AHcreative
I'm pretty sure the reason for that logo is the fact that New Era doesn't have rights to current NBA logos. If you notice, all their NBA merchandise is old logos and ABA teams. And then this Bulls logo, which I'm not sure was ever an official logo.New Era does have rights to the current logoshttp://nba.frgimages.com/FFImage/thumb.aspx?i=/productImages/_1181000/ff_1181142_xl.jpg&w=500 http://shop.neweracap.com/Mens/Sport_nbaTake a look around. All Hardwood Classics.Look at the NBA storehttp://store.nba.com/search/new%20eraYeah, it's odd; even in the NBA store there are New Era hats that are not Hardwood Classics that have that Windy City logo...Well, it's no skin off my back really as I don't care much for basketball to begin with. I just really think the logo is tacky and I can't see why anyone would chose to wear it over the classic Bulls logo (which actually could use an update), but I digress. To each their own. And thanks guys for shedding some light on this. I knew this would be the perfect place to answer my question!
Discogod
Been doing some digging... It appears the Bulls wore the "Windy City" logo on the back of their warm-up jackets c. 1973-75. I've found a photo that I'm 99% sure shows this, but it's too small to fully tell. Hopefully I can snag a higher resolution version...EDIT: Nope, I was wrong. Found a bigger pic on Getty and it appears to be a trick of the light. I did find this image of a late 60s shooting shirt, though...

First I've seen of that version, and if that's what the Windy City logo really looked like, then it confirms that what's used now is a fauxback. (But definitely based on something real.) Good find. I did some searching for pocket schedules with no luck.
CubsFanBudMan
Inspired by this thread, I finally ordered a (easily accessible) whale of mine:http://nba.frgimages.com/FFImage/thumb.aspx?i=/productimages/_1450000/altimages/FF_1450300ALT1_xl.jpgIt arrived today and I can confirm that it is a New Era cap without the Windy City add-on. And now I can finally retire my Sports Specialties script Bulls cap.EDIT: Not sure why it's turning my img tag into a URL, but it appears we're stuck with it.
