What makes you say Curtis Joseph a free agent in 1997? Cujo was with the Oilers from 1996-98 and not a free agent until after the '98 season. You are right, I had the year wrong. He and Beezer were free agents at the same time in '98, and Clarke went with the cheaper guy, even though CuJo was more than willing to play here.1997 was the Garth Snow fiasco.
