pcgd Posted July 14, 2006 Share Posted July 14, 2006 I dont hate the guy for getting drunk, i dislike him for being a crap pitcher making millions.You guys, (not fans of the evil empire) you realize that because we think this is a bad move, and sure to hurt the 'Yankees', he will now go on a tear and have a 1.00 ERA, right? Just to screw with all fans of baseball, and to please the fans of the 'Yankees' Millions? He made 1 million this year. And as stl mentioned...he wasn't THAT crappy. His stats, althought not impressive, were made much worse by the last month. The yankees are paying him about $150k for the rest of the year. They guy has potential to at least be a Jeff Suppan type pitcher. Not everyone can have 5 number 1s....Doesn't strike you out, but keeps you in games with ground balls. He's just out of shape and didn't really work out (literally work out) for the cardinals, when he only went 5 or 6 innings max. Skipped running, etc. Mainly he was the scapegoat for a terrible month of pitching by the Cardinals starters. Who really cares? You have to pay him less than your sales for Beer in ONE INNING to see if he can straighten himself out. If he doesn't you are out nothing. One of the terms of his new contract was final say in all personnel matters. Yeah but you know Steinbrunner is still pulling the strings.
