Cheerleading is a sport--an opinion based sport where it takes judges' opinions to determine the winner. This is along the same line as gymnastics and figure skating, where the opinion of judges is what determines the winner. That's where you get disputed winners--the judges said one person won, but you think someone else won. What we generally consider sport is fact-based sport, where the winner is determined by who has more points at the end of the game or who crossed the finish line first. No argument here to determine first place. Personally, everyone likes cheerleaders--myself included--but I like my sports with absolute winners.

No. Absolutely not.

Again, I must make my point: The object of cheerleading is to lead cheers. Yes, there are contests within cheerleading, but contests within that doesn't make it a sport because of the object. And we can't forget that object.
