Drakonius26
Can anybody tell me when the Pittsburgh Steelers actually used this logo (I'm thinking late 50's or early 60's, as it looks like a logo from that time, or was it only 1961), and what the name of the "Steelers" font is? I only ask this, because I saw a commercial with this living room decked out with Pittsburgh Steelers merchandise and that pennant caught my eye. oo_nrb
The font just looks like it's a heavily-stroked Monotype Corsiva, which Microsoft has included for free in Word. 2011 Colorado Rockies | Season from Hell
Drakonius26
Thank you guys. I did wonder about the logo though, since it seems the dates of logos like that are sometimes foggy to most football/jersey historians. Plus, I always liked that font, but wasn't sure what exactly it was, since it almost appeared to be some modified version of Vivaldi.
Gothamite
The dates are foggy because alternate logos like that one weren't always announced in a press release. They just appeared after a while, and disappeared just as quietly. It was a different time. Love that logo, even if the wordmark is a modern creation. The Green Bay Packers Uniform Database! I always assumed Steeler meant a worker in a steel mill or steelworks.

Gothamite
I don't know that his garb would be inappropriate for a plant which manufactures girders, as opposed to making things out of them. Drakonius26
I think the only thing that wouldn't fit would be the hat he's wearing. It's not a welding mask, nor does it even look like a hard-hat either.
