The Devils had one of the best records in the league that year and were in first place up until about 10 games to go when they fired their coach. The Devils had one of the best records in the league that year and were in first place up until about 10 games to go when they fired their coach. In fact the Devisl had home ice advantage in the finals that year. I knew they had fired their coach before the playoffs and thought they were like a 6 seed that year.
