Roger Clemente
Sydney, Nova Scotia got nothing. A local pizzeria has a shop set up in Centre 200 during Eagles games, but that's it. The hot dogs, popcorn and beer are just standard. There used to be a Subway, but they got rid of the Subway after they switched to Coca-Cola because the Eagles are owned by the local Pepsi distributer. There is an excellent restaurant inside the casino connected to the arena though. Just your standard restaurant fare though (steak, chicken, seafood, etc.).Astonishingly enough, I've never been to a little league game that didn't feature at least one person dragging their barbecue from home by truck, just to grill some dogs and hamburgers and sell them for $1. Even the games with no more than 50 people watching. While it may not count as sports, there's a hot dog cart set up outside Sydney's biggest bar every night trying to sell hot dogs and sausages to drunk people. And he does good business. The meat is standard, but his range of toppings available is quite generous so it doesn't take much effort to make your own dog.I'm very curious about garlic fries. Is it just fries with garlic powder sprinkled on them, are they fries cooked with diced up cloves of garlic, or what's in them? I'd like to make my own version to try.--Roger "Time?" Clemente.
