean (maybe I still am). It's definitely not a great 'logo', but I don't think it's awful. I remember being really onboard for them to just finally use the webbed D by itself, thinking that the decision would possibly cement the non-Disney identity as something quite solid and respectable for the franchise. However by that stage I probably started realising that the logo itself was a bit lacking, and removing 'ucks' wasn't really going to suddenly propel it into the top 10 logos in the league. In fact, I started disliking it, and now I honestly think the webbed D is probably the weakest logo in the league.  Funny how opinions change over time.

I forgot about those... Those are nice.

I could see an argument that maybe the Sharks should have a sweater a little more "untraditional" than this one, since they were a product of the 90s. But this is sharp. Very balanced.

Just way too much going on.

Why what? That the moon is the best center ice logo? IDK I just loved the way it looked.

Fine if that's your thing. I find it a bit lacking. Much prefer when teams emblazon their actual, you know, team logo on a huge surface rather than a tertiary mark (which I think is highly overrated by many).

  8. Every diagonal text jersey that isn't the Rangers just looks so ineffective to me. I don't know if it's because of the number of letters and the size that they end up being scaled to, or if it's just because I identify that look with the Rangers and any team who tries to mimic it just automatically appears inferior by comparison. Either way I don't like them.

The problem with the Avs elimination of black is that the shades of blue and red have very similar levels of brightness; there's almost no contrast between the two.

To illustrate this, I'll use these desaturated photos. When you had black in the color scheme, the white and silver were the light-tones, the red and blue acted as mid-tones, and the black acted as your dark tones. While unconventional, black equipment balanced the uniforms out because there's almost no dark tones on the sweater outside of the hockey pucks in the logos.

Once you remove black from the color scheme, the entire uniform is solely midtones and highlights. Other teams pull off "no dark colors" looks well enough, so that isn't entirely the problem, but because there's almost zero contrast between the brightness levels of the blue and the red, there's something jarring and a bit off about it.

I'll be honest that the black equipment never bothered me and I much prefer it to the current blue equipment, but if the team was going to eliminate black, the better course of action  would have been meeting in the middle of the black and current blue by using the navy the team had been using as an alternate...

The contrast is much easier on the eyes here in my opinion, others might disagree. Personally, I'd hate to lose the Avs current shade of blue for another generic navy team, but I do think it's a better solution to accomplish what the Avs were attempting to do.

That last pic looks more like the Avs to me. Would be a nice solution to the whole black thing. The jerseys they have this year (and their whites for the last few years) have always looked to me like they're unfinished.

    Hot take! Nice.

I would concede MLB but that's basically it. How are NFL uniforms boring? I assume then that you only care about NHL jerseys? As someone who doesn't watch hockey, it's hard for me to care about them. And even then, I can only appreciate or dislike certain sweaters, do not care about the shorts or other equipment.

Soccer kits bore me and the advertising on the chest makes me lack respect for them.

NFL uniforms are easily boring to me. As with NBA I'm not saying they can't be nitpicked and analysed and done well etc, but there's not much to any of them. I think the big difference for hockey is the prominent logo and how it influences the entire look of the uniform. It's a art piece. Every other sport is essentially just a colour scheme and some numbers. Soccer kits I enjoy to an extent because you see a bit more creativity more often, but even them I'm not that into.
