Yeah I’m glad it’s a least interesting and pops.

I hope some of the other BFBS / Black Alts follow suit.

I think about like the Eagles and they should shift their black alts to tie in the Kelly Green over Midnight green. Same template as them too.

It’s not what I’d prefer as a 4th look, but would improve the drab black uniforms. Preferably though I’d just add the away Kelly Green look and call it a day.

I agree (though I wish they had no black uni at all).

In fact, they sold so many black fashion jerseys in the early ‘90s that there’s a bit of a Mandela effect where some eagles fans of the right age will swear they occasionally wore black jerseys.

A black jersey with black helmet with the throwback wings, and silver pants, would be miles bettter than their current black crap.

of course they shouldn’t have a black jersey period, but if they must, a fauxback (fauxblack?) is the way to go.

  2. Unrelated to these unveilings, this article is among the most insightful ever of the interaction between a team (Jets), league (NFL), and supplier (Nike.). It costs $5 (but you would get the other two as well) which is well worth it for legitimate journalism rather than reading nonsense by nobodies on Reddit.  Everyone's entitled to opinions, but reading these things would go a long way to making those "informed opinions", rather than spouting off stuff like people did about certain things in 2021 when everyone was a medical expert.

You will see the NFL's concept logos and "stories", which I think everyone here would love.

*I have no affiliation with PL or UW, just think it's one of the best interviews i've ever read in 20 years (JFC... it's been 20!) of being in the uni-community, and even longer of following UW.

I second this. It’s a bit strange that we haven’t seen the split off yet.

It's a lot of work for mods, especially once the threads blow up before it can be gotten ahead of, which happens when there's leaks before official release dates.

  4. I know it's laborious, but could the Lions, Texans, and Broncos be split off the megathread now that they've been unveiled (or legitimately leaked)?  I'd volunteer it if given temporary ability to do so.

If these are their best ideas, just be the Utah Hockey Club.

There's no evidence that the NHL itself or Utah Hockey ownership filed for those.  They could potentially be squatters, or, even if the league did, it could be just to thwart squatters and keep these (horrible) options open.

  6. 1. Maybe the Lions should have their own thread at this point?

    2. Do the pants have a little sheen to them?  Or is it the same drab flat gray?  Some of the pics make it look like they may be at least slightly metallic.

They can change their name, colors, or logos in a couple years if they flubbed it.

Is there any precedent for that in the modern era (team name change just because they didn't like it, not because of outside pressure)?

I'm surprised and also not surprised that they don't have this figured out already.  They couldn't really pay 10s to 00s of thousands to anyone to start working on an identity before they knew they had a team, because it could be a waste and possibly set people up for a big let down if it leaked.

This is generally a once-in-a-franchise's-lifetime decision.  It's probably better that they're taking the WFT strategy than potentially flubbing it up (granted, WFT completely flubbed it, but hopefully these guys are a little more competent.)

All IST games except the finals count as part of the regular season, at least according to the IST site.

that’s relevant if I was talking about the IST.

But I guess maybe the finals would also apply to my point.

  9. Speaking of the Jets, the undeniably best UW piece ever - every little detail about the Jets last redesign - came out today. Everything about Woody Johnson asking how to know what’s “cool”, to the NFL giving Nike the brand, and them coming back with alternative suggestions only to be told to “know your role and shut your mouth”, to the design being THISCLOSE to being a green and white version of the Steelers batwing uniform. Lots of unused concept logos and unis in there, and more real-world examples of how the league, team, and Nike interact (including the league giving Nike their version of the story they want told, then Nike coming out with their version of the Nike Speak for it.)

  10. I’m not sure if there’s any way to incentivize the IST, but what baffles me is that I just learned that the play-in games aren’t considered post-season, so those stats truly go nowhere. If you score 101 points in the game, do you now hold the NBA record? They’re basically considered exhibitions from a statistical perspective.

    Lions --

It is too early to pass judgment since we don't know what the rest of the uniform looks like.  However, I like what I see.

My only disappointment is the sleeve striping.  The Lions have been wearing Northwestern stripes since 1957 (at least on the road uniforms), so they have become an iconic part of the brand in my opinion.  As a result, it surprises me to see them go.

If you do. Google image search on Barry Sanders, I don’t think there’s a single image that shows what most people would call Northwestern stripes. In some cases the sleeves are cut, but their “NW” stripes have outlines on every stripe, similar to the Steelers.  I would not call their classic look a NW-striped jersey.

A good time for the titans to get a new uniform is tomorrow

or find a Delorean and go back to before they decided to design the utter trash they're wearing now.

As I see it, the only challenge is in finding the plutonium and evading the Libyans.

  13. I don't watch many (well, any) Falcons games.  Do they ever open the roof during games, and even if so, does it really let a meaningful amount of light in?  Can't support a dark uniform for domed teams that don't have some kind system for letting real light in.

  14. I know we're never going back to my favorite era of logos (Nordiques, Flyers, Whalers, Devils, North Stars, and others that pass the book-cover test) but something along the line as the Kraken (with a better name) would be more than welcome.

Most of these concepts are over done and better suited for the concepts forum or a AHL, USHL, or inndor leagut

I hate that this thread is HOT with nothing to show for it other than a Lions tease.

Ironically, you made it HOTTER.  Thanks for the contribution.

    Y'all are never happy.

One minute y’all love the chargers uniforms then y’all want them to change it back to the navy blue from the 90s.

next y’all complain about the 49ers not having the correct amount of stripes then y’all complain about it needed to go back the way it was.

Then the Bucs stepped away from their time clock numbers, and y'all want them to go ugly 70s kitchen orange again.

    Just STOP!

Not everything old is good. Some things don’t need to be brought back. The Jets finally went back to one of their best-looking sets and log, and here you all are on day one complaining.

Stop saying y'all, because t'aint all.

Wordmark isn't a design choice, its just victim to different helmet models. The newer Schutt F7 has these ridges on the back bumper that make the wordmark decals be shrunk in comparison to other models.

    Here's a comparison:

By not putting "it takes all of us" or "end racism", the Jets clearly support police brutality against minorities.  There's no other explaination.
