Fred T. Jane
Trust me, if the line really was Colts by 30, the Casinos could make a killing.OK, I had to read up on sports betting, and from what I've read, the only way the Bookmaker could make a killing on a Colts by 30 point spread would be if the people betting the over are (1) Mentally incompetent to actually bet (2) People making desperate bets (3) Rich gamblers who have enough money to use it as toilet paper or (4) You.Considering the fact that the spread has been covered only 55% all time, and only twice out of the last ten times, I wouldn't touch the over of your line with Zdeno Chara's hockey stick. From the Oddly Appropriate Factoid for this Thread Department: The Baltimore Colts were 18 point favourites going into Super Bowl III. We all know how that panned out. [Croatia National Team Manager Slavan] Bilic then went on to explain how Croatia's success can partially be put down to his progressive man-management techniques. "Sometimes I lie in the bed with my players. I go to the room of Vedran Corluka and Luka Modric when I see they have a problem and I lie in bed with them and we talk for 10 minutes." Maybe Capello could try getting through to his players this way too? Although how far he'd get with Joe Cole jumping up and down on the mattress and Rooney demanding to be read his favourite page from The Very Hungry Caterpillar is open to question. --The Guardian's Fiver, 08 September 2008 Attention: In order to obtain maximum enjoyment from your stay at the CCSLC, the reader is advised that the above post may contain large amounts of sarcasm, dry humour, or statements which should not be taken in any true sort of seriousness. pcgd
For Saints Fans the sign could have read.....Saints finishing what The Great Chicago Fire of 1871 and Steve Bartman have started...and that would have been just as hilarious to me. Though I would have substituted the Haymarket Riot for Bartman, as anarchists > Cubs fans on the epic violence scale. But that's just me. In reality, the Great Chicago Fire of 1871 has played a pretty major roll in what makes Chicago what it is today. Without it, the city could have been burdened by bad street layout. The Fire also speed up the advancement of then-modern utilities and gave young architects a blank canvas to make Chicago one of the most beautiful cities in the world. The fire was so important in chicago, that one of the 4 stars of the Chicago flag stands for The Great Chicago Fire....I digress...That's the thing about a Bears Crowd...you can't say anything about baseball. Make fun of the Cubs, and only half of them care. Make fun of the Sox, the other half care. Make fun of either, and I don't care. Although I'm the one weirdo that roots for the Bears and then the St. Louis Cardinals...As the billboards here in chicago say, "Baseball will Divide us, But Football shall unite us.....Man Law!"
