sj32 Posted October 19, 2003 Share Posted October 19, 2003 No JQK - the NLCS only went 6 games with the Mets winning 4 games to 2. Game 6 was the one where the Mets took the lead in the 14th only to have Billy Hatcher tie it with a homer in the bottom of the 14th. The Mets scored 3 in the top of the 16th but Houston scored 2 in the bottom half before Jesse Orosco struck out Mike Bass with two runners on to end it. The Mets were desperate to end the series in 6 because they would face Mike Scott in Game 7. Scott had thrown a 5-hitter in Game 1 and a three-hitter in Game 4, so they wanted no part of Scott and his "sinker" in a seventh game. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
