STADIUM: JETBLUE STADIUM

spacer.png

Spoiler

The history of JetBlue Stadium dates back to the 1930s, when two entrepreneurs set out to build an arena that would take the experience of baseball to an entirely new level. They completed the state-of-the-art 44,800 seat open ballpark in 1940, and since then, it has served as the home of the NY Bats. For decades, the stadium has been a staple of the local community, and its popularity has only grown with the team’s success.

The JetBlue Stadium stands out in terms of architectural design. It has a distinctive yellow exterior that creates a unique look, with tall roofs supported by curved steel beams. The interior features many distinct elements, from piers to arcades, allowing for large groups to enjoy the game without fear of overcrowding.

JetBlue Stadium also has a few quirky features that make it unique. For instance, it has the largest illuminated score board of any outdoor stadium in the country – the perfect place to keep track of the progress of the game. It also features a party deck, complete with a bar, grill, and sound system, for fans who want to make the most of their visit.

JetBlue Stadium stands apart from other ballparks in the way it brings the community together. MASCOT: BENNY THE BAT

spacer.png

Spoiler

The mascot for the New York Bats baseball team is known as 'Benny the Bat.' He is a larger-than-life character that captivates the hearts and minds of fans at every game. Benny stands at an impressive 7 feet tall, with a sturdy and muscular build. Benny is a rare and unique species, a hybrid between a fruit bat and a vampire bat. His fur is a deep, rich silver color which contrasts with his bright purple eyes. He has long, pointed ears and sharp fangs that add to his menacing appearance. The team chose the name Benny as a nod to the 'bat and ball' relationship in baseball and the alliterative sound of the name itself.

As the official mascot of the New York Bats, Benny has his own backstory that adds to the excitement and intrigue surrounding him. Born in the caves of Transylvania, Benny was always fascinated with the game of baseball. As a young bat, he would use a fruit as a makeshift ball and a twig as a bat, honing his skills and dreaming of one day playing in the big leagues. However, his dreams were cut short when he was caught in a powerful storm and blown all the way to the United States.

Luckily, Benny was discovered by the owner of the New York Bats, who saw potential in his impressive athleticism and unique appearance. Benny quickly became a fan favorite, known for his acrobatic tricks and dance moves during games. He can often be spotted swooping down from his perch in the stadium rafters, greeting fans and getting them pumped up for the game.

Benny proudly wears the number 13 on his jersey, a nod to the unlucky superstition surrounding bats. However, he proves time and time again that he is anything but unlucky on the field. He is a skilled and cunning player, utilizing his natural abilities to catch fly balls and even stealing bases with his impressive speed.

Aside from his athletic skills, Benny is also known for his mischievous and playful personality. He loves to entertain the crowd with his pranks and jokes, making him a beloved figure among fans of all ages. Benny's presence adds a unique and exciting element to every game, making him an integral part of the New York Bats community.

Enter 'Okie,' a friendly, anthropomorphic Oklahoma red-eared slider, a species native to the state. Okie's backstory is as charming as his personality. As a hatchling, he found himself lost in the vast expanse of the Oklahoma plains, but luckily, a kind old farmer found him and raised him as his own. The farmer instilled in Okie a love for baseball, taking him to games at the old Classen Field, where the 89ers played before moving to their current stadium. Okie eventually joined the team as their mascot, bringing his infectious enthusiasm and love of the game to every match. Sporting a vibrant green, tan, and white baseball cap adorned with the 89ers' logo, Okie's playful antics and energetic cheers inspire the crowd and keep the energy high throughout the game. SURPRISE DOUBLEHEADER

PHILADELPHIA PHIGHTERS:

spacer.png
The inspiration here was combining the two things that people would associate with Philadelphia and Fighting: The Red Boxing Gloves because Rocky, duh, and the purple undertones and barbed wire?

EC DUB! EC DUB! EC DUB! (For those unaware, ECW was a hardcore wrestling promotion in the 90s)

MASCOT: PHIGHTER PHIL

spacer.png

His round, bulging eyes are always full of energy and excitement, and his wide smile is contagious among fans. He stands tall and proud, with strong arms and a firm grip, representing the fighting spirit of the Phighters.

Born in the city of brotherly love, Fighter Phil has always been a sports enthusiast. Growing up in a rough neighborhood, he learned to defend himself against bullies using his powerful fists. As he got older, he honed his boxing skills at a local gym and dreamed of one day becoming a professional boxer. However, fate had a different plan for him.

