  1. Tonga's RWC Kit: Argentina's Rugby Championship and RWC kits:
  2. New Springboks kit by Nike. Looks very nice.
  3. The New Zealand All Blacks new kits: as well:
  4. Japan has not changed their design from the previous World Cup.
  5. From a design point of view, I think getting rid of theme warm up jerseys is good. Every single one of them looked the same apart from a colour swap and special logo for some on a generic Adidas practice jersey template. There are better ways of supporting various causes off the ice and I think a lot of teams already do that. I mean if they REALLY want to do a theme jersey, I don't see what they can't and just not wear it on ice. Sell it at the games and donate all proceeds to a charity that supports the theme. Do I agree with banning them over the 1% of players who kicked up a stink and hid behind their "religious beliefs"? No. I am glad that they chose to do a blanket ban on ALL theme jerseys though.
  6. URC's Zebra Parma are switching their kit from Macron to Canterbury and Osprey will be switching to Macron. And in the Premiership, the Bristol Bears are switching from Umbro to O'Neills:
  7. Just read in Victoria's Times Colonist that the Ice were originally supposed to move to Nanaimo but they city voted down using tax money to either refurbish Frank Crane Arena or build a new one. So they moved to Winnipeg.
  8. The Winnipeg Ice are on the move again. They have been sold and will be moving to Wenachee, Washington. The Wenachee Wild of the BCHL will "move up" the the WHL. Winnipeg Ice Sold, moving to Wenachee
  9. The second country to reveal their Rugby World Cup kits is Uruguay. Primary: Alternate:

  11. It's been a while since I posted on this. As life does, it gets in the way. Anyways, now that school is almost done, I can get close to finishing this series. I've completed the two prairie teams, the Manitoba Buffalo and Saskatchewan Prairie Fire. Manitoba Bison Stadium: Maple Grove Rugby Park I went with a brown, gold and while colour scheme as brown is very underused. I also went with a white home kit for these guys and, for now, may be the only ones. The away is straight brown all the way through. Saskatchewan Prairie Fire Stadium: Regina Rugby Park Championship: 2007 I went with a black and orange trim kit for the home kit (much like the original). The logo is also changed and incorporated wheat pattern into the design. For the away, I went with a plains Cree pattern. They also receive a star as they also won a league championship.
  12. I really enjoyed the joy that Jay Onrait got announcing this on SportsCentre NHL 'terribly disappointed' after Tempe voters reject arena for Coyotes
  13. The final four bids for the Senators have been submitted. The front runner right now is a group that consists of the minority owner of the Habs and the former minority owners of the Penguins. An interesting note on them is both of these parties have been in contact with Ryan Renyolds. So there is still a chance that Reynolds could be part of the Senators ownership group. Report: Four bids for Senators submitted, including one at $1 billion Watch the video from "That's Hockey" as it has more details.
  14. Had a conversation with a guy after rugby practice with a few beverages the other night and he seems to think that Quebec will never get a team because of the high taxes we pay in Canada. When you have places like Nevada who don't have a luxury tax or Florida who has a flat rate for taxes, why would they come to Canada? I see his point, but at the end of the day, if they can bring in more revenue, then I don't think it really matters. I also think the only way Quebec is going to get a team again is expansion (and only if they can add another team in the west) or relocation of a struggling Eastern Conference and Atlantic Division team (I think in this scenario, the Panthers would fit the bill the best, but even that's a long shot).
  15. I love the timing of this, especially since UCP's are currently lagging behind in support in Calgary. The provincial money is only going to happen if our Supreme Leader (Danielle Smith) and the UCP's win the election. They only agreed to this because of the election in a few weeks. This is what Smith said and clearly is an election ploy: "After the election, the province's contribution to this arena deal must be approved by provincial cabinet and the Treasury Board before the end of summer," Premier Danielle Smith told the news conference. "That's why, on May 29, I’m hoping Calgarians give our (United Conservative Party) government a clear mandate to proceed with this arena deal. The NDP and the Tax Payers Federation have all said that the government shouldn't be using tax payer money to fund well off sports clubs. If the UCP's loose the election, you can bet this money won't be given... and even if they do win, I can bet the money still won't come. Just another empty election promise. What I also found amusing is that the Edmonton mayor said that "Edmonton built their arena without provincial support" and that he will be talking to Smith about possibly getting some money to put towards Rogers Place here in Edmonton.
  16. Updated Germany kit...Have to say I'm a little disappointed with this one as Germany had one of the nicest kits out there. Away 7's Kit: Georgia Away: Georgia Home:
  17. The Rugby World Cup is happening in September and France is the first to reveal their kit. They've got back to the traditional blue shirt, white shorts and red socks instead of the all blue look they've had the the last few years.
  18. IF the league were to ever become reality again (and that is a very big if), I would see them following the same structure as the CPL. Have it as a league below the MLR and maybe have a Canadian Championship where all clubs that play within Canada compete, like the Voyageur Cup. As for the FV black, I went with black as they currently use it as one of the select team kits so wanted something to go with what they currently have. It may be the shade on the computer, but on their actual kits, the green does pop out nicely on the black kits in reality. On with the rest. This will be the next 3 teams that I have completed. Calgary Mavericks: Stadium: Calgary Rugby Park Championships: 2003 I changed the shade of red from a dark, almost maroon red to a lighter shade (actually I think it is the same red that the Flames use). For the kit, it is primarily black and I went with a western style shirt (If you saw my CFL to rugby series, this was the same style I used for the Stampeders Signature kits). For the away, I went with a a traditional barber pole pattern with gray and white and on the bottom, a silouette of Calgary. Newfoundland Rock: Stadium: Swillers Rugby Park Championships: 2005, 2006, 2008 The second most succesful team in the RCSL, The Rock. For the home hit, I kept the burgundy and updated the logo slightly. For the away, I went with black and a chevron design with the 6 colours from the logo on the front. I'm not sure of the significance of the colours but it could be that each colour represents each of the clubs in Newfoundland and Labrador. Ottawa Harlequins: Stadium: Twin Elm Rugby Park The Harlequins were one of the original teams. I went with the same pattern that the harlequin on their logo has as a primary kit design. I like the randomness of the pattern for a rugby kit. For the away kit, I moved the diamond pattern to the arms and kept the rest of the kit white with a city scape silouette of ottawa at the base.
  19. Here's the thing, they did have the 2 divisions (Eastern & Western Conference) and playing each team once. After 2008 they "scrapped" the league in favor of the North America 4's (Canada East, Canada West, USA Eagles & USA Hawks). The scrapped league was brought back but as U20 league, which I don't think lasted. The biggest issue was travel costs for the league and because Canada is so big and traveling within the country is ridiculously expensive, the league didn't have a chance. Rugby Canada Super League
  20. Fraser Valley Venom: Stadium: Willoughby Community Park Stadium (home of Vancouver FC of the CPL) Championships: 2000, 2001 The old Vipers used to play in Abbottsford but since there is a new stadium being built in Langley to house Vancouver FC, thought that was a better location. The colours are the same as the Fraser Valley Rugby Union. The logo (full disclosure, I am not an artist and am not able to draw something like what this is so this logo is not mine, it's a stock image from Adobe I think and it fit the team name well) is a "V" with a viper. The lines on the kit represent the tramlines on the farm fields that are in the surrounding Fraser Valley area. The chevron design is also inspiration from their old kit as well as the diamond around the number.
