Arizona Diamondbacks: The Present Meets The Past

I think we can all agree that the Arizona Diamondbacks have one of the most messed up looks currently in the Majors: the alternation between the Red/Black and the Teal/Black schemes, the dark grey road uniforms and the diamond pattern (I think that, despite being a good idea, there's something off about it).

 

That's why I decided to make things simpler: I took their current logos and wordmarks, and used the club original colours (making a mix between the original Turquoise and the current Teal, and using the cuurent Sand shade instead of Copper). I also decided to use a design inspired by the 1998/02 alt uniform for the sleeves and pants trim.

 

This is the result:

 

 

Do you think these are any better than the current uniforms?

Other than my personal aversion to the "D-BACKS" wordmark, there isn't a single thing I'd change about these designs. It's the best of both worlds!

Could we see an alternate, and maybe a version of the home uni with the "A" logo replacing the wordmark?

Awesome!! i really enjoy the classic colors on an updated template. The only think i would add would be a D alternate hat

This is a great update of their original look, with a dash of the current D-Backs' look mixed in. I would bring back the pinstripes on the home uniform though - I think it looks a bit bare right now with any placket piping or pinstripes, and looks like something is missing since the "A" was traditionally worn with pinstripes.

 

Personally, I wish the Diamondbacks would permanently go with the "A" logo on their chest at home. I loathe the D-Backs' wordmark - I generally hate the idea of abbreviated team names on a jersey (Jays, D-Backs, Bolts, Jags), unless it's the Sonics - and "Diamondbacks" is far too unwieldy on the front of a uniform (as evidenced by their inaugural uniforms). The "A" is the perfect option for avoiding ugly and/or excessively long wordmarks.

Pretty close to perfect. Just drop the front numbers and I think you've nailed it.

one small nitpick, I would swap the home and road alt jerseys. The lighter color is most predominantly worn at home.

I really like these, except for the current D-Backs wordmark. Went to the game yesterday and my brother and I were joking all game how it looked like D-BACHS.

You're right, but given the original home alt uniform was purple, I wanted to keep it that way.

I would love to see Arizona go back to this color scheme.  They went from such a unique identity to being just another red and black team. The purple/teal is their best look and you pulled it off well with these designs. Great job.