One day, while visiting a baseball game at the iconic Wawa Park, Phil was discovered by the owner of the Phighters. Impressed by his strength and charisma, he was offered the position of the team's official mascot. Phil enthusiastically accepted the offer, and since then, he has been the heart and soul of the Philadelphia Phighters.

But Phil is not just any ordinary mascot; he is also a proud member of the species Glovius Boxerus, a rare and mystical tribe of sentient boxing gloves. Hailing from the planet Gloviana, Phil's species is known for their fierce loyalty, unwavering determination, and unbeatable boxing skills.

Wearing a custom-made Phighters jersey with his lucky number 25, Fighter Phil takes his job as a mascot seriously. He may not be the one on the field hitting home runs, but he brings an unmatched energy to the stands, cheering on his team and hyping up the crowd. Whether it's high-fiving fans, dancing to the beat of the music, or playfully sparring with rival team mascots, Phil never fails to bring an infectious joy to the stadium.

Off the field, Phil is a kind and gentle soul, always taking the time to interact with fans, especially children. He is also a passionate advocate for anti-bullying campaigns, using his own experiences to promote empathy and understanding among young fans.

No Philadelphia Phighters game is complete without Fighter Phil's presence, and he will always be the ultimate symbol of strength and determination for the team and its loyal fans.

Despite their small size, they have never been afraid to take on the big dogs and always seem to come out ahead.

It's a pre-game tradition like no other, and the entire stadium erupts in cheers every time they perform it.

In addition to their quirks, the team also has some amazing fan features, like their custom-made team logo and merchandise all around the stadium. They even have an exclusive Wawa Park Tailgate Zone which provides a joint outdoor experience for fans before and after games.

Standing at an impressive 7 feet tall and weighing in at over 400 pounds, Big Steel is a towering figure that demands attention wherever he goes. His body is made entirely of steel, giving him a shiny, metallic appearance that reflects the lights of the stadium. His broad shoulders and muscular arms are a testament to his strength and resilience, while his piercing eyes glow with a fierce determination to support his team.

STADIUM: DICK’S SPORTING DOME

spacer.png
spacer.png

Spoiler

Dick's Sporting Dome is an impressive structure that dominates the Pittsburgh city skyline. Standing at a staggering 39,600 seats, it is the ultimate destination for baseball fans in the Steel City. The dome-shaped roof, made of reinforced steel and glass, glistens in the sunlight, reflecting off the nearby river. As you approach the entrance, you are greeted by a massive bronze statue of a baseball player, signaling the long history and love for the sport that is housed within its walls. But this dome is more than just a stadium, it's a symbol of resilience and determination for the Pittsburgh Iron Baseball Team.

Back in the early 2000s, the city of Pittsburgh was facing an economic downturn, and the beloved baseball team, the Pittsburgh Iron, was in danger of relocating due to financial struggles. However, Dick Richards, a wealthy businessman and avid baseball fan, stepped in to save the day. He funded the construction of a state-of-the-art domed ballpark to not only keep the team in Pittsburgh but also to revitalize the city.

As a result, Dick's Dome was born, and it quickly became a beloved landmark for the city. The dome's exterior features a sleek and modern design, with curved edges and intricate patterns etched into the steel. As you step inside, the first thing that catches your eye is the massive LED screen that wraps around the entire circumference of the dome, displaying game statistics and highlights in real-time. The seating area is divided into three levels, with each level offering excellent views of the field.

But what truly sets Dick's Dome apart from other ballparks is its retractable roof. With just a push of a button, the roof can open up, allowing for an open-air feel to the game on beautiful summer days. The roof also serves a practical purpose, shielding fans from the unpredictable Pittsburgh weather and ensuring that games can go on rain or shine.

There are also some unique quirks and features within the dome that have become fan favorites. For one, there is a small section of seats known as the 'Iron Fan Zone,' where die-hard fans can sit right behind the team's dugout, giving them an up-close and personal view of the action. Another feature that sets Dick's Dome apart is the 'Iron Wall' located in center field. This wall is made up of actual iron from Pittsburgh's steel mills, paying homage to the city's industrial roots.

But the real magic of Dick's Dome lies in its atmosphere. The energy and excitement of the fans are palpable, and the sound of cheering and clapping becomes deafening when the Iron hits a home run. The stadium also hosts a variety of events throughout the year, from concerts to cook-offs, making it a hub for community gatherings.

