Why are the LA Dodgers in the Grapefruit League in Spring Training? As a western team shouldn't they be stationed out of Arizona(Cactus League).

Baka baaka

History in Vero Beach/bureaucratic inertia. Dodgertown has been the Dodgers' spring training home since 1953 when they were on the East Coast. Fear not gentle soul, though...Dodgers are rumored to be going to Arizona in 2009.

heh, the first real evidence I saw was the Vero Beach Dodgers becoming the Devil Rays for this season (sadly, meaning one of the great caps in all of baseball, the VB over the grapefruit half, has been retired, never to be seen again). the rumors had been out there for a while, but the VB Dodgers becoming a Rays affiliate (strangely, they're still owned by the Dodgers for now) was the first real indicator the rumors were true.

They had n article in SI a few weeks ago about it too. It was nice, but teh Dodgers feel they are doing it for their fans who can get to AZ better then Florida.
