  1. I think the biggest issue was getting the games on TV if ABC/ESPN and Fox are trying to grab up college football to fill in weekends this spring. They also may not want people trying to compare XFL to NCAA games, especially if it's FCS and below. They may also still want to keep teams that were scheduled to move in the same areas, but in smaller stadiums or obtaining better rental plans for those that were already in small stadiums.

Honestly, I hope it ends up on the helmet or as a jersey patch. This is a fantastic evolution of merit decals without feeling like they're copying Ohio State/FSU/etc. They all look similar enough that from afar they look like a standard piece of the uniform, but different enough that the individual players have something to show off. I generally lean towards classic when it comes to uniform, but this is something incredibly creative and new.

That would be a neat thing to do as a jersey patch for Senior Day, since their "family history" would be completed at that time.

Replacing the gold star in a circle with an * as below makes this accurate.

I get the recruiting hype train, but how does have 85 different "crests" promote the notion of a "uniform" jersey? And why are they relying on sub-Game of Thrones level "house" logos? Are these going to be helmet stickers? The whole thing is really bizarre and seems to promote individual players over the team.

I'm thinking these won't actually be on the uniform, but will be somewhere in the facilities.

Did it bother anyone else besides me that the numbers on Virginia’s helmets are blue outlined in orange while the logo is orange outlined in blue? I guess maybe their thought process was playing off the orange and blue stripes on the helmet but it just looks off to me. The number side feels heavy because it’s blue when compared to all the orange on the other side.

no. It bothers me that they don't have the primary logo on both sides of the helmet.

Is it the programs themselves...or is it their suppliers??

I'd imagine if the programs didn't want to do things like this they would say no. In the case of Louisville, the city, Ali has gotten a lot of love since his issues with Parkinson's and after his death. For Pittsburgh, the steel workers have been, for lack of a better word, fetishized for years by every team that plays in Pittsburgh, not just the Steelers.

It was a bad idea from the start. Leave the steel mill innuendo to the pro team that you share a stadium with. Since pitt is an institution of higher learning why not have student-athletes commemorate more scholarly pursuits?

Why can't they honor part of the city's history? Should Louisville not have honored Muhammad Ali with their unis last year?

This is one of the worst uniforms I have ever seen. It breaks all of the 3 Cs for good design. CONTRAST. COLOR and CONSISTENCY. It is wretched when Pitt has a beautiful, bright colored jersey and helmet combo. The panther logo would work if it were blue on the yellow helmet.

Since the idea is that they're coming off the work floor of a steel mill it makes sense for how it's designed.

did a very rudimentary stripe edit for Ole Miss, looks a little better I think. spacer.png

The fact that they didn't have stripes took away from the pants. I wonder if they had ordered matching pants that didn't arrive and decided to go without stripes instead of wearing navy and red. I know Mississippi's thing is using one color and white, but they should have mixed in red or navy blue in the striping patterns so they can use these with the navy helmets as well.

Ole Miss looks ok in the powder blue tops (they need red stripe bw the white ones, and pants need stripes (powder and red maybe)

Feels like they didn't put them next to their regular pants until yesterday and didn't realize they needed a powder blue stripe so they went with practice pants.

Ole Miss Rebels Unveil New Powder Blue Jerseys

    September 17, 2020 - 16:57 PM

The Ole Miss football program announced on Wednesday night it will wear new powder blue jerseys in the season opener against Florida on Sept. 26. The jerseys will be paired with powder blue helmets, which the Rebels originally wore from 1948-77, again from 1983-94 and as an alternate since 2014.

If they don't have powder blue stripes on the pants it'll look pretty dumb. Hopefully that's what they'll have. Otherwise use the navy helmet.

Georgia celebrated 100 years of Georgia football in 1992...was there something that said the sleeves are celebrating 100 years of football this year?

1992 Georgia Bulldogs Game Worn Football Jersey - 100 YEARS OF GEORGIA FOOTBALL | #540850533

The Bulldog has 100 on the collar, is that for the stadium?

So the previously believed fan jerseys get rid of the standard Georgia numbers. It's a bit different to celebrate 100 years on each sleeve rather than a patch on the chest but it works. Only issue with the 1980 throwback is the number font, but it was meant to be a regular block font by whomever made the uniforms at the time.

Since you're dealing with tearaway type uniforms, I'm sure they may have had multiple number types during the year. Here's a home jersey from the same year.

We of the “have-nots” don’t have that sort of power. It’ll be the powers that be forcing the issue and us peons following. Similar to the Big XII getting us conference title games with less than 12 teams.

The NCAA will have to ultimately sign off on this and we saw how long it took for them to allow naming stadiums something other than "booster who paid for most of this" stadium or "really famous alumni or coach" arena.

Hearing another SEC school is releasing new uniforms tomorrow 👀

Maybe Tennessee got their Vapor Fusion unis in? I figure it's either them or Florida  since Florida volleyball was showing off new uniforms today.

So looks like the equipment guy at Coastal Carolina did not get the memo, ya know about the new conference logo. Ouch, looks outta place now after seeing a few other SBC games today.

Could be that they haven't arrived yet.

Temple's season doesn't start until 10/10 but doesn't find it odd they still haven't released new uniforms, in practice they're still wearing UA practice jerseys but with nike cleats and gloves. In promo materials the UA is just photoshopped out of last years uniform.

I'm guessing unless they have an older Nike design available, they'll probably be pretty plain due to all of the issues with getting new gear shipped this year.

Notre Dame with lotsa patches this year. “Rally” seems to be the team mantra for the season, but I’m not sure what it’s doing on the jersey...

How many heads are going to explode when they see that ACC patch.

  18. New Texas State unis in action. The jerseys looked too big on some players and a couple players were missing name plates as well.

And a view of the BLM logo that the NCAA approved for this year. Memphis has a BL(Memphis Tiger) logo on the back of their helmets.
