The orientation that the (Seattle) Mariners use at least gives you the idea that the compass is oriented so north is toward the top of the logo.Gonna say "pass" on this one. Japan's flag is red and white, but the team colors look like dark blue, darker blue/black, and neon green - none of which go with the red and white. The wordmark's a loaner, as is the compass rose. I'd go in another direction. "Start spreading the news... They're leavin' today... Won't get to be a part of it...
