The_Admiral
What the Red Sox did was stupid, because the full logo with the correct lettering all the way around looks great and deserves lots of exposure. ♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫
DustDevil61
As much as I despise the Yankees, I love that bat/Uncle Sam Hat logo (for lack of a better term). For a second, I thought this thread would be about the "NY" logo... AKA @LanRovr0 on Twitter LED Sig Credits to packerfan21396
Gothamite
Yankees should do like the Red Sox and designate one of the NYs as the primary, with the bat in the hat as the secondary. That's not really what the Red Sox did, though. They didn't make their "B" logo the primary, they just stripped the primary logo of everything except the red socks. Which was a truly inspired move, by the way.I don't think the Yankees currently have an iconic logo element that could work on its own. It's possible that they could create one - a new version of the top hat - but as it stands, the hat needs the bat to work (and the bat needs the word).I still kind of wish they would adopt the New Hampshire Primaries' alt logo:Ties in with the Babe and all that. And as for Lon Keller, I'm glad his proposed update never saw the light of day:I don't know how serious he was about that, or if he was just goofing around, but that's just awful. Putting the hat on an angle in opposition to the bat ruins the whole design. The Green Bay Packers Uniform Database! Now in a handy blog.

Gothamite
I don't think so - if the bat were perched at that angle, the hat would more likely dangle off to the right. You'd have to carefully balance the hat for it to rest as it shows in his revision. But as a design, it's a major step backward. Doesn't flow. The Green Bay Packers Uniform Database!