Dick's Dome is more than just a domed ballpark; it’s a testament to the resilience and passion of Pittsburgh and its love affair with the Iron Baseball Team. It has become a beloved meeting place for families, friends, and strangers alike, all united by their love for the game. Every game day, the dome lights up the city, reminding everyone that no matter what struggles may come, the spirit of Pittsburgh will always prevail.

On one hand, the Weird doesn't really feel like it fits that well with the rest of the league (not many other "Non-S ending" names, that kind of thing) whereas I feel Rippers or Cyclers does moreso... that said, if any team was to be the league 'weirdo', what better than for it to be a team called the Weird.

I think ultimately I'd still vote for the Cyclers first. It feels like the best marriage of fitting the city, the sport, and the league, while also looking nice on its own. The others are solid concepts, and that Rippers logo is the start of a cool identity for a team of some sort (honestly I may "borrow" the name and see what I can do with it someday if you don't mind lol), but I think the Cyclers takes it for me.

STADIUM: NIKE STADIUM

Spoiler

Nike Stadium has been a part of the Portland sports scene since its groundbreaking in the summer of 1998. It is a 44,100-seat open ballpark, and the home of the Portland Pines baseball team. It’s unique in many ways—its enormous seating capacity, tremendous sightlines, and one-of-a-kind design make it truly a one-of-a-kind experience.

The construction of Nike Stadium marked a huge milestone in competent stadium design. Its capacity was the largest ever built and its modernized amenities included 30 luxury boxes, 5 restaurants, and nearly 5,000 parking spaces. But what really sets Nike Stadium apart is its unique style and aesthetic. It has numerous unique design features, including a curved roof, sweeping entry gate, and a giant video board. But the most prominent feature of the Heritage District design is the statue of a replica of a Greek hoplite that stands atop one of the entry gates.

The park also features a whole host of other quirky features. There’s a metal walkway that encircles the stadium, an outdoor concert venue, and a signature craft-beer stand. There are also several sculptures and murals that celebrate Portland’s culture and the Pines franchise.

Since its opening, Nike Stadium has been the source of much enthusiasm and celebration for Pines fans. Its whimsical design and off-the-field activities have made it a staple of the Portland sports scene. Even the visiting teams can’t help but appreciate the magnitude of this ballpark’s sheer size and grandeur. Every game day, thousands of Pines fans cheer on their heroes in a venue that is overflowing with the unique spirit of the Northwest.

Spoiler

The mascot of the San Antonio Copperheads baseball team is a vibrant and charismatic character known as 'Slither.' As his name suggests, Slither is a snake-like creature with a long, slim body covered in shiny copper scales. His head is topped with a copper colored baseball cap, and his bright green eyes never fail to catch the attention of fans. With a friendly smile and a mischievous glint in his eye, Slither roams the stadium, pumping up the crowd and entertaining fans of all ages.

Slither has been the beloved mascot of the San Antonio Copperheads for over a decade, and his presence at every game has become a cherished tradition. But what many people don't know is that Slither wasn't always the energetic and playful character they see today. In fact, he wasn't even from Earth. Slither hails from a distant planet called Snakarion, where snakes are the dominant species and possess advanced intellect and abilities. It was on this planet that Slither discovered his love for baseball and dreamed of one day playing on a professional team.

However, fate had other plans for Slither. When a group of intergalactic travelers landed on Snakarion, they were immediately drawn to Slither's impressive baseball skills and offered him a spot on their team. Excited at the opportunity to play the sport he loved on a grand scale, Slither accepted and left his home planet behind.

Unfortunately, the excitement of playing baseball in space eventually wore off, and Slither found himself longing for a place to call home. That's when he stumbled upon Earth and discovered the game of baseball was not only popular here but also had a professional league. It didn't take long for Slither to make his way to San Antonio, where he immediately connected with the Copperheads team and their fiery spirit.

As the official mascot of the team, Slither takes great pride in representing the San Antonio Copperheads. His jersey number, 11, is a nod to his home planet, Snakarion, as it symbolizes the two parallel lines on the planet's surface that form the number. Slither's presence at games adds an extra element of excitement and fun for fans, and his passion for the game is contagious.

In addition to entertaining fans, Slither also has a philanthropic side. He often makes appearances at local schools and community events, spreading his message of teamwork, determination, and perseverance. Without a doubt, Slither has become an integral part of the San Antonio Copperheads baseball team, and his impact on the community continues to grow with each game he attends. So next time you're at a Copperheads game, be sure to keep an eye out for the spirited and lovable mascot, Slither!
