Viper
The MSNBC write-up includes a video of the entire race, which has to be seen to be believed. Watching Mine That Bird do what he did reminded me of one of those Gatorade ads that show athletes do something seemingly supernatural, except this one wasn't fake. Seadragon76
I watched the race and was rooting for Pioneer of the Nile to win (Don't know why, but I just went with it). All of a sudden, you saw a horse come down the rail and it was almost a deja vu moment (Remember Street Sense? Yeah, just about the same tatic used). All I have to say is that whoever bet on Mine That Bird to win is probably very rich today.
gingerbreadmann
Yeah, after the race they said a $2 bet on the top 2 spots was worth $2,000-something, and a correct bet of $2 on the top 4 finishers was worth $557,000. Wowza.
WJMorris3
And just imagine the stud fees that will come of this. Oh, wait, it's a gelding. So much for that.
